  • Good deal - Is this good for kayaking?

    • Designed for rock fishing so not too sure, would say not. I use an inflatable life jacket when kayaking. Highly recommend inflatable, but not auto inflation

        • Those things are horrible to wear for more than a few minutes. I bought a few to store on the boat and meet compliance . They are bulky and uncomfortable.

@Tg147: Im surprised inflatables haven't been banned for kayak fishing to be honest.

The issue is, you're a decent chance to end up in the drink, and if the inflating fails and you're dressed for kayak fishing you're going to be in for a hard time.

            • @itshammer: I'd hope my $6000 yak doesn't land me in the water….

            • @itshammer: They also have a hose to blow into if the gas doesn't go off, but there's a viewing window to make sure the gas bottle is OK anyway which you should be checking pretty often. As someone who's been in the open ocean without a vest I'd take anything haha.

        • I have these and find them more comfortable than expensive vest style ones. They stay out of the way for me when paddling. Quite happy with them.

      • It's designed to meet Australian Standard AS4758 and also approved to use when rock fishing.

It isn't specifically designed for rock fishing, it's designed to the standard and can be used where the standard provides approval.

Kayaking is one of those uses.
