Bimawen 16" 1920x1200 IPS Portable Touchscreen Monitor US$88.51 (~A$138.75) Delivered @ Bimawen AliExpress

690
BEST14

Really low price on this 16" portable monitor that has a touchscreen which isn't commonly found in the lower price monitors. The cheapest price is on the US plug with the AU plug costing a tad more at US$89.98 (A$141.05). Normally your computer or any old phone charger is enough to power these.

While 16" is certainly less portable than 14" and 15.6" offerings it'll still fit in large backpacks and I find they're a good companion to larger monitors if you're wanting to run Teams etc. on something smaller.

Featuring a 16" IPS display with 1920x1200 touchscreen display, 16:10 aspect ratio, 60Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB colour gamut, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400cd/m² brightness, dual speakers and supports VESA mounting. There's two USB-C ports for display/power and power input, PD passthrough charging, Mini HDMI and a 3.5mm audio jack.

A HDMI to Mini HDMI cable, USB-C to USB-C cable, USB-A to USB-C cable and protective case are included.

  • Im sure we can play siwtch on this portable monitor but as i have surface pro 5 already Can i play nintendo switch on it?

    Ok answer is not direct.
Can, Use hdmi capture device but lag

    • +2

Says in the monitor description that it has a direct Switch connection. I'm assuming this is via USB-C. I've got the same model Surface Pro as you and yes, there's not a decent way to use it as an external monitor as far as I'm aware.

  • +2

Anyone have any feedback on these portable monitors? In the market but no idea what to expect

    • +1

I've had one set up as part of my WFH/study set up (2x 25" monitors + 1x portable + Laptop screen) for a few years and it does what it needs to do.

Played some switch on it, no issues, but if that's your use case make sure you look for one that doesn't need a dongle/dock.

      • Have a 32" monitor but would just like something to keep an eye of discord etc. Should fit the purpose fine. Thanks for the feedback :)

        • it's just extra screens to help with overall workflow. I moved to a big 32" monitor and laptop screen set up, kept having to move windows/apps around so went back to a 3 screens. Now I'm using 4 at home, I "struggle" with 3 when i'm in the office. :D

        • I always have one spear screen for YouTube, so… it's better to have the extra.

    • I don't have this model, but I got a 2K non-touchscreen 16" to pair with my MacBook Pro 16" for working on the go. The screen pairs well with the MacBook, and whilst it doesn't have the same viewing angles and colour depth, it does a very good job for the price and portability. It's really only something I would get for portable work if that helps.

  • Looks like a price for the smart home dashboard. Any downsides?

Also, the store is 3 months old and has no ratting yet. Any comments?

    • You typically don't see feedback on "Choice storefronts" as Choice products are shipped by AliExpress and not the seller. There's been plenty of deals posted

      • +1

Yeah, I've just seen that Ali now offers late delivery compensation and 75 days protection for this and for all Choice products particularly?

This price for a touchscreen dashboard is tempting for me if not much of other downsides.

Edit: Since it ticks all my requirements, I decided to "no stress" and pull my trigger. Paid $140.65

        • +1

          damn, AU$142.96 for me

  • Will paying with PayPal incur PayPal exchange rates even if paying in USD?

    • During PayPal checkout there will be the option "See currency options" for you card and if you choose to bill in USD then it'll be your card's exchange rate and not PayPal. Useful if you have a card without currency conversion fees as you'll get the direct Mastercard or VISA rate.

  • I only have one DP port left on PC. Can I use a DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter in between?

    • Yep, make sure you buy an ACTIVE adaptor.

    great brand name!

    • Hodor for the Qitiandasheng version. 5k, 166Hz, freesync, and fries.

BEST14 the discount coupon doesn't work on checkout - error saying "This code can't be used in combination with other offers…"

    • Also getting this error @Clear ?

      • New user banner?

        • Sorry, I don't follow?

          • +1

@kbw: If you're a new user there's normally a new user banner and it gives you a new user discount. That's likely why it won't apply. Unless you have a different coupon applying automatically. Tbh I don't really know.

  • Has anyone that owns the 2.5k 144hz version of this monitor been able to get it to actually work at 144hz?

The closest I can get is 130hz over usb-c.

  • Any 144hz monitor at this price?

  • Does this work with a Moto G82?

    • I can see why you ask - Motorola Australia has a page that bangs on about "Ready for…", an app driven protocol to drive an external display, but no link to any compatibility table, wheras you can get to one with effort on the U.S. site:

      https://en-us.support.motorola.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1…

From the look of it, the display can - but your phone can't, so probably not.

      You get Nada here.https://en-us.support.motorola.com/app/home

My old LG V30 will pop it's display up on these without any farnarkling which is one reason I have gone back to it and retired the RealMe 7. If I could only find the animal that fed LG's design team the mushroom soup…

  • +1

Anyone used this with a raspberry pi? Assuming there are no issues as it's just HDMI.

    Does the touchscreen work?

    • +2

I'd imagine that you may need to follow one of the many guides regarding activating touch on a "HAT" driven display for touch, but there's no reason why it shouldn't.

  • Does touch work with HDMI out on laptops?

    • +1

if it's like the other screen I had it needs USB connection as well as HDMI

    • HDMI doesn't supply power, but there is a cable provided so, yes.

  • If you're just putting this on desktop next to your 1st mon, how are these vs normal mons?

    • +1

For me I have an ultrawide so a 16" sitting infront works really well.

  • I picked up something similar on Amazon when I saw these posted here a month ago. Price was actually the same but quicker shipping and return policy.

It was obviously a defect from supplier where laptop manufacturer refused. They had these weird wet blotch spots.

So I replaced it, same problem.

However I left the replacement on, the splotches warmed up disappear. I just need to wait about 2 minutes.

For the money I was very happy in the end.

Didn't get touch screen, thought that may result in potentially lower quality display.

  • +3

Thanks @clear. I bought it. Even though I don't know why. But that's not the point. The point is that I got it.

    • me too. I'm sure I'll find a use for it.

  • +1

I said to myself i wouldn't get another one cause the last 2 broke.

But i truly am a sucker for these things. I'm a huge fan of touch screen, and finally, I can rectify the issue that my work laptop's screen isn't touch screen.

  • Anyone know will this works on old 2012 macbook pro.
    Available ports :

    Apple Thunderbolt Display
Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter
    Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA
Adapter Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter

The problem for me today is not spending money on this stuff, which I'm not sure I will use it or not. The trouble is I spent another hour looking for a cheap stand for it…..

    • What did you find in the end?

      • I gave up on those that were all above my budget. I end up with a double side sticky tape to glue it on the wall.

  • Considering this 14" instead, thinking that it's just that tiny bit more portable… 125 or so with the welcome code. Hovering on the checkout button…

  • Anyone got one of these? Does it work over type-c only or require HDMI?

A lot say they work over just type-c but don't.

    • What devices are you testing USB-C with and are you using the right cable? I haven't had any issues with USB-C PD cable with my laptops and Samsung phone. Also, off topic but often the touchscreen models are thicker than the non touch screen. Not sure if anyone has found a sleek/thin touchscreen model at a decent price but yea for portability I tend to prefer the sleek non touch models.

      • I had issues with different brands using standard type-c 100w cables and laptop / Samsung phone

        Hopefully this one works

  • First 16:10 I have come across. Has anyone found a cheap-ish 16:10 14 or 14.5". All the 14" being 16:9 is what is holding me back at the moment.

EDIT: Nevermind, i must have been not looking properly on previous searches as I just found one immediately, ideal ppi for 100% scaling for me too,

Missed out on the promo code BEST14 has expired. This morning I should have bought instead of working !!.

@Clear, Is there another active promo code we can use?

    • +1

September schedule hasn't been released yet. There will be small discounts for the first week of the month.

  • Successfully ordered. Now have a message saying no stock please cancel order.
Based on previous experience I assume me cancelling doesn’t impact their stat’s whereas a failure to fulfil it does.

    • +1

Same. Yea there must be a reason why they ask us to cancel rather than cancelling it themselves. Frustrating cos I ordered this and sold my smaller portable monitor straight away. Lol my fault.

    • +1

On the same boat but I will wait for them to cancel the order as it's 15 days guarantee delivery which means they will have to give you $1 credit if it cannot be delivered.

    • same message, I replied I’m happy to wait and got no response, just shipping notification last week. It arrived today, I’m very happy with the image quality, less happy with build but main issue is the annoying flickering of part of the screen every 3-4 seconds on usb c(tried on laptop, mac mini and windows pc on bith usb-c ports)

    • +1

They asked me to cancel the order as well, but I did not cancel, they posted just a day before the end date. shipping was fast I received it in 6 days. Build quality is not good. It came in brown cardboard packaging and does not have anything written on the monitor, it's plain black. I am not sure if they have sent the correct item or the item I paid for, there is no way to know. Overall screen looks fine, I can't see any dead pixels or flickering system showing it as WINGCOOL, It is supposed to have HDR but the system says not supported. Well end of the day it is not a very expensive monitor.

  • Yes I’m holding out. They are still selling with eu plug so I’ve asked for a swap.
    Very scammy.

  • 6 days until auto refund and not shipped yet - hmm not the usual 'shipped the next day' experience..

  • It arrived! - Seems good except few bad pixels.. anyone have experience with Ali / the vendor on how bad pixels are managed?

    • mine arrived today too, haven’t noticed bad pixels, only screen flickering every few seconds :(

      • Mine was flickering too but then switched to the other USB C port and all good 🤷‍♂️

        • tried 3 computers(mac and windows) Hdmi and usb c(all ports) nothing :(. I sent it back. AE said I will get full refund and reurn shipping costs($58.80) refunded. Seller now says to contact AE and AE says they can only offer store credit/coupon 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

    • after providing couple of evidences AE agreed to offer partial refund of ~40%

  • Arrived. Great device except touchscreen isn't working on mine.

    • Are you using Windows? Do you have a USB-C to A cable connected or something else?

      • Windows. USB-C to USB-C.

        • It would be worth connecting a second cable to see.

          • @Clear: Thanks for the advice. Same story unfortunately. Tried with 2 laptops too. However, realised it just doesn't work when I use it as my 3rd monitor. If I disconnect one of my other monitors and use this as my 2nd monitor, the touchscreen is working. Getting a bit of intermittent flickering though but it's only every few minutes so it's tolerable. I haven't read the description in detail yet since I'm working but wonder if anyone else is using it as their 3rd monitor and if touchscreen still works for them? Thanks.

            • @ritzaus: Some laptops can be funny about 3 screens. Normally running through a hub/dock fixes it.

              • @Clear: Ah yes sorry didn't mention. I am using a Dell Thunderbolt 3 dock. Thanks.

  • I was refunded without any reason! sucks

  • Mine came through eventually. Lots of hassling me to cancel.
I said a eu plug was ok. No further messaging from them after that but one with a U.S. plug arrived.
Surprisingly good. Touch works on windows.

  • My touchscreen came damaged with few dot pixels and a horizontal line . Messaged seller, he ignored or blocked me so put in a dispute and got a full refund. Prob cos I didnt want to cancel my order. But anyway free touch screen monitor :)

Monitor is able connect to my s21 via dex, touchscreen works great. Also connects well with sisters m1 pro but the touch screen does not work with that.

Also, can anyone pin point how to connect the switch to monitor? Tried the hdmi or usb c cable already provided but it doesnt connect at all. Im having issues

    Thank you
