Weber Baby Q Titanium (Q1000) $295 (Was $369) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ The Good Guys

590

Weber rarely goes on sale so I was pretty happy to get this. The Ziggy is a direct competitor but I read somewhere that they don't take like the swap and go bottles from the servo and are harder to clean.

Love my Ziggy, uses swap and go tanks and just hose down to clean

    • Great! I was recently looking into getting one and saw some one said the hole at the back of lid puts out fire or so. have u had any such prob?

  • +6

I got a Ziggy too it's never let me down apart from having to deal with the worst of the worst after sales support of the evil Bbq galore. Worst company ever

    • +9

On the other hand Weber support is 2nd to none in bbq world.

    • +1

BBQ galore is the worst company to deal with. I bought a stainless steel BBQ and it started to rust after a while. Apparently that’s normal to rust and is not covered by warranty. What a load of rubbish!

      • its stated on the warranty terms though… (no rust through blah blah…)

        • I was meant to apply some rust protection on it and that’s why I violated the terms of warranty 🙄

          • @Faiz: surely if it is really SS it shouldn't rust anyway??

  • +8

To be fair it’s on sale most months and often cheaper at Mitre 10 or Myer

    • +3

      Don't spoil the guy's luck 😭

    • I just pick them up from my back lane when my idiot neighbours chuck them out because they're "not working". They often tend to do that if you never clean them. Also picked up a free Family Q that just needed a new ignition switch.

      • +1

I've got to keep my eyes open for some "not working" ones!

  • +7

Thats the normal price before they hired Jack a few months back

  • I hear that newly designed models are coming out in a few weeks so everywhere is selling off the current Q models.

  • Is this good for two people?

    • +2

Yes. I reckon you'd feed four people too.

      • +1

I used mine very often and they are prefect size for 4 people.

More that and you have to start cooking in 2 batches.

    • +2

I've got one and it does alright for two people. The only thing I'd recommend is getting the grill plates, and the roasting kit.

    • Yeh, mate.

      When is the next barbie?

    • +1

Nah, that'd be too much meat.

  • This was my first gas weber bbq. As a newbie, this was great. But eventually I found it never got hot enough for a good sear for that charred taste.

    • Did you end up getting a BBQ that got a good sear?

      • +1

Yes. I bought the Weber Spirit II E320. A different beast altogether with a higher price point around $900 back then.

        • one would hope so at 3x the price

    • +1

They cook differently to other BBQs, they are designed to be used with the lid down at all times.

    • Even with the grill plate?

      Essential addition…

      • The flat plate do you mean?

  • rarely? I swear I see this on sale every month on here

These are on clearance as a new model is about to be released. Main changes from what I’ve heard is it will have the ability to get down to low temps around 100 degrees (good for brisket etc). The plastic frame will change to metal. And there’s a new logo. Not sure if there will be a price rise or not but you’d have to assume the price will rise.

  • Thanks for sharing op! Would go well with the 10% off TCN Him Cards.

  • My Ziggy uses swap and go just fine, whats more it is easier to clean than the weber as you can put the plates in the dishwasher. Also the Weber is regularly on sale, both are great bbq's

    • +2

The q100 is a great size for many
      Easy cleaning
      Gas efficient
      Heats up quickly
      Lasts
      Portable
      Low profile doesn't matter
      Cheaper than the thermo option
      Has optional supportive accessories
Big company with good after sales support and parts (if ever required)

      Will that do?

Anyway you don't need a temperature gauge, do you use one when you cook with your pots and pans in the kitchen?

  • Was told forever to get one of these. Finally did at full price plus a hot plate for one half of it (it comes with a grill on both sides) and have never looked back some 7 years later. Nice find OP, rare sale.

I’d spend a few bucks more for the Q1200 with higher lid, electric starter and thermometer. These last years and the few extra bucks will be well worth it.

    • I bought the 2000 when the 2200 came out. Lot of people told me the lid won’t be an issue (it’s never been close to an issue), the temp won’t be used (it isn’t, after a few cooks you just now when it’s all ready, and just as importantly, the temp is not your meat temp it’s just one part of the air in there), and finally the electric starter needs batteries. Also fwiw mine starts every time on one or two clicks.

2000 is perfect if I’m cooking for our 4 family or if my parents and sis come over as well

    • +1

Yeah it may not be the $40. Over years not sure how many batteries you will pay for and throw out.

      • Haven’t replaced the original battery. Got mine in 2019. Of all the things we do that impact the environment one AAA is probably not one of the big ticket items. I’ll pop an eneloop in once the original dies out.

    • Basically the same thing I said but I got downvoted into the ground haha

      • Not really.. you bagged the deal and didn’t recommend any alternative lol the Q1000 is a great bbq but if people can stomach the few extra bucks the Q1200 has great QoL improvements

think I will wait for my husband's 60th and get him something like the Genesis e 325, or whatever is around then. More expensive but will give us great seared steaks and can do pizzas directly on their pizza stone (I don't care about the side burner). Sounds like a great upgrade to our old Beefeater (we upgraded that one years ago by taking out the stupid flame tamers, adding a steel grill under the grill plates and heat beads instead…so we get a nice flame and smoky flavour. Can't get it past the 240, roughly, degree temp though with the hood down. The steaks do get grill marks, but can never get that great searing that they get in restaurants. We bought this bbq in 2005, so by the time I upgrade it, it will be almost 20 years old hahaha

  • Weber after service is excellent. almost 10 years old, they changed the ignition and pipe etc for free.
