Free Smoothie or Shake with Fuel Purchase @ 7-Eleven

1250

Basically the same as the free coffee. Will be an absolute nightmare with the speed of the machines.

Usually $3 (with app) - $4.50 (I think, idk, nobody buys them)

Enjoy the calories!

bought one before as free introductory. Machine crapped out, tasted horrible. i prefer their ice coffee or coffee melt giveaway.

    • +11

Yea they’re pretty gross. There’s like 8 flavour pouches underneath (it doesn’t lock, so pull the bottom door open like a fridge and check it out for yourself) and they all just mix with ice (one is called smoothie base, no idea what it tastes like.) It’s basically frozen cordial.

      • +4

Really? They taste great IMO. At $4.50 it's a bargain compared to the crap you get elsewhere, $3 is no brainer.

        • +1

They’re more Starbucks style for sure, which is not my style. I don’t mind these to be honest, but they are incredibly sweet. A good treat though, surely.

I always go for frozen berries blended up at home but that’s obviously much more expensive and way less convenient.

  • @stickyfingers how often do they clean the smoothie machines? Would you have one from a random 7-11 store that you didn't work in?

    • +25

Daily. It’s a pita and takes a fair while. The machine takes you through step by step and it involves taking the guards, rails, and cup platform out, spraying everything inside with a chlorine based solution including the nozzles and wiping them throughly, and placing cleaning cups in with a similar mixture that the blade spins itself through.

There is also a more intensive weekly clean. They are extremely clean despite what the exteriors may have you believe.

      • +1

        Thanks for confirming!

      • +1

There was a machine apparently mid clean but I didn't know and the screen said 'continue' and other buttons so I pressed them thinking it was for the smoothie, and when I went to the counter the staff gave me a huge telling off and that he'd have to start it all over again and it would take ages. The way he said it made me feel pretty bad for pressing stuff I wasn't meant to, but then again it all could have been avoided with a 'Cleaning' or 'Out of order' sign…

        • The staff member should have had the door of the machine left wide open at least.

I wouldn’t have been upset, I’d only be worried you might get sick from any chemicals that could have gotten in your cup.

Is there a minimum om how much I have to spend on fuel?

    • +15

LOL - I think if you squeeze the bowser trigger gently, you might get away with $0.63 these days! Does that help?

    • +1

I think min is 2L for the pump.
You could fill for the mower in a 5L jerry can

    • +27

I spent $0.23 on fuel at another 7-Eleven when I wanted a coffee last week.

Pump says minimum 2L. The pump is a liar.

      • +5

What did you do with that 3 millilitres of fuel?

        • +9

Not even enough to get high

        • It's actually 0.1L

        • +7

I used it to drive to the front door of the store and get my coffee.

      • +5

Awesome, sounds good to me :P

If I can get 2c of fuel and pay in cash, it should round down to $0

        • +3

I’d give you a free donut for that.

    • Is there a minimum om how much I have to spend on fuel?

      No

+Free smoothie or shake with fuel

One free smoothie per fuel transaction. Not in conjunction with any other smoothie/shake/frappes offer. Only available at smoothie stockist stores. Valid to 02.10.2023.

  • Not sure, now everytime I purchased the fuel, there is ALWAYS free coffee purchased and deduct right next to it? Does 7/11 offering free coffee atm?

    • +33

Free coffee ends today. There is an issue where if you scan your app it will cancel the free coffee, you have to ask them to manually reactivate the coupon in that case.

Please don’t be a dick though like 99% of the Uber drivers and just grab a cup after you pay for your fuel; we can’t add the coupon after you’ve paid and the franchisee is then out of pocket because corporate won’t reimburse them.

I’m actually excited to tell them no when they grab a cup after tonight; they come into the store with their headphones in, ignore you when you say hi, hold up their discount card like they’re king, pay, grab a cup, get their coffee, and walk off with such entitlement.

Just smile or say hi. I’d probably give you a doughnut or something if it was the right time of day.

      /rant

      • +3

I agree with some of the behaviour from customers these days acting all entitled. It is a common theme amongst Uber and other rideshare drivers.

We deal with their vehicles and sometimes we have to tell them to go elsewhere because it isn't worth the hassle.

      • +3

I swear donuts only get given to pretty ladies who probably dont eat them. I have never been offered anything. My friend worked at 7-eleven and he confirmed that they kept the free goodies for girls only.

        • +2

I go out of my way to do the opposite. Freebies go to people being pleasant or look like they are having a rough day but putting effort in anyway. Lots of free pies to tradies looking like they just came off a 12 hour day.

        • +1

I give them to nice people who don’t look like they’d snitch.

Sometimes I’ll have told someone to go to the cabinet and grab what they want for free.

While they are filling up a bag, somebody rude will come in and go to get doughnuts not knowing I am giving them away.

If they’d have been nice to me I would have told them to grab what they like for free. But they weren’t, so I let them pay for it while the other customer is having a blast getting as much as they want for free.

      • Yeah was following your AMA, will have to find the right servo to come see you round midnight for a hot chocolate coffee and donut

        • Hope to see you around!

      • Please don’t be a dick though like 99% of the Uber drivers and just grab a cup after you pay for your fuel; we can’t add the coupon after you’ve paid and the franchisee is then out of pocket because corporate won’t reimburse them.

Solved by the operator asking "Would you like a free coffee today?" or "Would you like to claim your free coffee?" before completing the coupon step, instead of grumpily staring into the screen hoping the customer disappears. The way the cups are staged right in front of the customer with the big "FREE" written on them.

        • +3

It’s a bit hard when they have their earbuds in and won’t even look at you. Usually they’ll be on a call too and they’d likely consider you rude if you interrupted them.

I do ask usually, unless the customer is in a rush. Sometimes during the night I don’t ask because I don’t want to encourage you to stay in the store longer than you need to as I have a lot to get done. I would never say no if you asked though.

      • Lol the 7-11 at my place always adds the coffee if you scan your card even if you don't want it. I reckon they just pocket the difference.

I see it on there no matter what.

        • I reckon they just pocket the difference.

That’d be it. At least it makes up for the ones who just take it I guess.

  • Had one recently from a 7/11 in Japan on a 42 deg C day, and my god it was a lifesaver!

  • +6

I want free fuel with a Smoothie purchase.

  • +2

The iced crush drinks in the smoothie machine are really nice, but i don't get them often due to the calories. I remember going to a 7-eleven tasting years ago and they were looking at f'real machines. They were amazing. Smoothies where you grabbed the ice cream out of the freezer, put it in the machine and chose your thickness. You could have them as thick as McDonalds thick shakes used to be. Just looked them up and found out some places nearby now have them in stores, so I might have to hunt them out.

    • Just looked them up and found out some places nearby now have them in stores

You mean 7-11 or other stores? I'm keen for a cheap smoothie

      • +1

Other stores. BP in Carrum Downs is one for instance

  • It 5his for the whole month?
Offer say September, but sept starts on Friday?

    • Yeah it is. I’m yet to confirm the start date but I’ll update it it’s different to the 1st. The coffee ends tonight.

      • The deal is live now and runs until the 2nd of October.

  • -1

The guy yesterday seemed surprised that I declined the free coffee offer. But surely the vast majority of the population wouldn't drink 7Eleven coffee, even when it's free?

    • +2

I only drink long blacks, and they're good enough as hot bitter flavored water with caffeine.

    • I’ve found that those who get fuel don’t want coffee and those who get get coffee don’t get fuel.

And if they do get fuel and coffee they’d rather pay for a large or super haha.

  • +8

These are quite nice, definitely worth $0

    • Last time i tried it was syrup on top of crushed ice. Not sure if the machine didn't make it properly. I would have chosen iced coffee if i had known that in advance.

      • +1

I've tried a few now. The best one so far is called something like "Breakfast smoothie"… can't recall exactly.
        Give them another go

        • Agree that one (or one of thr choclate flavour one) had a thicker base so made it more smoothie like

  • Is the smoothie different from the slurpee?

    • +3

Yes it is, it's a whole seperate machine.

    • One is unhealthy for you, The other is a slurpee 😅

  • I had this and thought it was pretty cool, but it did make a mess on the outside of the cup.

  • Just a random question if someone here knows the answer….

Do you have to buy fuel when you have to redeem the 7th visit reward?

I paid for fuel for my previous visit but did not grab the reward on that instance.
I don’t need to refuel anytime soon but can I just walk into the store and scan my phone & grab the reward?

    • +1

No you can just go in & get the freebie, done it a few times myself.

      • Ok cool. I might give them a visit without my car.

    • +2

mitt is right. Any purchase is acceptable. No minimum.

You can only scan once every 20 minutes though and only up to 3 times within 24 hours. You can have multiple accounts though.

The reward offering is also the same for every account each month. This month it was a free regular coffee, large Slurpee, or lamington Mars bar.

      • Multiple accounts on the same device could lead to a G09 error (account ban) at least that's common in the fuel-lock thread.

  • +1

These are nice, but they are also pure sugar with some ice added in for garnish.

  • When you said your housemates got fat from the donuts, did that actually happen or just exaggeration?

    • +2

Exaggeration, but they’ve definitely gained weight.

I usually bring home at least 8 a night. Sometimes there will also be sandwiches, iced coffee, etc.

      • Can I buy them off them

        • +1

Smile at me when I serve you and you can have as many as you want

  • Which is the best flavour? I tried the strawberry one a while back and thought it was way too sweet.

    • +2

I tried double choc smoothie last night and it was almost the same as the Maccas chocolate frappes

  • Seeing as people are commenting more generally about 7-11, I'll say that I like their petrol price-lock facility. I do buy their Slurpies but only the low callorie ones, where I have a problem with their flavour offers. Generally, they only offer two flavours, one of which will be out-of-order, giving you only one choice - which is almost never COLA which is what I want!

As to the App, they recently had an offer for Reese's bars for $1.00 When I went to pay (together with my petrol and Slurpie) they tried charging me $1.00 for the first Reese's and $2.50 for the subsequent 3. I told them this must be a mistake, but was told "no", that the specials only applied to the first one item being purchased! What crap! Have you ever heard that at any other store?

    • There are only 1 or 2 no sugar flavours a month. The reason there are only 2 no sugar barrels is because we can’t ever put sugar bases syrup in them. If we do for some reason it undergoes a full intensive clean so there is no trace of sugar.

All flavours (every single one except Cola which is branded Coca-Cola) are Fanta branded (made by Coca-Cola anyway.) If the machine is out or order it is either out of syrup and they are too lazy to change it (it takes 3 minutes), they have no syrup left (manager should be on top of ordering it, it comes on nightly deliveries with everything else), the machine has a serious issue in which a technician needs to come out for, or it’s in defrost (for 5 - 10 minutes at most).

There is actually a symbol to the right of the defrost symbol that indicates it ran out of syrup. You could also lift the front of the machine up and read what the screen says, although you might get questioned for that lol.

In regards to the bar, the POS will only do what it is allowed to, yes we can price override without manager approval very easy, but the owner will not get reimbursed for the promo by corporate. It also won’t count to their promo sales percentage.

Make multiple accounts, they don’t need a phone number, just an email.
I wouldn’t care if you swapped accounts unless there was a big line and you held it up, or I was in a rush on overnights and needed to get back to the delivery.

The best thing to do would be to screenshot all of your account’s cards so you can rapid fire them.

For anyone interested, the smoothie system (machine and ingredients) are made by Fresh Blends.

  • I purchased fuel with smoothie today but just got 1.5$ discount not totally free…

    • huh??

      • yeah, make sure it’s free before you pay. I think it got discount with app offer for $3 smoothie other than free with fuel purchased.

    • Same here. Not going to chase $3 though.

  • +1

I actually really like these. The one I think it's mango and orange or something? Delish on a hot day.

  • +1

These are so messy when they come out.
    Drips and everything.
My local only had frappes left booo

  • Which is better - the Smoothie or Shake?

  • How do you know which stores sell smoothies? Not all stores do.

    • I went inside to check, before I got my 2L of fuel.

    • You can find machine locations on the Fresh Blends website.

      • I just checked that site and it only showed 1 out of the 4 machines that I know of.

        • I learnt my lesson today.
          1. Go inside and check, is there a machine and is it working and my final lesson - does it have a flavour you want.
          2. Once this is confirmed, then you can pump exactly 2L of fuel.

          • @shoppe: You even need to check the machine each time you go to the same store to make sure it’s not out of order/cleaning when you go in.

          • +1

@shoppe: You don’t even need 2L. The pump doesn’t care and the POS doesn’t either.

It’s also not the attendant’s job to care.

            Get that 10c smoothie 🤙

            • @stickyfingers: Hey mate, you seem like a good person. With the fuel price lock thing, how does that work, does the store with the lower price get the sale or the one you go to? I feel guilty giving my business to the more expensive store whilst the people with cheaper petrol are going without.

              • @Emerald Owl: The one that gets the sale. Corporate eat the cost. It doesn’t really matter to the store anyway though as the franchisees make almost nothing on fuel. About $2k a month on a residential area store.

Fuel is just there to bring customers in the store to buy other things; and it works, probably 8/10 customers buy something else with fuel.

Corporate also eat the cost of this promo.

                • @stickyfingers: Thank you so much. If the lock saves me $15, surely the more expensive store made an extra $15?

                  • @Emerald Owl: I made an error in my AMA but the store only makes around $0.015 per litre and corporate takes 50% of that. So the store actually makes $0.0075 per liter. So the store you purchased the fuel at would make about $0.0825 on that extra $15. I wouldn't worry about it, buy a coffee, Slurpee, chocolate bar, or drink if you'd like to support the store.

  • Can someone confirm this offer is working with fuel price lock?

    • I used it on Friday and yesterday with a fuel price lock.

      • Didn’t work. Got charged $4.50. Glad I always ask for receipt went back and got my change. Bloke also told me my fuel was only $30 when it should have been $80 lol. trainee I think..

The hersheys cookie flavour is quite nice and not too sweet.

        • Didn’t work. Got charged $4.50.

Show them T&C's on the app.
          It should have been free…

If you have the receipt and email their support team, they'll add a free one to your account.

          • @jv: The manager berated the trainee in front of me, handed me $4.50 and apologised. Young bloke didn’t seem to have a clue what he was doing at all. Seems they might have to manually apply the discount..

    • Yep, got one last night…

    • Douche bags charged me for it.

    • Got denied the free smoothie because it’s either the price lock or the free smoothie

      • +1

He’s wrong. Redeemed with fuel lock multiple times and manager told the trainee he needs to make sure it is free when people are getting fuel, including with lock.

      • +1

        Nah. They’re full of it.

  • Seems to be a coin flip on if the attendant thinks you can or cant combine it with a price lock. Anyone who works at 7-11 know the magic words I need to get the attendant to run both promos? The one close to me will absolutely refuse to combine a price lock with this promo.

    • +4

Get them to press “Coupon Lookup”. It’s a grey button on the left hand side of the POS. They can manually apply it from there. It should just auto apply when they add a smoothie to your transaction though.

      • +1

I actually just used your post to show a staff member how to do it lol. Glad to see it's not just my company that has zero training.

        • But why should this be a manual thing when it's an auto promotion? I shouldnt have to mention it.

          • @spy: I am guessing their POS software can only auto-apply a single promotion, additional promos have to be stacked manually. Most internal business software is janky like this, especially when you have a high cost associated with switching suppliers, all the incentive to fix bugs/improve usability vanishes.
