    Is that a 65W or a 75W travel adapter?

    • +14

      that is a fire adapter

      • 🤣💯👌

      • +1

Now waiting for the extinguisher bundle

      • +1

What are the circumstances that these things catch fire in?

I got my one maybe 2 weeks back, posted here a month ago, very very cheap.

        It even has fuses

        • +2

Depends on the model and circumstances. There's no way to know with these random brands.

As an example, this one appears to lack safety which may cause issues during a surge. There is a picture in the reviews with a hole that has melted through the casing.

          • @ihfree: Thanks for the reply

            I'm wrong.

I got the LENCENT one that was posted here. It SEEMS really well built and designed, however it also looks similar to these ones.

So far, wife not dead, hotel not burned down.

    • It outputs 75w total on multiple

      65 on singular I believe

Not showing the coupon for me, is it prime exclusive?

    • +1

Shows for me but I've got Prime.

      • -1

Yeah must be a prime only deal then. Time to sign up for another free trial

    • +1

Seems so, shows for me with prime, doesn't show in incognito mode.

    • +3

Amazon's latest trick to get you to buy a whole household worth of goods on prime.

      • +1

It is the seller who decides if a deal is Prime exclusive or not. Don’t blame Amazon.

  • Cheers, thanks OP. Going overseas soon so this is going to come in handy

  • +24

    WTF

When are all 240V Heymix products going to be banned from OzB?

    • +6

      That’s wild. Appropriately neg’d.

Add one more, bought one and it passes some sort of static electricity. when I touch my foldable phone metal hinge, it feels numbing and passes a electricity feeling which make my arm hair kinda spiking up. This feeling won't go away for a long while or immediately go away when I touch some other metal parts

        • I get a sort of an 'odd' feeling, almost like it has a texture when rubbing the exposed metal of the Apple devices, but I also got it from the Apple power adapter that came with this macbook, and from the apple power adapter that came with my old Retina MBP when used with my old Retina MBP.

          • @quick-dry: That’s because the power adapter doesn’t have a grounding pin (unless you add the extension cable).

            • @DryScissors: yeah, definately a missing ground pin issue hence don't buy heymix. Funny this is one of the several brand have such issue, while as other brand still only has two pin plug yet no such issue

              • @SeiraS: the grounding issue makes sense, but then heymix cop all of this flack but I've had the same issue on the officlal Apple, and other brands - and multiple Apple end devices, in multiple locations/countries. So I'm not sure about singling out just this mob, when I've encountered it across premium brands that are the "spend the money, you know it'll be safe" options suggested.

          • @quick-dry: Ive had this heaps but none of my friends could ever feel the sensation I was describing… Thought I was losing it but glad I'm not the only one 😅

            • @TheFlyingCoder: funny timing of this thread - yesterday a 'friend' noticed this when running her hand across the back of my neck to entice me away from the laptop. Turned into a testing session - unplug usb-c charging, can you feel it now, no, plug in, yes… connect ipad, yes, daisy chain ipad from macbook, yes, and so on.

it happens with Apple chargers too though, if you have an ipad and macbook, plug them both in and hold the ipad metal then brush your arm into the macbook metal and instead of the weird feeling it'll be a pinprick sharp sensation.

    • The adage, "if it looks too good to be true…" comes to mind

    • -1

But the reviews! It must be good. /s

    • +1

Thank you for linking this. It should be linked in every heymix deal

    • Agreed. Highly dangerous products. They probably print the certification logos on there without any kind of licence. Or they got one licence for one simple plug adapter and then pretended it applies to all their dodgy products.

  • -3

What a stupendous deal. Give 'em coming please. 👏

    • Yes, especially fire extinguisher deals

  • Cannot find details of max voltage / power per individual USB port…!

Isn't it illegal to use fraudulent SAA certification on their products? How are they able to import uncertified products here? Perhaps report seller to Amazon?

  • +4

Note that their "AUS" plug is actually a China plug. Australian plugs have insulated pins. If you buy a inbound travel adapter it will have insulated pins. IIRC, china plugs are also narrower and may be loose in Australian sockets.

This misrepresentation of the product is not great and potentially dangerous. This may be a consideration if you have children or think you may drop a something conductive between the plug and socket. The insulation on the pins was introduced for a reason. Personally, I wouldn't want this style of plug anywhere around my house.

    • Precisely! I wish we would stop with these shonky mains voltage import deals. Again, it looks like you could insert an aussie plug's ground pin into the active conductor's socket, which could make the appliance's chassis go live. :-/

    • +4

And it has no earth pin despite accepting earthed (class 1) appliances. This thing is a death trap waiting to happen

  • +2

    Don’t play with fire.

  • -1

still no clue if its a buy or not

one hand i get a pretty cool charger for cheap, on the other hand my house burns down

    might still buy it

  • I bought this and promptly returned it. It kept resetting when charging my phone. Phone kept beeping constantly because the charge would start then stop then start then stop. Luckily Amazon returns are quick and easy.

    • Did you buy this 75W model or the 65W one?

      • I have the 75W, I've been using it for a month of travel (plugged in the whole month) it has been fine. Luck of the draw I guess.

(that said, every USB-C / PD GAN charger I have does a 'reset' (stop and restart charging) whenever a new item is connected/disconnected on a port - whether they're from Heymix, Zyron, Anker, etc - I assume thats something from using a shared chip and fancy charging protocols, unlike the dumb old 2.4A @ 5V. But it's not a constant resetting like gviddy had.

  • +3

I know that Heymix has received a lot of negative comments. However I have to say some of their chargers' design is pretty good especially for the travel purpose. Some of their gan chargers all come with interchangeable charger pin which is very convenience for users.

    • They're clones of legitimate products.

      • In Australia, the choice is very limited on Amazon Au. Any other good choices?

  • +3

I'm glad that we're all aware of the fire issues with Heymix, but what about every other charger from AliExpress and the like?

I would have assumed they're all basically from the same or similar factories, unless I'm mistaken (other than the actual name brand ones like Anker that have some level of QC / engineering).

Almost seems like the whole Heymix thing is a bit of a meme at this point rather than any serious attempt to weed out poor quality or hazardous chargers.

    • brands such as ugreen or baseus are decent, but in general aliexpress stuff is very questionable. I'd argue that you will be better off with kogan branded stuff

  • cancelled after reading all comments

  • RIP heymix deals on ozb. I don't think theres any return for reputation of heymix in ozb. It's over

    • They'll be fine. There's nothing new in this thread - the same old mix of jokes, fanbois, feedback and results of users tearing them down.

Despite all this, they seem to have a bit of a cult following. Every time there's a deal, there's some Ozbargainer with a comment "I bought 10 and they all work OK"

      • In reality, options are very limited when choosing the chargers which can charger both laptop and mobile. What are other choices?

        • I have various chargers that can handle that task without issue. As examples - Zendure, Xiaomi, Belkin 65w, Mophie 67w, Apple 140w, Satechi 165w.

          • @ihfree: I am trying to combine all to one. Any good recommendations? What's your view about Heymix products considering their price is good?

            • +1

@HappyBargainer: I wouldn't buy Heymix personally. In my opinion, there is enough feedback from Ozbargain users, issues in reviews, and teardowns by users backed by reviews to suggest the brand is problematic.

I would be sticking with reputable brands, though, obviously, the price tag is higher.

              • @ihfree: Anker don't sell many products on Amazon Au. All chargers are relatively low power. Any recommendations for over 100w charger? Thanks

        • Gently wades into this firestorm (err bad pun) - we've had good experiences with a few Zyron chargers/adapters. Had a 65W dual port USB-C / USB-A for a couple of years, does laptop and phone.

          • +1

@willyroo: I wouldn't choose Zyron personally but they are a step up.

They are also selling rebranded chargers but they claim to vet them better and they have an Australian presence.

I don't know too much about them but would be worth reading previous deals.

            • @ihfree: I think that Heymix and Zyron are all similar and some users complained other things on this brand as well.

  • Is there any difference between this and that Lencent one everyone was buying off Aliexpress besides the branding?

  • The black version (with black USB-C cable) is also available for the same price, for anyone game…

  • Same trolls that mount TV brackets to gyprock and saying it's the brackets fault when it falls off the wall. Bought 10.

  • Ty to all the fire comments that you can get the advantage of Heymix products at half price very often.

Imagine all the fire comments are still true today while Amazon takes no action. It's very unlikely. Remember you might see Heymix products more than any other products on Amazon.

  • Any alternative recommendations from Anyone? 👀 I need one in the next couple weeks that preferably won't give me nightmares about a fire

  • 🔥

  • I bought and been using this cos it comes with cable.

The aussie plug is much looser than Lencent brand, the latter having a satisfying tightness.

Feel a bit cheated buying it for 60, but it was free/refunded to me by amazon csa as a goodwill agreement
