Good deal, at least $50 cheaper than anywhere else in au (that's indexed on staticice)

    http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=MSI+GTX+680…

Cheapest non MSI 680 is a Gainward for $528.94 from NegaBuy.

This price is also comparable to what it would cost to get one from Amazon.

  • how is it compare to EVGA FTW?

    • +1

There's this thing called Google, it's been around for a while now. It's not hard to use, you should give it a try.

This card is $200 LESS than the EVGA FTW 680 and in all probability, it's only a few percent / fps slower. I'm sure if you do some googling, the answer isn't far away.

If you're willing to drop $700 on ONE card, then why not throw another $300 into the mix and get TWO of these. Win!

They could have used Google to find this cheap deal, so why did anyone bother posting this at all? Wait that's because its helpful to people, unlike the first part of your comment.

If you intend to be a smart ass, it's called Google Search, Google is a company, Google Search is the name of the software used to search for websites.

        • +2

If you intent to be the smarter ass, the word "Google it" is already the official term for searching something using Google Search.

You don't say Google Search it. You say Google it.

        • i say 'goggle it' just to be really really cooooool

        • @Letrico

Neither I or foobar said "Google Search it" or "Google it'. Foobar said "There's this thing called Google… you should give it a try". Please try reading our posts again.

Please tell me how it is the "official term" since Google themselves discourage "Google" as a verb, especially when used as a synonym for general web searching? It has something to do of them losing their trademark on Google.

Google lawyers use 'google' as a verb, which is lowercase. So recommendations should be use Google Search Engine, or for an generally accepted term its "google it".

3 smart arses here, 1 is right (me) the other 2 not so much.

        • And what does this have to do with graphics cards? Oh that's right, nothing…

        • What does this comment, looks like we all do it.

You fought to derail the discussion, whereas I was trying to steer it back on track… Hypocritical on a technicality, but not in intention. But anyway…

While perhaps not initially exactly nice, my post was very much on topic and relevant. It has to be said that bringing up your off topic post as an example of your own complaint is quite petty and ridiculous.

All I can say is hey, what's going on?

Back on topic, I've been watching 670 prices and damn this one is tempting… $100 more than I wanted to spend but I get the top of the line model, aside from the 690 of course.

        • My comment wasn't directed at you :-)
And I agree with your earlier reply; it's fairly easy to get benchmark and price comparisons on ones own, without asking other people to do all the running around for you.

I agree, I've been watching the recent graphics card sales like a hawk. So hard to resist. I'm usually an AMD man, but nVidia's lineup is getting too hard to ignore.

        • Oh yeah I realise that, was just stating my position and reminding fabman that he was the one who initially strayed off course. Wasn't for a second having a shot at you, your position was and still is quite clear to me :)

I did have in that reply that expecting the rep to know this was a little too much to expect but I edited it out before posting. I nearly dumped that first line after adding the price difference section, should have done so, would have avoided all this nonsense.

Back on topic, I nearly bit at the cheap 7950's recently, but I've had Radeon cards for a few years now and really do want to go back to Nvidia for the next one, if only the 670 would drop in price like the 7950's have, I'd be all over that.

Currently have a 6870 which still holds its own and really does do everything I need, but she does chug down every now and then which usually makes me quit to desktop and go price hunting yet again… sigh.

Have you ever used Google Search Engine, looking to find the solution to a frustrating problem and the only response you can find is "use google", it drives me crazy. Every time I see it now, whether deserved or not, it drives me crazy. It was petty though, you are right on that.

I do love that He-Man song.

Now lets see if I can add an on topic discussion point, erm, I have a 6950 and this is much better that… there you go.

        • Yeah I have, many a time, but at least I actually (usually) do try a search or ten myself before throwing my hands up in the air and asking on a forum. How many times have you seen someone ask something that could have been found via google in 1/10th of the keystrokes had they been bothered?

It was petty though, you are right on that.

Glad you agree that when you attempted to use ProspectiveDarkness' own argument against him it was petty. This seems ironic… oh well.

I do love that He-Man song.

For someone so caught up on semantics, I have to say this statement is rather surprising. It is a pretty darn cool clip though, great use of the cartoon footage for a totally unrelated song. I remember smiling through the entire clip when I first saw it, fond memories of watching the show many moons ago.

Okay, can we please just let this go now or if you feel you must get the last word in, by all means go for it, I won't reply again.

This is a bargain, of that there is no question, and one that I'm still really tempted to take but I'm also wondering how far away the 8xxx radeon and 7xx nvidia cards are. Is it a mistake to blow $500 on a card that in a few months could be superseded?

I want this card, but I don't need this card. This is a problem.

        • I have no intention of getting the last word in… Fu…

          Next time…

          http://lmgtfy.com/?q=MSI+GeForce+GTX680+vs+EVGA+FTW+680

asking google the same question nets more HELPFUL unbiased results, ie. benchmarks, than asking a bargain website.

        • If you can't find something on google, then you don't belong on the internet. Simple as that.

  • $499.0000 for a GTX680 ….

    • +3

man thats such a profound insight…..

Just for the benefit of any PC gaming novices:

This is a very fast top-end card.

As such, it is not the best "bang for buck" though, so make sure you know what you're buying. Use Anandtech Bench or Tom's hardware etc and compare benchmarks.

  • damn good deal.
But i'm waiting for a sub $500 gainward phantom gtx 680.
Mwave currently have them for $529 + delivery.

It's a reference card. Not OC'd, not the quietest or coolest. Though still a great price.

    • +5

I don't get why this got negged - he's quite right. While it's a great price for a gtx680 many non-reference GTX670's (Gigabyte OC, ASUS DCU2 etc) will come very close to the performance of this card and can be found around the same $500 price point or below.

The cooler on the reference 680's also isn't mind-blowing, but it's still a lot better than the reference cooler on the 670. It will do the job fine but may start to struggle if you decide to overclock the card too far.
