  My drop alt keyboard arrived today. New to the world of mechanical. Anyone familiar on mods to make it sound nice? I've seen people putting foam and lubricating things but not sure where to start or what to buy

    1. tape mode on the back of the pcb
    2. (if bothered) lube the switches
    3. (if bothered) lube the stablisiers - need krytox 205 or Permatex dielectric grease

      I saw some people lubing springs as well is that needed?

        taping makes it sound deeper + poppier

        people usually use dielectric grease for stabiliser wires and a lube like 205g0 for switch/stabilizer housing (but you can use 205g0 for everything i don't think the difference is that huge)

        you can buy from most australian keyboard websites: customkbd, switchkeys, dailyclack, allcaps etc - if you're confused on which lube can be used for what they usually tell you in the description or you can google it and you'll probably find a reddit thread or smth

        nothing is 'needed' in terms of keyboards, everything is just preference. that being said lubing springs makes the spring quieter + smoother which most people like so i would recommend
