  • bargain!!! - don't think- just do.

  • This seems way too cheap. What's wrong with it?

      FHD?

      • +1

Hmm yea, that's quite a bummer. Also seems it was $1999 at other stores too so looks like runout stock from supplier.

        • 1080p for a 17inch screen isn't too bad.

ignore the post i edited out… didn't realize this was the 17" version.

      • Thank you for that, that's quite helpful. 17" on this one though so 1080p definitely isn't good enough.

Edit: D'oh, that was actually a useful comment before edited out.

It's got a 12700 so it's a year out of date. We're under a month away from the 14th gen being announced

    • Only two USB ports and one on each side means if you're gaming you have to be careful not to hit the device cable sticking out from the port.

Not too bad if you dont mind taking a USB hub around with you everywhere I guess.

Also LAN port on the side.

Much prefer gaming laptops with back facing IO options so you can keep messy cabling out of the way.

I've been waiting for a laptop (under 2kg weight) with a 15.6" FHD display and long battery life for business use, no gaming or power intense use. Anything good between $500-700?

    • No sorry

  • Looks pretty solid for gaming as long as you don't mind the 1080p screen on 17"

  • Is this light for a gaming laptop?

    • Not the lightest, but not the heaviest.

  • does this mean the lenovo deal isn't as good as it seemed? prices seem to be coming down

Thaat lenovo isn't a gaming unit.

      • Does a "gaming unit" need to LOOK like a gaming unit these days? I would have thought an RTX 4060 would justify that moniker.

Note: the actual 4050 in the link starts to drop it though.

Note again: I stand corrected. The 4060 is pretty crap

This is how RTX 2080 and RTX 4060 compete in popular games:

        1080p resolution:

RTX 4060 is 1.4% faster than RTX 2080
        1440p resolution:

RTX 2080 is 36.5% faster than RTX 4060
        4K resolution:

RTX 2080 is 57.8% faster than RTX 4060

Gaming laptops have better cooling so are less likely to overheat and bottle neck. They'll be able to use the GPU more for gaming rather than for productivity.

          1. Gaming laptops have better cooling - not just for the GPU, but CPU also.
          2. Gaming laptops tend to have higher power limits. Where non-gaming laptops come with smaller power bricks, gaming laptops come with power bricks 150W+ to feed the higher power GPU.
          3. Gaming laptops tend to be heavier than the non-gaming couterparts. The Aorus is an exception rather than the norm, being very light for its size (comparatively vs other gaming laptops), but it's still heavier than a non-gaming laptop of its size.

None of the above are to do with how it "looks".
Gaming laptop isn't about how it looks.

          1. The desktop and mobile chips perform differently. There's no point going on about desktop GPU performance differences…

previous gen Aorus 17 was my favourite gaming laptop, but I got it beginning of 2022 for for $1899

I was bummed in the next generations they ditched mechanical keyboard..

Its 130w without a mux switch. Far from the greatest things in the world. For games that you will want to take advantage of the 360hz screen (csgo, valorant etc), they will be hit hardest with no mux at 40% loss in frames.
