  • Its great deal to add along with $20 off on $200 or more purchase.

Rep, any chance to bring jbhifi online purchase into cashback options like thegoodguys or amazon?

    • Hey mate, we're always working on getting favourites available in our Online Cashback program, so hopefully in the future! At the moment, no immediate plans for JB Hi-Fi to join us online I'm afraid.

  • -1

It turned back to 3% on my phone after reopening the app. Any ideal?

    • +4

Hey mate, this one starts tomorrow.

  • +14

    Shopback tracking sucks.

Relies on you to chase them up and always monitor the tracking status.

My recent purchase from Uniqlo failed to track. Contacted support just to get told I was 2 weeks over the "30-day Missing Cashback Reporting period" and nothing could be done.

    Just ain't worth it anymore…

    • I’ve never had an issue. I either use the app or a “vanilla” browser.

  • Nice

  • I've rarely used gift cards before and have a question. Can you use one gift card for multiple transactions? Example use a $200 gift card for a $50 purchase one day and then use the remaining $150 some other time/s?

  • -2

Most likely you wont get cashback tracked and they will reject your claim, thats how they make money,no customer service or anyone care about you

    • +4

Over got over $1000 cashback from shop back and I don't use it even close to as often as most ozbargainers.

      • I use both cashrewards and shopback, total tracked from shopback only about $200 and $500 from cashrewards, that doesnt make any sense will be that much difference.Especially I have 2 missed tracks from liquorland 29/06 @shopback and claim the missing track took me a month and I leave a comment like this in other deal OP told me to message him and just rejected my missing claim,as a comparison I have 2 missed tracks @cashrewards from first choice liquor and pizza hut both around July approved just over a week

      • I dont nomally use cashback or cashrewards, only if I saw a deal on ozbargain that uses one of them. But that doesn't mean anything if you got thousand cashback,if I buy a million its easy to get thousand cashback, the problem sometimes they don't track the worse they reject you claim and there is NO support at all.

      • Problem is, how many people actually keep track of EVERY single cashback they go through. I try my best to but i know there are some i forget about and then when i go look at it months later , i can see it got rejected and never got any cashback for it even though i did everything right. Its not that it fails every time but it does fail sometimes. And the issue is a lot of people on ozbargain look at Cashback as the same as a discount / bargain / credit etc, and its probably not the same as it means you have to wait up to 3 months (thats a lot of cashbacks in the meantime that you have potentially gone through) and then go back see if you got it or not. I doubt many people actually follow through to the end of the cashback to ensure they actually received it.

          • @ihuntbargains: Yes, I am not saying they rejected it but thats not my problem. Its up to them to fix the issue, if I have done everything right then the issue is with them and the merchant. My business is with cashback so i shouldnt have to worry if the merchant refuses it.

    • +1

Not my experience, I only had 3 rejected in all of 2022 and those were due to returns. I also have a spreadsheet where I track to ensure purchases are tracked. I haven't had to contact them all of last year for any missing tracked transactions either.

Proof I have withdrawn over $1500.

I have 2 missed tracks from liquorland 29/06

@cashrewards from first choice liquor and pizza hut both around July approved just over a week

Liquorland and First Choice are different companies. They dictate how long until they pay the referral to the cashback provider before they can distribute it it's users. Timing of things getting paid out is not the same for every single cashback provider.

      • +1

I can wait thats fine but I SAID the OP told me to message him and rejected my claims(also 2 months isn't a short waiting time),also other problem is thats funny you have to go to ozbargain to find customer support

        • +1

          2 months isn't a short waiting time

I understand that, but some companies do take 90 days, sometimes more to approve. That is not a Cashrewards or Shopback issue. They usually pay once the returns or bank chargeback window passes

@gotyourback perhaps you can advise why the cashback was refused based on the PM exchange with @yuisakas

          • @cute as duck: He said that to me,Im ok with that even expected date was 6/8/2023 but at the end got rejected, one story I have made total of 3 transactions within 5 mins at liquorland only the lowest amount got tracked(approved),guess thats how they make money.
PS:thats not just me ,plenty people from previous liquorland deal got rejected or tracked with different amount of cashback

          • -1

@cute as duck: Hey there all, rejections for missing Cashback claims typically come down to the merchant attributing the purchase to something other than ShopBack. Each purchase can be attributed to a myriad of services, such as Google from clicks of Google ads done previously, or other extensions or services interacted with. We will always escalate and advocate for customers to get the purchase attributed to ShopBack, as without that attribution we do not receive the commission to be able to pass on Cashback to users.

I understand how disappointing this can be and am always happy to do what I can to help out, but I do not reject claims, I have no power to be able to confirm or reject Cashback, I can help escalate claims and investigate certain circumstances, but the process does not come down to me, I'm afraid.

            • -1

@gotyourback: Cashrewards works well with missing cashback without problem, also nobody knows you rejected or who ever rejected the cashback, either if this is the way shopback makes money from or its different with cashrewards.
Also customer shouldn't need to know how SHOPBACK works with other companies about the cashback process, people go to restaurant if eat bad food will argue with the resaurant nobody cares if restaurant blame the ingredients provders or whatever.
If shopback can't deal with the cashback companies that on the list, take it down eg"liquorland",so many people got rejected or issued different amount of cash back.

  • @WookieMonster, please correct me if I am wrong, but JB Hi-Fi gift cards can be used to purchase other third-party gift cards (e.g. Apple) in-store or online, right?

I haven’t done this before, so I wanted to double-check before going at it :)

    • +1

I’m not WM but I can confirm yes, but I’ve only purchased GCs in-store, not even sure if it’s possible to purchase GC online.

    • +1

The JB Hi-Fi gift card terms and conditions allows this.

The instore checkout system allows this.

The online checkout system allows this.

Whether a JB Hi-Fi staff member in a store will let you do this is a totally different question!

      • Do the T&C’s explicitly state that you can or simply fail to say you can’t?

        • +2

Clause 12 of the JB Hi-Fi gift card terms and conditions specifically allows this:

          12. A Gift Card can be used to purchase another third party gift card e.g. Steam Gift Cards, Xbox Gift Cards, Google Play Cards. However, a Gift Card cannot be used to purchase another JB Hi-Fi branded gift card.

However, the terms and conditions also says:

          9. Should JB Hi-Fi suspect any fraud relating to a Gift Card, JB Hi-Fi may refuse to redeem the Gift Card or cancel the redemption of the Gift Card.

You never know, you could have a staff member say that using a gift card to purchase a gift card is potentially fraudulent…

    • Which gift cards to JB Hi-Fi sell?

  • +4

    Ty GYB 🙏
    Maximum profit: $50 purchase for 6% base + 10% bonus ($5) = 16%

  • Can we use HIM card to purchase?

    • +1

Westpac card only which is linked to your ShopBack account.

  • +1

Would be better just buying the TCN cards when they're 15% off

    • Arent those in-store only? Theyre a bit of a hassle to deal with

  • Nice!

Just in time for our purchase of a new fridge to also make use of the $350 Smart Energy rebate here in QLD.

  • I'm going to buy the new iphone outright. Are discounted JB gift cards the best way to do it?

    • If by new you mean the upcoming one, then yes it is the best way. Brand new release wont be on sale until months down the road

  • thanks OP, just wondering how is the instant cashback for gift card differ from the normal cashback. Do I still have to wait for months before confirmed?

    • Hey mate, the pending period is about a week typically, so definitely far less of a wait for the Cashback to be approved.

  • @gotyourback Is $1500 the Max amount value gift cards you have? Any chance you guys offer a $2000 amount as jb only allow you to use up to 5 Max with online transactions

Is the Max number of gift cards you can buy from the shopback portal 4?

    • Is 5 max a recent change? Thought it was unlimited?

    • Hey mate, yeah $1500 is the highest denomination available to us, and 5 cards is the limit in one transaction.

  • Shopback app doesn't mention about use of Westpac card to get 6% or 7%. Can we use any other card?
Looks like, Westpac card is only required to get $5 on $50+ JB Hfi GC. But you can still get 6 or 7% on GC if you don't have Westpac Card. Is that correct?

  • I purchased a lot of $50 around 2am and only the base upsize tracked. Westpac bonus didn’t

    • Same here, bought around 12.30am and no gift card yet, Westpac bonus not tracked too

  • Hmm purchased the $50 and it isn't fulfilled yet…

    • OK it's here now. The $5 bonus is also in my history as "pending", along with the $3 of the actual cashback.

      • When did you purchase yours? Still waiting for both my gift card and $5 bonus cashback…

        • About 7.25AM first email about the 6% cashback, got the second email 9.20AM for the $5 bonus.

  • Made the purchase around 4am and the gift card still isn't ready. How long will it take? I need to make the purchase in store today.

    • Says within 24 hours.

      • Bummer, previous gift cards that I bought were all instant..

        • Maybe if you call them they can push it through? 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • Thanks, got the bonus 15min after purchase

    • Have you actually received the gift card?

      • Yeah I can see it in the Account > Gift Cards & Vouchers in the Shopback app

        • Is the gift card status Pending or Complete? Quite few of us bought many hours ago and still showing Pending.

          • @playbargain: Not pending for me, i also got the 6% cashback. I can open up the voucher as well. I only bought $50 worth tho so probably why mine was quick?

            How much did you buy?

            • @Stingray: 1x $30 and 1x$350. This is so annoying in this day and age it should be instant.

            • @Stingray: Still waiting for my one purchase that I bought, and only did one $50…

Edit: got my gift card, but Westpac bonus still hasn’t tracked

      • Nope, I'm still waiting and need it before 10am.

    • Seems like only you've received the gift card and the bonus cashback from Westpac, weird.

      • ..I feel special haha, I did it all in the App and not the website, not sure if that counts for anything. Bought the $50 gift card at 9:14, got an email that tracked the 6% cashback at 9:15, and got an email that tracked the Westpac bonus at 9:30.

      • -1

Mine finally came through for both the Westpac and gift card, the longest ever for a gift card

  • +1

first time I've bought gift cards through shopback, super smooth process and already tracked :)

  • +2

Cheers for waiting all, we faced some short delays this morning with gift cards being generated which also held up the Bonus, but should all be sorted now and your gift cards should all come through pretty much instantly now. Cheers for you patience!

  • +1

So you can't actually buy these gift cards from a pc? You have to install an app on your phone?

I'm not going to do that so guess I miss out.

    • Yeah SB does all their GC stuff on the app only.

    • One option is you can install the app, buy the gift card, then view and take a screenshot of it or download it, then uninstall the app if you want?

But if you are completely against installing the app on your phone in the place, then yes, you miss out.

  • I don't get why people are complaining about past purchases not tracking on THIS deal, this is gift cards through shopback, I don't think it is possible for this type of purchase to NOT track?

    Happy to be corrected?

  • Does anyone know how many gift cards you can redeem for an online jb hi-fi click and collect order? I have 5 gift cards, can I use them all online?

  • I don't trust Shopback anymore. They became very griddy. My eBay plus membership tracked $15 cashback that supposed to be paid on 2 August hasn't been confirmed and they seem not willing to pay, referring to data from eBay etc. Messaged @gotyourback directly two weeks ago - didn't get any response.

    • Hey mate, sorry to hear of the trouble you've had, that's definitely not what we want. When Cashback is confirmed, it has to be finally approved by the merchant before it can be paid out which can cause delays from time to time, delays that we are always happy to look into and get sorted as much as possible. Apologies for missing your message, I'll take a look and help sort you out today.
