Given the i7 7700 isn't on the list of supported processors for Windows 11, isn't it misleading to advertise and have Windows 11 preinstalled? What kind of issues are we going to see down the line, even if workarounds were used to get the install to work. Its fine for Joe Blow to disable the TPM check but shouldn't really be done by a business.

If you're worried about security, you shouldn't be buying second hand PCs of eBay. On top of that, TPM 2.0 was cracked back in March this year, at the user application level.

Pretty sure this has TPM 2.0. It's not gonna cause any meaningful issues for the average user.

I think people are getting overly worked up about Win 11 and compatibility. This kind of operating system cycle has occurred for generations of Windows the only difference now is that they tried to draw a hard line with specific CPU types. Windows 11 will work fine on this device, it will receive updates normally and perform normally. No need for people in every computer post to get their panties in a twist every time Windows 11 is mentioned.

    • I've tried using windows 11 on an unsupported CPU. It works just fine and gets security updates, but does not seem to get major version updates. Not automatically anyways. You can still upgrade using a USB though.

  • How does i5 8th gen differ from i7 7th gen?

    • +1

most obvious one would be official support for windows 11

    • well for one, in a notebook/laptop/all-in-one any 8th gen will thermal throttle because they were terrible notebook/laptop chips - all all-in-ones use a mobile/laptop CPU - its just a notebook/laptop stuck to the back of a monitor

  • Coming up as $414 with RFRB20. Am I missing something?

    • I think they may have Jacked the price

    • I think the price has been jacked up to $531 now (before any applied discounts).
