12% off NIB Travel Insurance

101
SQUIZ12

Was looking around for a deal on travel insurance for my youngster, who’s heading off for some Euro travel, and found this discount code for NIB Travel Insurance.
Pricing was also also better than any other providers I tried, so might be useful to someone.
Note: There’s possibly another 10% off available if you’re a NIB member, as per note at bottom of linked page.

Tick was approx. $400 more for what I was after (365 days in UK & Europe) so will most likely depend on individual circumstances.

      • overall these majors are huge rip offs in travel insurance

    • Thank you!

  • How’s that compare to Insureandgo?

    • comparing the above quote I done for thailand, came up as $122

  • I've spent a lot of time reading travel insurance PDS and the only one I'll use is SCTI. Everyone's circumstances are different though.

I've also had a good claims experience with them and their prices are reasonable for a premium insurer.

    • I was looking at scti pds too for Japan and I may be wrong but it doesn't cover natural disasters such as typhoon and earthquakes? (Recent typhoon hit Japan few weeks ago).

Do you know which ones cover natural disasters? Thank you

      • I believe it does, they're just saying that they wont cover you if it has happened before you leave and you still decide to go (in other words you should cancel and they will pay your losses from canceling assuming you had the insurance before it happened). They'd also cover you if it happens after you've started your trip. Seems reasonable to me. Best to contact them and confirm, I have done that in the past to check various scenarios.

  • Tick is cheap but the higher excess makes it less attractive.

    • +1

Kind of depends - like whether you want to insure the tail risk that things go catastrophically wrong (excess doesn't matter so much), or insure the smaller inconveniences

I personally have never claimed on travel insurance so am happy to cop the higher excess
