  • Is this a pre-order? I haven't been able to find a good review for this yet.

It seems there's a lot of people with a lot of faith in Samsung to pre-order/early-order this when their previous G9s had a lots of issues.

    • Unfortunately, that's the case. It's very odd how secretive this monitor release has been. Usually we get a good dose of information before now.

      • The only thing missing is a day one release review. Otherwise they have advertised it on youtube, their main page etc

    • Can confirm Its not pre order, mine shows up Friday, they already booked courier. Perfect timing for starfield šŸ˜

One would hope they have it sorted given how long its been since they announced it, but it is samsung….

Id say samsung isnt giving youtube kiddies review units to fap over hence no reviews because would cost a fortune logistically and high chance of damage, only things on youtube seem to be gamescon or other previews from events.

Did find it funny they all crying about its not a gloss screen which is hilarious given they are meant to be video editors.

I think most ppl buying arent spending that kinda coin for just gaming and is prob more work first games second.

But there should be some reviews from major outlets. My theory is that Samsung has been having quality issues with their products - e.g. G9 Neo, 990 PRO SSDs, and want to try a different route this time.

It seems you are trusting Samsung despite the past issues. I'm on the opposite side. I need to see reviews and videos before I commit to a large investment.

        Hope you enjoy yours mate!

        • I get were youre coming from given the purchase price, there is fairtrading if they decide to dick me around, its pretty straight forward to do just most dont bother, ive taken newegg to fairtrading before and took 3 weeks pretty quick compared to the horror stories above but most people like being taken for a ride, much like most ppl fill out forms with all their details….

Probably more the case that they dont need reviews, i dont see many reviews for asus proart 3000 aud displays unless the reviewer is tonguing asus, and similar with apple products if it didnt get the views ppl wouldnt buy them to review as an example unbox therapy reviews them because the return is there on views.

Maybe i should start a review channel as ill be one of the first to review :P.

I dont need reviews the majority of them dont know what they are talking about apart from things like gamersnexus most just read off the pr card.

Like the idea glossy is better in one "preview"šŸ¤£ its a productivity monitor in gamer dress, only games getting 240fps to line up with 240hz is csgo.

I see it as productivity monitor because matt finish and ultra wide which for most games will be lol cos hud in the far parts of screen. This view coming from 3x LG 31mu97 DCI 4k actual 4k monitors, I value having lots of wide realestate for timeline in davinci and excel etc.

I def know what you mean about samsung though those korean brands like taking marketing to the extreme limits of what is acceptable claims them and lg.

Those sammy ssd's in general are another example they make all these claims and make the numbers big where they dont count also with their enterprise ssds buggy as hell thats why i dont trust them generally but when they jave no competition in this market segment of monitors i just have to trust au good consumer protection laws.

Good thing I work in marketing šŸ˜‰

  • Anybody living in Tasmania had success ordering from the Samsung shop? Looks like they dont deliver to the penal colonies..

      • How long did it take to get delivered from time of order?

        • +1

Ordered Tuesday arrived today 7am (Fri) Western Syd to Syd.

    • @ndssp have you gotten HDR to work?? I can get 8k2k to work with VRR but HDR tone mapping in sammy menu just says unavaliable.

      • Haven't check that yet, will take a look once get home, my one actually got worse uniformity issue, I am in the replace process with Samsung atm, hope it doesn't take months …

        • Ah man thats no good, I havent really checked that yet. I noticed that it does this weird dimming thing atm where dark areas it makes everything darker like a lot harder to see mouse but i think its a setting i have on that i need to turn off.

          • @RBZ10: regarding your question, you might need to turn on the hdr setting on display setting if you are using windows, then you could choose the mapping from static to active

  • How good is the 1000r curve in terms of productivity?

    • Just got mine today, tiz a bit interesting as the nav is a bit stretched in the sense that its sooo wide, def need to sit back thats for sure.

Excel is crazy big A to DN.

Davinci resolve studio works well id say apart from the preview section but can adjust the settings im sure (just inital opening of app)

Only thing annoying for me specificially is getting used to peasant 4k again (coming from 3x DCI 4k monitors 4096x2160) so everything seems a bit bigger :/.

I use 100% text scaling as no point to a higher res mon if you just rescale everything to 150% or 200%.

but so far so good, still sorting the brightness and colour settings and waiting for my UHBR20 DP2.1 cable to arrive, dont trust the samsung one to be max speed of DP spec given it doesnt even have the latching buttons on it.

      • thanks RBZ10.

Mine arrives tomorrow. Looking forward to pairing it with the 7900 xtx. Are you able to link tyke cable you got.

Seems 2x4k at 240hz is going to require a special kind of cable… with that said, unsure why samsung wouldn't suppy a cable that can do it

  • Would this be a good monitor for photo editing? I can't seem to find the details on the sRGB gamut details. I have been looking for a monitor that can be decent enough for productivity/photo editing and gaming. also I have the 4090

    • Its a 10 bit panel with Typ 95% of the DCI colour space so it should be greater than sRBG as DCI as it provides a more extensive colour range, especially for professional and cinematic purposes, although its interesting that they dont specify sRGB on samsung site.

I might see if I can calibrate the monitor with an old colour calibrator I have but no promises!

Thank you very much! This is helpful

  • Anyone get theirs delivered yet? samsung shipped with DHL, Sydney > QLD 10 days later no update. Shockingly slow delivery…

    • that sounds strange to me I'd say they have either paid for the cheapest transport rates or they are factoring in all the processing time at samsung. Sydney they seem to use a local courier service.

For reference I work in the logistics industry and nothing takes 10 days even by road which is what is most likely the form of transport for your shipment. But with free shipping you're at the mercy of the seller unfortunately….

      • Thats what I'm curious about, Every other courier I've dealt with is no more than 5 days. I have no idea where my parcel is, even calling DHL they said they couldn't tell me where it was..

Only thing I've got to go by is samsung says delivery on the 13th on their website. Not holding my breath lol

    • it does show pre-order, maybe OOS. i ordered the 32" G5 and it got delivered within a week

      • Was it shipped with DHL and are you rural or metro? I definitely ordered in stock (28th august). Their website says "Arrives on 13/09/23 Delivery Only (Drop Off Service) Regional" Thats all I've got to go by. Was your date accurate?

        • Metro by ANC, i had selected the 7th but got on the 8th

          • @kehuehue: Yeah ok so its safe to assume me being regional is slowing down delivery, Although I'm barely north of Brisbane but thats ok. Should come next week then! Thanks for reply.

            • @OzGuy93: yeah if its not metro they only do limited runs as obviously not profitable to drive out there for 2 or 3 items or even 20 for that matter, they use a lot of route optimisation software to maximise efficiency.

if ordered on 28th and regional they would have used cheapest delivery option (longest time) as there is an expectation and excuse for what they deem regional. DHL prob got given the item 5th or 6th for delivery on 13th.

like if deception bay or Narangba they'll class that as regional.

              • @RBZ10: Thanks for that info, I'm not holding my breath for delivery tomorrow. I contacted DHL to try and locate it. They said a 3rd party partner picked it up and they have no further info on it. What could that mean? Nobody knows where my parcel is
