If you yell at them enough and threaten to leave they might give u existing customers a free month too.

    • Yeah you can start yelling right before your free months runs out:)

    • Easier to churn, no?

    • they've got a well oiled retention team that does this, it's not a great deal overall, one month free, temporary appeasement at best. Always have a counter offer to argue your case. Have been a customer since the early netspace days but no longer feel any loyalty to the brand.

      • The loyalty was gone after they changed and then phased out gamesonet over 10 years ago.

        • games on net and free usenet access were incredible value from Internode, they were a great ISP and their user control panel had some quirky features that no other ISP offered.

$79.99 ongoing is expensive for 50/20

New provider every month for 1 month free. $$$$$

    • Yeah - extensive discussions about it in the previous deal. Who cares though, right? Churn baby churn.

      • I see, the deal doesn't lock you in so you can grab the month for free and move on. Nice

        • Actually - I'm not sure of the details. It's not the end of the world for me, if I need to give them 30 days notice.

          • +2

@salmon123: you don't but billing is about 14 days prior to the next month so you have to cancel before then and give them the service end date of the day prior to the next cycle

            • @Irishness: Good to know!

              • @salmon123: I've read others having drama to get it all resolved however they charged me for the following month but I had a refund done and all was quite easy, in terms of iinet I didn't find their speeds / pings that great in comparison to other providers

  • Do you need to give 30 days notice to leave like Exetel and Superloop?

    • I did this a few months back, can't remember the exact details but I definitely didn't give them 30 days notice, they do however try charge you for your second month about 2 weeks in, so I'd be using a "disposable" debit card or something similar for the signup to cover all bases.

    • No, but they will happily deduct a month in advance from your bank account, 2 weeks before that month even begin! So six weeks prepay in advance. No thanks. And if they can't deduct it early, expect to be harassed by daily threatening notifications, even though your still prepaid in advance 2 weeks.

  • $80 for 50/20, yikes that's bad

    • +1

Erm, the deal is for 1 month free, ie $0 … no one said anything about sticking to it for $80/month.

      • Yeah I know, but I'm talking about the service in general

  • Is this a "deal" (free month)? yes

Is it worth the time and effort knowing how bad the novus billing system is? probably not, even with some comments of people calling to cancel and getting offered a second free month apparently

    • Yeah - I always wonder whether churning is worth it, but here we are … another month … another churn!

  • $99.99 upfront cost after applying code. $10 hardware delivery (didn’t select any modem) + $89.99 fetch mini 4k setup fee

    • +3

You can unselect the fetch tv option which will reduce the upfront cost for $0.

  • More ISP for Comm Bank customers, same speeds around $55 pm for 12 months .. more after BUT .. 🤔 .. !! They're OK …

  • Where to go next after 1 month?

    • You can sign up to iiNet under another name at the same address.

Also hoping aussie broadband starts their 1 month free offer again.

5g is decent in my area too. YMMV.

  • Interesting, they dont have a "delay connection date" or so option.

  • 24 hrs passed, sitting at "NBN Order Accepted

    • Update to this - 48 hours later I called their support and was told there was an error with my order - that I already had an existing connection ……………………………….

  • FYI for others.

I used this offer this month. Sure it was $0 on sign up on 10th Jan. I was going to cancel early next month, however I just got hit with a 2-month invoice today with a direct debit on the due date of 1st Feb. I will cancel sooner than 1st Feb and hopefully able to get nothing charged from iiNet.

    • These guys are pretty stupid in their invoicing, I kept the service for 2 weeks and 2 days after the invoice got issued, I decided to go Superloop because 50 was too low anyway, it was a temp connection. and they charged me $2.27 for the 2 days even though it says 1 month free and i didnt use one full month yet.

at most use it for 2 weeks before hopping over.

      • Thanks for sharing, I’ll cancel mine asap

How is this tempting, even though I'm on TPG for life after that 84.95/mth 250/25 deal. Just the word free I guess lol

    • +1

Wish we had FTTP to get that deal wow

      • Yeah presumably they do this on FTTP homes to keep their averages up when they advertise "typical speeds" for each level

        • Have you seen the deal advertised recently?

  • +2

    not even remotely worth it

    • What's the issue? Free month is a free month.

  • Sorry 1MONTHOFF is not eligible for the selected plan.

Tried different plans / addresses. Code expired?

    • Remove the $10 off for 6 months promo then apply the 1MONTHOFF promo.
