    Bose QuietComfort Headphones - $549.95

What is the difference between QuietComfort 45 Headphones, QuietComfort Ultra Headphones, and QuietComfort Headphones?
Bose QuietComfort Headphones are the successors to QuietComfort 45 Headphones. They deliver high-fidelity audio performance and world-class noise cancellation that allow you to hear more of your films and music – while travelling, at the office or at home. QuietComfort Ultra Headphones offer our most premium design and our most advanced technologies, for the best Bose listening experience in a headphone. With QuietComfort Ultra Headphones, you will enjoy our best headphone noise cancellation, audio quality personalised with CustomTune, and voice pickup, among other premium features.

    Didn't realise the QC45 was already 2 years old…

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds - $449.95

What are the differences between QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds and their predecessor, QuietComfort Earbuds II?
QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds offer all the same features as their predecessor, QuietComfort Earbuds II, plus breakthrough Bose Immersive Audio and the addition of Immersive Audio settings for Custom Modes. Other new features include Snapdragon Sound certification, using hi-res audio and low latency codec, Qualcomm aptX Adaptive, and Google Fast Pair. QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds also feature a new metallic finish on earbuds, as well as a new notch/key alignment feature for stability bands that makes them easier to swap in and out.

    • Translation: we got LE Audio certification with our new chips and slapped them in. 24 hour battery life suggests they skimped on battery size, even if they opted for LC3Plus.

Never worth this kind of money, and I'd imagine Boss will continue their long trend of delivering disappointing technical performance and bass bloat.

  • Have they sorted out the bass (lack of) issue?

    • +2

Bose never lack for bass save for maybe some sub-bass rumble. Bass and bass distortion are usually a huge issue with these kinds of 'consumer' tunings.

  • Normal price.

    No deal…

      OzFYI.

If it means anything, compared to the rest of the world these are actually a good deal:

      Bose AU $649 AUD
      Bose UK 450GBP ($855 AUD)
Bose US 462USD w/ sales tax ($719 AUD)

I wonder if theres a possible price rise coming?

  • +1

$649, and yet still don't have the proximity sensor like Sony and Apple has….

    • Agree, whilst Bose is good, I would rather get a pair of XM5’s or AirPods Max.

      • +1

        Most ozb's would rather qc45 for $245.
Even refurb xm4s don't get that cheap
All these anywhere near RRP arent worth it

        • +1

I mean, sure, the QC45 for $245 is a no brainer but I’m talking about what I would buy at RRP. Bose just aren’t my thing after owning the QC35II a few years back. Each to their own I suppose.

        • +1

$245 - I'd like that. Is it around?

  • +2

Is this a discount or a public announcement ?

    • +1

OzPSA OzRRP OzFYI, it’s whatever you want it to be.

  • I suppose bose saw how much apple asks for their headset and decided to do the same to stay in "premium" league, sad.

  • Are the Focal Bathys a better deal at $650?

    • +2

depends on what your looking for.
Bose pack up into a smaller case, are smaller on the head and will have better sound cancelling. Bose also might be better for phone calls. I read reviews stating the focals are terrible for this, I've personally found the opposite to be true (much better than qc45's I previously owned). Bose also might have a better transparency mode.

I've had the focal Bathy's for 3 weeks now, I really like them. They are a lot closer to focal clears (their wired headphones) than I expected. I'm over the moon on that fact. But they are quite a big headphone, so I don't really walk around with them on. don't get me wrong you can. The sound cancelling, is also quite good.
      hope this helps.

        Thanks.
I've been using my Sony XM2s since 2018, almost daily and they finally have died.
Figured I might treat myself to a set of high end wireless headphones if I'm going to make good use of them.

Now to weigh it up the options. Didn't know the the Bathys were much bigger.

        • +1

the bathys are 350g's and the sony's are reportedly 250. the Ultra's appear to be a little bigger than the bose 700's and qc45's.
it's not a big difference. ultra's are likely extremely similar in size to your xm2's.
its also said that the ultra's have the same drivers as the bose 700's. I personally liked how the 700's sounded. quite muddy compared to the bathy's, but it will be a huge step up in audio quality to the xm2's. either one you choose, i believe you'll have a really good time with it.
