Just how/why is this a bargain? What is the usual/normal selling price?

    Thanks.

    • -6

      It's normally $29.99

It'd rather buy a reliable one for $30

You mean $37 posted jv. You would have pulled up a vendor for neglecting postage costs, but you do the same? And to say that's the "normal" price for this type is also misleading.

        • -2

How much is Aldi postage then ?

At least the one in the previous deal was proven to be accurate and recommended for clinical use.

Is this Aldi one recommended for clinical use ?? I doubt it…

So why is it a bargain?

        • +4

In the outside world, beyond the troll caves, there are physical stores where you can purchase items on the spot, without postage! There are 4 Aldis within 10 minutes of me, and most people.

        • -4

there are physical stores where you can purchase items on the spot, without postage

and many online stores (like the previous deal) allow free pickup… the postage is optional

          http://yousavechemist.com.au/pages/stores

          so what's your point?

        • +3

Have you calculated cost of making a time machine?

yousavechemist is only available in NSW and their deal has already expired. Oh boy! I just hope you would get some sleep.

      • How is it different from any of the watches that do pressure reading?

      • How can anyone buy Blood Pressure Monitor at that price ($30) from the deal that was expired for more than 2 days? Moreover, yousavechemist only has its store in NSW so I doubt if there is a person who stupid enough to drive all the way down from VIC to avoid postage fee. Oh wait! May be there is a guy here!

Also, I'm surprised that a guy who posted a deal on ALDI Heart Rate Monitor at $19.99, which is always normal price at Aldi whenever it is available, still dare to say this is not a bargain. Funny logic!!

        • Sorry trams, I meant to press + but my fat iPhone fingers accidentally hit - whoops :)

        • Click on votes under their post and you can remove your neg.

        • Oh thanks! It says it's too late now but I will know for the future.

      • It'd rather buy a reliable one for $30

it's hard to tell what the reliability is just from an advertisement

but yes, in general, the arm ones are supposed to give more accurate readings

    • Just how/why is this a bargain? What is the usual/normal selling price?

      a special buy?

a lot of the stuff that is advertised on this site is at it's normal price, especially from deal sites.

all the stuff from overseas is at it's normal selling price, eg dvds from amazon which are steadily declining in price, crucial ssds from amazon which are steadily declining in price, mobiles & electronics from kogan/shoppingsquare/overseas which are steadily declining in price.

      nothing different here.

I'll answer that question for you OP, as I've been looking at these for a while.

Regular monitors from local stores are a lot more expensive(closer to $100), though you can get these no-brand wrist types for similar prices from online Asian stores (deal extreme etc.) but I think it's worth a post here as it's both one of the cheaper kind you can't get locally (ie cheap, and no 3-4 week wait from deal extreme) plus you get the decent local aldi warranty, so it is a very good deal.

    • -1

you get the decent local aldi warranty,

      the warranty doesn't make it a bargain…

what is the accuracy of this device ? if it is unknown, then it is useless and a waste of money…

      • So how are you going to prove it not being accurate. Recent experience in a Hospital where the electronic device was showing false reading, nurse got the manual pressure device and then stayed with it. So may be the hospitals also need to take some advice from here about the realiability of their devices?

        • +1

So how are you going to prove it not being accurate

The onus of proof is on the seller… Aldi have not provided any information as to the quality of the product… They should not be allowed to sell this stuff without certifying the quality…

Don't buy it if you're worried, no one's forcing you to. Personally, I buy all my important medical equipment at supermarkets. Bought the defibrillator from Coles, operating table at WW and MRI/CT Scanners from Aldi last time they had them on sale. Did source the scalpel blades from Hendrick's Surgical Instruments though.

Mop and bucket to aisle 5!

          I'm not, that's why i voted no deal…

Why nobody find the alid error on title?

    • +2

How does this alid brand compare to the ones at aldi?

      • +3

The "alid" one is from "Talibrand" and detonates on first usage.

    • it's really simple-Alid is Aldi's dyslexic brother who opened up his own supermarket chain!

  • nah, get an upper arm one

I'm with jv (this happens, sometimes).

There was serious discussion in the last post for a similar product (an Andon brand) about accuracy, and someone eventually found this listing indicating the Andon in question was probably OK.

The one here, a 'Visage', doesn't appear on that list, and the list is pretty long.

Warranty isn't worth donkey bricks if it's not accurate, and there is no evidence here that it is (and Aldi should have provided more information).

EDIT: This is for a wrist, while the Andon was upper arm. I'd say the upper arm ones are more reliable given they're closer to the pump…

The difference in pressure between your radial artery and the brachial artery is around a mere 10mmhg.
      Not worth getting stressed over.
Personally i would go behind a company who has invested several years of work and technology behind blood pressure monitoring, companies such as omron or welch alleyn.
There is no value or bargain in regards to medical health care, just buy reliable and reputable.

  • Speaking of Aldi, I was late off the clued-up train.. I went in today to try snag one of their 16MG $69 cameras. They sold last one yesterday. Manager rang two other local (regional) stores.. they were also out. I really wants one!

If you happen into your local Aldi, and they have one, can you please get in touch with me? I'd like to organise for you to buy it and send to me.

I said to Manager that I'm ummm-ing and ahhhh-ing now whether or not to just buy something cheap off of eBay.. he said they'll most likely get them in again before Christmas. I'll try and be patient a coupla months, but I'd rather not - I need a decent cheap camera now.

So, yeah, if your Aldi has one then please check in with me. I'd like you to buy it for me and send (with full reimbursement from me, of course). Thanks! :)

    • I'll keep my eye out.

  • I've bought this one last year for my mom and it still works great! Good price so far, love ALDI :)

  • Lol, just bought one and according to the BP reading I am nearly dead. SYS: 14.6, DIA: 9.5

    • That's what i call … cool, calm & collected.

Or maybe check Aldi for reading glasses to not see the spurious decimal point. :)
