  • anyone know how long this price is on for? It just says "Last Chance" in the ad. My son is moving on Friday and unsure if he can get something like this for the balcony of the apartment he is moving to.

    • Theres a new model Q series coming out - so looks like it will be on run out

      • ok, thanks

      • -7

People dispose these after a few uses to nature stripes for hardware collections.

        • Righto then.

        • Had mine for about 5 years so far. Use it multiple times per week.

          …maybe I am just lucky.

  • +2

If you have a Student Beans account, you can get another $20 off

    • what is Student Beans account ? is it a secondary school email ?

  • Better deal. Thanks for sharing op!

  • What's the key differences between the Q1000 and the Q3100? From what I can tell it's a pretty negligible upgrade for a $400 increase in price - would you just be better off grabbing the Q1000 for the price?

    • +3

Baby Q: 1,200 cm2 grill area, one burner with 9 MJ output (suitable for 2-4 people)
Family Q: 2,400 cm2 grill area, 22.9 MJ burner output (suitable for 6+ people)

Double the size - plus the Q3100 comes with the stand etc

      • Also if you get the Q1000 you'll want/need a trolley for it. They run about $150.

With either, i'd also suggest buying a cover.

    • +5

Size. If you're only cooking for 3-4 people or less at a time, Q1000 should do. If you like to cook for friends/family in addition, Q3100. I cook mostly for two on my Q1000 and about a quarter of the time I still find myself thinking a larger weber would be useful…

      • I have all 3 and the 2000 gets the most use by a country mile. The 2000 is good for up to 6 people imho.

    • +3

nah its a big upgrade, ive got the Q1000, which is okay i guess and gets the job done, but my mate has the Q3100 which is a beast, much bigger cooking area, 2 burners instead of 1 and it gets way hotter, i am thinking of upgrading, i probably will procrastinate too long and miss out, but if i didnt have the BabyQ already and was choosing between the 2, i would pick the FamilyQ all day

      • +2

Haha this is exactly what I do, normally I find it too difficult to make a decision so I just end up with nothing. Thanks for your insight.

    • They are totally and utter different- how could you confuse the two?

Each model has a specs list on the Weber website.

  • +4

The one with the temperature gauge and the higher lid is much better.

    • For home use yes, as can do a roast chicken. For picnics I prefer the smaller one, as it heats up quicker and takes up less space in my small car.

      • -2

        So you bought two?

        • +2

Have 5 in the family, personally only have this model and the Family. I purchased mine during the Masters closedown, when they were already on sale, then stacked with multiple discount offers and bonus, like free gas cylinder + fill.
But got the rest of the family onto them, so have personal experience with all models, even the charcoal ones at the various gatherings.
All their gas ones, tend to perform poorly in the wind compared to the competition.
Even the Electric Webber is great.

    • +1

I hate to say, but JV is correct. The Q3200 Family Q is better than the Q3100 due to the taller lid.

But above this, if you're looking for a family BBQ that is versatile, I wouldn't even get a Q series, and pay for the Spirit or Genesis.

    • thanks .any cheap deals pls?thanks

    • thanks .any cheap deals pls?

  • Interested in getting one of these - how do you normally store the gas cylinders safely? I don't really have an outdoor patio/deck undercover - is it safe to store gas cylinders in a shed?

    • +1

ngl I've left mine attached to the bbq outdoors under the eaves of my roof for the past 3 years and haven't had an issue. So storing in a shed would probably be an even better safety option

    • Fair question, I might need to look into this, I have always stored the small cylinder in the garage with the BabyQ but may not be the safest option.

    • +1

I have a Q1000 and the stand/trolley (about $150). The gas bottle sits on that.

Then a cover goes over the whole lot (another $40 or so for the Weber one), which protects it all from the elements.

Been fine outdoors for several years now. And remember that once your gas bottle is empty you just go and swap it for a brand new looking one at the servo anyway (Swap n Go), so you're not stuck with a really old gas bottle for many years.

Having said that, I use mine heaps, so need to swap bottles at least once a year.

  • Oh dear.. Hassles galore. My order from yesterday is still waiting to be collected. Good Guys can't refund the difference from yesterday's purchase, so have cancelled and re-bought. Got lectured by them about the refund of difference is only available for their Concierge members - Would like to join/purchase that membership?

Opted to cancel. Other hassle was that I think I got the last item from my local store, so the next available was 20km away. Luckily the cancel released the item at the store and was able to re-buy online.

People were nice to deal with, but got passed around so many times.

I have this, main complaint is it's ordinary in the wind, but 99% of the time it is fine. I tend to BBQ near the beach. I logged a support call and they replaced the burner element, but for a portable BBQ would expect it to function better outdoors. If you are using at home, the one with the larger lid and temp is better, as that allows you to roast an entire roast chicken, which I highly recommend.
If you need a larger one, skip the middle and go for the family with the additional burner.
Although with planning, you can cook quite a lot on the BabyQ. The middle one is too large for a single burner, grills unevenly.
Remember these are designed to cook with the lid closed.
Sits happily on the standard park bench, stand is convenient but overpriced. Sits nice on a blow mould table, but can move around.

    • was the replacement element any better?

      • Better yes, still struggles in the wind, but at least it doesn't keep going out.

        • +1

honestly this is the problem i had with mine and i just ended up selling it on fb market place

    • Depending on what you are cooking most often, maybe the Traveller is better for you?

This model is being phased out, with some details recently appearing about the incoming model HERE.

    • Better searing performance
    • Increased cooking area
    • A new low and slow mode
    • Easier to clean
    • An instant start button
    • An ambient temperature probe with Bluetooth compatibility
    • As a noob BBQer, those new features do sound appealing but they also sound more expensive (ie. higher RRP) than the old one.

      • The only one that sticks out to me is potentially the better searing performance. Assuming it's still around $950 rrp, is it worth the $300 over the existing model on sale? Doubt it.

The increased cooking area might be 2% bigger, the low and slow mode sounds gimmicky considering the family model has the ability to put the small burner on anyway (might be good for the other versions though). Instant start? It's already a push of a button. Ambient temp is nice to know, but it's not a big deal (i own the 3200 with the temp gauge built in).

with some details recently appearing about the incoming model

Will be announced at the upcoming Global Weber Event.

      Hopefully they do a live stream… Can't wait…….

    • thanks for that. might be some better discounts then.

    • sounds like some great features…
trying to emulate an oven at 180 degrees is almost impossible with current model

Bought the Q3100 thanks op good deal.

    • +1

Yeah i did the same :)

  • Thanks OP. Great timing as we are about to go on a camping trip, so grabbed a Baby Q.

    • +1

In true Ozbargain style, I used my Westpac Rewards points for 2x$100 vouchers and also got 2.5% Cashrewards too. 🤘

  • Wish they did deep discounts on the traveler, played with babyq and traveler and liked the traveler more for portability.
Traveler for 400-450 odd would be no brainer.

  • +1

Any ideas on where to get a reasonably priced cart/stand for the Weber Baby Q?

  • Any info on the new BBQs coming out

  • i had one of these, took forever to heat up .. it only seems to work properly if the lid is closed

    • Yes, especially if there is any wind.

    • i believe these are designed to cook with lid closed

      • you see the ads, and they're always open lol

  • Q2000 for $394 on goodguys also, would the Q2000 be better for cooking for 4-6 people if you don't need the portability? Thanks

    • I also have this one, but mine is still a single element, I find it cooks uneven when compared with the Baby Q or Family as the Family has the extra element. But it's still a very good BBQ.

    Cheers OP
Got one Delivery with $20 Student beans (thanks to generous ozbargainer), $200 AGL TGG credit.
Bought with $5 HDMI cable to top up to $51 (after AGL credit), paid with citi spot now for $20 TGG gift card offer.

  • For occasional BBQ’s are the gas ones from
bunnings bad? They are so much cheaper!

As examples : They looks more like a standard BBQ too

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/matador-conquest-4-burner-gas-bb…

They wont last as long (Webers are virtually indestructible) or have the follow up service (Weber has great customer service) and are a lot bigger in size overall. But if you arent fussy then those BBQs will do the job. Certainly sausages are fine on almost any BBQ, steaks are also fairly forgiving. If thats all you want to cook on the BBQ, then dont get too worried about it. Keep in mind that you almost certainly will have to replace it a lot earlier than a Weber (and stainless steel gets grubby very very easily), but by then your BBQ-ing habits may have changed anyway and you will want something different (or nothing because you never BBQ)

In other words - Webers are not more expensive just because of the brand name. They are made better and do a better job on the whole. But just because a $350 pair of headphones is better than a $150 pair doesnt mean the $150 pair is bad and it may well do everything you need.

      • thank you for your detailed response- in my case, I would be using the BBQ less than a dozen times a year, just need something to entertain in my backyard

Not looking for anything "portable" - your comment definitely helps, I am more inclined towards one of the Bunnings ones for around $500 with 4-6 burners.

        Cheers!

  • +1

Thanks picked on up today already have the larger model this Bubba one will be ideal for camping!

  • I have the q2000. I find it's not too big, not too small. I can leave it on my patio or throw it in the car to take to the beach. Yes, I cook with the lid down as recommended and I use a very small blow table that also packs away for transport. I find it can cook for 6.

  • Are these made from titanium?

    • +1

      For an extra $3000, sure.

      • +1

Haha yeah I’m guessing titanium coloured.

        • +1

Frankly, they are not even titanium coloured, they're beige.

Titanium is the same colour as stainless steel. But it sound better than beige.

          • @rumblytangara: Ok must be named that for the impression of light weight, strength and durability.

    • They look the same

        • -1

Just marketing so people can upgrade perfectly fine webers.

More landfil i guess. Or if your keen, i predict there will be stacks of completely fine webers on next council cleanups. All they need is degreasing, a good pressure clean and change plates and possibly burning element.

          • @easternculture: Same goes for new model cars every year I guess - Don't think Webers have had an update for a while and potentially they decided for a refresh with new safety standards now enforced… regardless i'm happy with the discounted old version that I just picked up

            • @urbancartel: You dont see cars in council pickups though lol

My Q1000 should br delivered on Monday

  • Nice suprise. They sent me a Q2000

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/46868/106658/20230919_…

Now how do i claim warranty if i need to lol

    • HAHA! Wow that's awesome - congrats :)

      • I only got lucky cause they are trying to clear old gen i reckon.

Would have been better if they sent me the family Q lol

  • Anyone else get upgraded to q2000

  • Has everyone received theirs? Bought the Q1000 online delivery and status is still stuck on 'Awaiting Picking'.
