EK-Nucleus CR240 Lux D-RGB 240mm AIO Liquid CPU Cooler $149 + Delivery ($0 SYD C&C/ $20 off with mVIP) @ Mwave

140

Good price on a good 240mm AIO

The 360mm version is supposedly the current top cooler: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ek-nucleus-aio-cr360-lu…

Not low profile but apparently you can take off the top lid and fit it into a4-h2o: https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/10uxikp/build_update…

  • this is a fantastic price!! I paid 249 + shipping ($16) back in march or so, spewing!
it's also a great cooler, though in my application, i ended up swapping cases and hence coolers. but i rate 10/10

    • yeah i'm not sure why they are doing a discount on this particular model only, weird. the non-rgb version is more expensive

if you don't mind, which cooler did you swap to?

So i was running my 13700k in the A4 H2O with the nucleus cooler but it wasn't easy for me to transport it from my two living locations. So i swapped out the case to the Fractal Design Ridge and struggled with cooling for a bit. Tried the noctua NH-L12S but cos you're pulling air from the case and blowing up out through the side the performance is terrible, made worse by intel's cooling. I settled on the IDCOOLING IS55 with the be quiet! Silent wings pro 4. The fan is important cos I'm running the asus z790i - an absolutely chocked mobo ugh. Just the other day i undervolted the cpu and put a thermal limit on it which has lost me 1% of performance but finally very nice and quiet. The performance I'm leaving on the table could be fixed with better cooling but i don't want to compromise on the case. I'm happy 🙏 but i should have gone AMD

What temps did you end up with the thermal limit? I had the same problem with the 13700k in the A4 H20 (was using the basic EK cooler. Ended up swapping into a Corsair 4000D…

          • @AFM7: how'd you go with the 4000D?? how's your thermals? — just realised you changed cases, not coolers. did you change to an aircooler in the 4000D?

man the thermals were DYSMAL. like easy high 90's… i got the thermalgrizzy x der8auer aftermarket ILM to help reduce the bending that the oem ILM was causing. got the 2-4deg improvement, but it was just SO noisy and was constantly getting hot. The A4 H2O has another problem with the placement of the PSU — it causes so much bending of the hosing that I think it's restricting the flow of coolant. IMO a tidy custom loop with one of those pump+reservoirs from EK would be the way to go…

          • @povogamer: well hello there fellow sff enthusiast 😎

yeah i was very surprised. the reason the noctua failed is because the fan has to live on the underside of the fins. and we know that intake is significantly less effective than exhaust when dealing with a fin-array… so i had to have the cooler exhausting out of the case over the cpu vent. And all of this stems from asus' crazy vrm heat sink height and stacked m.2 ssd array blocking airflow sideways. if i could change those two things, the IS55 would be even better!

Would this beat a standard dual tower cooler?

    • depends on what you meant by standard - but probably is what I'll say (deferring to those who know more). the heat mass of water is really good. and if you pair it with a decent pushthrough fan (be quiet silent wings pro 4) you'll have great cooling
