  • Thanks OP! got one

  • Can you port from Coles mobile?

    • +2

You can port from any provider. So yep.

  • does catch connect require credit card to verify like coles mobile?

    • Every provider requires a basic ID check, it's the law. You can use driver's licence or passport as well

      • If I remember correctly, Lebara doesn't. You use either basic ID like all the other telcos, or you use a Credit Card for verification.

      • +3

Im ok with ID check, but i m not ok with credit card ID check

  • Can I recharge an existing catch account with this?

    • Recharge is $120.

      • In the month before recharging they always send me a 25% discount so it's $90.

        • I didnt get one… recharged last friday…

          • +3

@vinnycol: i find if i disable direct debit before renewal i get the 25% discount. If DD is on it wont show the discount.

            • @bigpun: Exactly this. Turn off the auto renew option and then wait.

They will send a discounted renewal email/sms for effectively $90/yr.

Afterwards turn on the auto renew option again.

              Just did this for August.

              • @PoorFromOzBargains: What's the point of turning on the auto renew again? Just leave it off and they will offer discount again next year to make you stay.

                • @PrinceOfWhales: I had it turned off, so they sent me a deal to turn it back on so that it would auto renew, so I did that and it renewed at $90/yr, then I turned it off again after it renewed.

I forgot to mention that last step in my previous comment. I said I turned it on, when it was already just turned back on to renew. Obvs I meant to turn it off.

                  Rinse and repeat each year.

        • My wife got a 25% off renewal email earlier this year and I didn't. I changed my preference for email to accept marketing material and received 25% off renewal. They haven't been spamming me, so no issues with doing this.

      • +1

i just received email which i m 1 month to go to my next recharge. it is $90 for a year again.

i am with them for many years, whenever they dont send i will port out but luckily, i am still getting 25% off recharge

    Which network?

    • +1

      Optus.

      • -1

        Never optus again..

        • Never Telstra again..

  • +2

How long do you have to activate it?

    • Activate SIM within 30 days of purchase, or by the date advertised in a promotion, whichever is earlier, to receive advertised inclusions.

Doesn't actually say about activation, only about bonus inclusions

  • +1

I thought it was a great deal 1 week ago, and here I am still waiting for Catch Connect to sort out their tech issues to fix my service, after porting over 1 week ago….

    • +6

      There’s always a catch

    • where were you porting from? I had the same issue a few years ago porting from Optus to Amaysim as it is on the same network. Seems like there is more probability that you have an issue doing on their same network.

      • ported from Circles Life so suspect you are correct here. How long did it take to fix your issue? This is screwing me over as I cannot perform tasks that require MFA where I receive codes via sms.

        • +1

about 10 days. At that time I was going to a month to month plan, so they ended up putting 2 month's worth of credit on the account to make up for not having the service for that time. Although it was a bit of a pain, their customer service is great.

    • Agree. of the companies catch seemed the slowest

      • I've got 3 services from Optus on Catch and they ported almost instantly.

I'm the primary account holder, no middle name, no other names, same address since forever and went from postpaid to Catch/prepaid.

I'd bring 1 more service but no apple watch cellular 😡

    • I've been having the same issue, but I don't think it's a porting issue as I ported from telstra. I received an email saying that my service has been successfully activated, but I can only make SOS calls. And they're not providing an eta on a fix. Very frustrating.

    • +1

in the exact same boat, customer service cant give an ETA for a fix, so now im stuck without my phone number for god knows how long. Cant login to anything that requires MFA, and catchconnect wont allow me to port my number out. This is the worst customer experience ive ever experienced.

  • Great timing for my wife's phone.

  • +2

Oops.. Recently bought a Coles mobile $150 plan for $119.

    • That has more data (120gb) & international calls though so not really comparable.

    • Coles mobile give free calls to 15 countries.

  • +2

Works out to $8 per month for 5gb, which is an excellent price for low data users

    • -1

      It's actually $7.42 per month.

  • +3

Might be the cheapest, but the most expensive customer service and horrid slowdowns. Stuck on this POS for another 8 months.

    • good to know. I will avoid them

  • I am with Amaysim atm and have noticed they have dropped a lot of their 12 month plans (on their website) and the 2 remaining ones are min $170. I was happy with the 60gb 12 month plan as I barely use data. I am home most of the time and use wifi there. I know they have Black Friday deals (and chat can usually get them to match for customers already with them), and sometimes they have random deals come up. My husband's 12 plan finishes next month and mine in Dec. I'd rather not pay full price if possible. Any other good mobile phone plans out there with reliable service, good customer service (have to commend Amaysim for their customer service) and costs?

    • I prefer amaysim also, but have regularly switched between catch and amaysim.

This obv. isn't as good as the black friday amaysim $60 for 60GB yearly, but this isn't bad if you need one now.

      and mine in Dec

mine is up in Dec. also - and hope to get another @ black friday.

      • yes, auto renew is already off, will see what happens, although there is a Woolworths deal $99 for the 60gb amaysim plan starting this week. As mentioned they don't have this unlimited plan on their website anymore, not sure if you can request it through chat? They only have much larger GB plans showing on the website now for unlimited deals, not just talk and text

  • I'm going away overseas for a few years (probably come back here every now and then for 2 weeks). Which should I go for? I still want to keep my current mobile number (with Telstra prepaid at the moment), but don't need the big data or credits. I do need to be able to fill it with data though when I'm back here for those 2 weeks period

    • +1

Boost mobile. I was able to use my number to call back home and everyone else could call me as well when I had a data esim linked.

    • If you just want to park the number go for ALDI 365 days prepaid. Only need $20 per year to keep it going

  • FYI, as i write this, the Catch Connect SIM activation is not working since last week (per their support team). I am asked to get a Coles 20 $ sim (30 days) until they get it fixed. No ETA given. The 20 $ will be refunded.

    • And it will only be refunded by cheque :)

  • That's strange, activated a new service on friday. Might be state related.?

  • eSim?

  • anyone know if i can buy this now and activate 77 days later after my boost finished?

    • yes. chat told me as long as you activate within a year. it is fine
