$5 interest in one month, huh? And IMB don't offer Qantas points. They're also not even the next rate around. Please clarify.

        • +2

arent you getting 4% in this account? What if you dont have a mortgage? you need to do your calculation on the difference of the other interest bearing accounts at around 5% that dont have the qantas points

        • +1

The 2000 Qantas Points you receive after one month with this offer are worth between $20-$120 (or possibly even more) depending on how you use them, and you also receive the 4.05% per annum interest rate on you deposit.

For many people this offer has the potential to be a worthwhile use of their time.

@toasty: With respect, how is it that 2000 Qff points could ever be worth as much as $120? Do you mean if you get lucky and put them towards a RTW business ticket or something?

            • +1

@HappyPants: Yes, $120 or more value is obviously very difficult to achieve and only possible with very limited use cases, such as when booking a Oneworld Classic Flight Reward RTW itinerary.

The point being that 2000 QFF points is easily worth more than $5.

              • +1

                @toasty: I usually weight 100QF=$1
So 2000 QF will for sure better value than $5 in my equation

        • +1

You could easily recoup that "lost" $5 just by buying one less cup of coffee that month. Easy peasy. You could even push the boat out and buy two less coffees and gain $10. Free money there for the taking.

Because everyone has a house and an offset account?

      • anyone not having a house in oz is a 2nd class citizen

        • Or kids atm

        • Not everyone who owns a house is indebted with a mortgage haha. Best thing ever.

    Note that they state that:

The allocation of 2000 bonus Qantas Points will be paid into the Deposit customer’s Qantas Frequent Flyer Account within three months after the Promotion Period ends.

So if they’re as slow at crediting points as they were the last time they ran this offer, you probably won’t receive them until next year.

    • It will ask you to provid lengthy Id verification eg.
shoot a video of your self to verify your Id after the ac has opened

      • Especially after you deposit money into it, so that they can use red tapes to delay your money from being transferred out by yourself, the owner

  • Is this better than Banwest Qantas rewards account for points earning on account balances. Can find how you earn on balances kept for one month.

    Qudos horror story

Contacted Qudos about their Bunnings promotion on the 28/6. According to their email would receive a reply within 2 business days. Support replied on 5/7 that they did. Created an account, downloaded the app and received my BSB and account details. Deposited $1, received instantly via osko.

Then all the problems started. When withdrawing, the transaction was pending. Next day unable to login into app, was frozen, then received an email on 6/7 requesting further verification of identification, which I believe I provided in the sign up. I sent the requested documents on the same day. Qudos verified me and reenabled my account on 17/7.

I am still unable to withdraw my money to a working bank account and Payid in my name. I have emailed support, who told me to call up. I have called up and am still unable to transfer. The consultant said my recipient account details were wrong, which is unlikely as I have used the same exact details at other banks and they have worked on the same day as of the failed qudos transaction. It is also unlikely that a customer would get their mobile number wrong which even shows the name registered after one enters the mobile of the payID.

Avoid this scam of a bank. Even if it turns out not to be a scam where you can deposit but can never withdraw, the turn around time where they get things done for example look at the dates above which I have provided, to answer a email qudos took 7 days and to verify a photo it took 11 days. Yet to take their clients money, 5 seconds.

    • Talk to the Financial Complaints Authority

      https://www.afca.org.au/

      • +1

I already did. Qudos only got their act together once the afca was involved.

        • How is the result of the complaint? Usually financial institution would happy to compensate a customer privately so as for the customer to drop the case with afca, because afca charge them a fee for processing each case.

  • 2000 points * 0.018 = $36 worth of points. Not sure if its worth it?

    • Some people are very diligent in collecting QF points by shopping at WoW - and other places.

Given that you need 2000 WoW points for 1000 QF points, getting 2000 points from this deal is almost effortless comparing with shopping at WoW.

    • Wait, you'd value the points at 1.8 cents each? Where'd you get that value?! I am usually thinking of closer to 0.6 cents

  • 4.05% p.a. Interest rate

    Heck, tell them they're dreamin!

    • Why? What about those transaction accounts from other banks that earn 0% interest?

  • it has been 30 days now. No sign of QFFP for me yet.

      same here, waiting

        Kind Regards

        Tom

        • I got 30 points … :D

        • 2 months after the end period?? So all the way till end of Jan. That's ridiculous

          • @Purkulator: Does the $1000 have to sit in the account the whole time?

            • @Purkulator: Probably not. But I’m leaving it in there in case that’s a condition lol

  • So i opened this account few days ago. Deposited $1001 into the account then try withdraw $1 but keep getting error "Unexpected error. Please contact the FI". I've tried both with PayId and account but still same error.

    • I deposited $1 when I opened the account. Withdrew it. Then deposited 1001

      • Sent them a message and they replied next day that they fixed the issue. Must be some sort of security triggered. All ok now.

  • Is it a savings or transaction account?
