CAT6 - 1000Mbit/s - UTP - Round Cable - RJ45 - Supports PoE-Devices

Not sure if this is the usual price for this, but compared to other once I believe this is a good price for a 15M cable, I was looking for a longer one to use for when I have to trouble shoot my home network and this one seems perfect for that.

Ethernet cable (LAN cable, twisted pair) for data transfer speeds of up to 1,000Mbit/s (1000Base-T). For PCs/notebooks, gaming consoles (PS5/Xbox), switches/hubs, modems/routers & network data points

  • it's a damn good price indeed ! thanks, cat6 especially

  • thanks, got one

  • Also grabbed one, longer cables come in handy now and then. Cheers.

  • Wow! Don't need a long cable. It's cheaper to buy this and a crimping tool to make short cables of any length.

    • Any recommendations for a crimping kit?

      • Nothing in particular. If you are going for one, maybe consider getting a tester as well, easier to verify than plugging into devices.

I bought the below toolkit from Amazon to install couple of RJ45 outlets and run some cabling throughout the house/roof. For the price they are quite good and saved me $600 which some electrician quoted to install 2 data points.

        https://www.amazon.com.au/MTHKLO-Crimping-Ethernet-Professio…

        • indeed electrician cost a fortune but I think you're not allowed to do that unless the cable go along the wall (no through it).

    • +2

Isn't cutting and crimping a cable this size an absolute nightmare? Not to mention crimping tools can be pretty hit or miss depending on the wire gauge

      • Yes for sure

    • +1

      Terrible idea

    • +2

Even pro's don't (profanity) around with cutting their own patch leads. I would take their lead on this

  • +1

Is there a risk of signal loss over this distance?

    • +1

      No

    • +1

      Nope.

100 metres, or ~55 if expecting 10gbit, or something like that

    • No for sure

    • +1

In 10/100/1000BASE-T applications, the maximum cable distance of a Cat 6 cable is 100 metres. However, Category 6 cable segment distance drops to a maximum run length of 55 metres when used for 10GBASE-T.

    • +1

      None. Especially with cat6' twists.

    • If this is a genuine Cat6, why they advertise as 1Gbs and not 10Gbs?

      • I’m also curious

      • +1

        Cat 6 = 1000 Mbps / 1 Gbps, Cat 6a = 10000 Mbps / 10 Gbps

        • +1

No! Wikipedia: ”.. Category 6 cable has a reduced maximum length of 55 metres (180 ft) when used for 10GBASE-T, Category 6A cable is characterized to 500 MHz and has improved alien crosstalk characteristics, allowing 10GBASE-T to be run for the same 100 metre (330 ft) maximum distance…”; and, 15 < 55.

I usually make for myself. However, this is really cheap and no hassle. If you go to bunnings price for 1m is more than this. Bought two. Thanks op.

  • Did I need one? No. Did I get one? Yes. Thanks!

    • +1

Need? What is this need? This is ozbargain.

      • It’s even 2 cents cheaper now

        • Shut up and take my money.

      • Buy first, think later?

        • FOMO

    • Yeah I know FOMO is stronger than buyer's regret.

  • +1

    OOS :(

  • Hmm. I ordered 2 right as it went out of stock so it now says will email when available.. Oh well will see what happens

    • email when available

      Haha! They never do.

  • Missed this but got the 5M one for $7 something

  • It's weird that I can't find anywhere on the product description that it says that it is CAT6 or that it is made with copper.

Actual review: ”The cable was packed so securely in it that it survived shipping like a rollercoaster ride. Perhaps I should suggest it as a new extreme sports device: “LAN cable rodeo” - fun and high-speed for the whole family!
Well, the cable itself is so long that I could almost use it as a spare leash for my dog. But I've decided to use it for its actual purpose — to establish a stable Internet connection. And boy, did it!
As soon as I connected the cable, I had the feeling that my bits and bytes were speeding through the lines faster than Usain Bolt did at the Olympics. Surfing the Internet felt like jumping through hyperspace. My downloads were so fast that I thought I'd ordered a time machine!
But that wasn't all. This magic cable has taken my online games to a whole new level. I used to get shot down by other players in multiplayer games before I knew what was happening. But now, thanks to my 15-meter super cable, I'm the one dominating the playing field! My opponents see me coming and can only watch in amazement as I roam through their ranks at the speed of light.
The best part is that the cable is so flexible. I can easily put it around corners, pull it over obstacles, and even use it as an improvised lasso to pull my brother out of his room when he steals my fast Internet again!
Overall, I can only highly recommend this LAN cable. It is not just a cable, but a ticket to a new dimension of Internet connection. With this cable, I feel like a digital superhero ready to conquer the online world. So grab that cable, head into your superhero rift, and get ready to dominate the Internet!”

        • That review deserves its own CATegory.

        • A review from a serial killer

    • It probably isn't solid copper
