be sure to screen shot your cancellation because the fine folks at Tidal continued to take their monthly payment after I cancelled, and then said that they had no record of me cancelling, and I couldn't get any recourse. From my experience not to be trusted although this was some years back now, and perhaps their business practices have improved.

    • +1

and disposable cards are much more common now.

      • +1

        Agree, Revolut this sh!t

        • doesn't seem to accept any prepaid cards - Vanilla VISA/MC. The payment page says Credit card so will definitely a smart move on their part!

        • +2

Good idea, but my Revolut virtual single use disposable card was not accepted.

          • @hotsnakes: i mention this further down the page but my point and explanation was clunky and vague - Revolut still works for me (!) but you now have to use a multi-use card, as it actually makes complete sense that single-use cards are rejected for ongoing subscriptions

    • Happened to me recently as well.
Won't make the same mistake again.

  • +11

My Argentina plan is still active. Will see next month..

    • I don't think they'd kick out a large base simply because of a payment method. Mine is also working and they charged me 3.12$ recently, which is over 570$ ARS, don't know what happened, like 790$

      • +1

This months payment was around $1

        • me too. let's see what happens next month.

        • Mine still active, not sure what they’re charging me. I did get the email calling it out, but surely they won’t boot everyone..?

    • Same, but I did get an email last month basically calling us out for using geographic workarounds for cheap plans. Will be interesting to see how much longer we have.

      • +1

their service is nowhere close to what they asked here in Australia…. if they kick me out then goodbye Tidal

        • +2

Tidal has the worst interface, the worst playlists, unless you know what you want you would probably end up listening to weird stuff. The best playlist algo is on Spotify. It pretty much reads your mind lol

    • +1

Yep me too, not gonna worry about it until they stop letting me stream tunes!

    • When did they charge you?

I’m still active as well, but was charged in the last few days of August. The email said they’d block international cards starting in September.

      • They charged on 5/9

        • Interestingggggg

Mind if I ask what card?

        • Mine renews on 26/9, will see if it goes through..

        • +1

Mine was cancelled today "due to non-payment" :(

  • +2

yep I got 3 months free when I got my tesla I actualy love this streaming service I use it more than I use apple music and spotify.

    • What genre do you listen to? I remember when it came to Australia, it heavily favoured Hip-Hop/R&B. For me, Apple Music is still King, followed by Spotify then whoever else.

      • +2

        Rock and metal mostly.

        • Yeah same here man!

  • +7

Great timing to test out FLAC files on my new Focal Clears I picked up for $799 in the A2A deal

    • Likewise!

    • +1

Hope there was some good dac/headphone amp deals around the same time so you can enjoy the higher fidelity of Tidal. 😊

      • +1

        I grabbed the Topping DX3 Pro+ for $244 at the time 😄

    • RRP $2199 for them is BS. They aren't worth more than $1200-1300 to begin with. Same goes to nonsence RRP for Utopia $6,999.00

  • Prefer amazon Hi-Fi

    • +1

My AVR only plays 24bit from Amazon 😂 I don't know why.

      • Hahhaa good man

  • +1

This mob don’t make it easy to leave from my experience several years ago.

    • +5

      standard mob method
      .

  • I just want to say thanks :D

    • But still not with Google Assistant, which is annoying, as Android users are more likely to be using Tidal due to hi-res codec scalability.

    • +1

Thanks! just got Tidal working on my Apple watch too :)

  • +1

heads up I tried the 1 month free trial of Tidal and they still don't let you get the maximum music quality unless you're a subscriber.

  • +1

You can't remove your payment method unless you contact support.

      • +4

That's for cancelling subscription not removing payment method.

        • Can you change payment method without contacting support??

        • I got the cancellation confirmation email, so not concerned.

  • Can you use a prepaid credit card with that? Then you don't have to bother about them charging you beyond what you want?

    • They say they don't accept prepaid cards

  • for those who previously used the combo process of Revolut (virtual) and Argentinian signup/vpn method in the past, and recently cancelled … double check your results !
I just tried creating a brand new Multi-Use card, as i'd noticed the default card image for the Multis had changed to MC, whereas it was only ever a Visa showing up previously, and i today managed to reactivate my old Arg Tidal account once again after receiving a notice that 'this Vendor doesn't accept Single Use cards for rebilling purposes'.when i'd tried using a Single Use card earlier.
perhaps it was my prior usage of a single-use MC card that prompted the newly changed offer of a Multi-use MC card, and the algorithm reflects my historical "preferred" card branding - i honestly don't know - so if you don't see a MC on offer as a Multi yourself, perhaps try first establishing a single-use MC card initially (which wont work for Tidal) and then check back after for any change to the MultiCard brand on offer

  • copypasta from a recent email: (I'm on HiFi Plus Family, Argentina)

    "Hello
We are writing to inform you that, due to a technical error, you were not notified of the price increase of your subscription. As of August 1, 2023, the price of your HiFi Plus Family subscription has been changed to $890, but due to the aforementioned error, we will honor the price of your original subscription for one month from your first billing date after August 17, 2023.
Below, we'll break down in detail what you'll need to pay and when.
On your next payment date after August 17, 2023, you will pay $225 through the payment method you have chosen and registered.
Your HiFi Plus Family subscription will then be priced monthly to $890 on your first billing date after September 25, 2023.
We're making this price change to our HiFi Plus Family subscription so we can continue to bring new features to music lovers and fans like you and continue to pay artists the best playback rates, despite increased licensing costs."

Long bullcrap story short…. they've increased my monthly subscription by over 295%, so they've definitely clued in to international subs. No way a legitimate local user would cop such an increase. First instinct was to tell them to shove it, but I took a breath and realised new price works out to $3.95 Australian per month. Was paying $1 per month… but I'm still happy to pay $4 ;).

Tidal Australia wants $36 per month for HiFi Plus Family… so I've learned to be humble in accepting my 295% cost increase. Gotta love them Peso's! ;)

    • Where've you been? That Argentinian price increase is well documented. I hope our subs continue. I'm happy to pay $4 but not $36.

      • I've spoken too soon…. they just cancelled my sub due to "failed payment".
I've got a Visa and MC and both are being denied use. It still shows the $225 Peso's when trying to re-sign on a new sub, so that $890 bullcrap is just a special price for us.

Oh well, bye bye Tidal. You'd think they'd want something from me than nothing.

        • +1

Aww :( I'm not looking forward to my rejection early next month. I better check out how to rip Tidal tracks whilst I can.

  • I'm not eligible for this offer apparently.

Mind you I've had a few trials in the past one was pretty recent so I think they're on to me LoL

  • +3

Just got kicked off the platform for "not paying"

I will say tidal has been the worst platform I have used, have not been able to get offline mode working etc.

Music quality is good. But not worth the hassle. Doesn't integrate with Google home, very little support with Bluetooth steaming in cars (titles, artists, next tracks, etc)

I only stuck with it because of the $1 a month.

    What's everyone moving to now?

  • +2

Just got notification that 'you have no active subscription'.
Are there any other countries that this still works?

  • +1

just lost mine a couple of days ago too, unsure what to do now…
