  • do you know what the speeds are for the dt111? Kingston dont seem to list their speeds for this one even on their own website + spec sheet

      Just check on the Internet:

      30mb/sec write
      50mb/sec read

      Source:
      Thread #9 with Kingston's e-mail reply.
      http://slickdeals.net/f/5188064-Kingston-DataTraveler-111-16…

      • Did see that but was hoping to hear it from the seller's mouth since if you go onto the next page of that thread, seems they werent sure if it was mega bit per sec (mb/sec) or otherwise. If it is 30megabit per sec, it is quite slow for USB 3.0

      • With speeds like that, it's kind of pointless to use USB 3.0 since 2.0 can support those speeds.

I like the Sandisk, but they look so ugly.

    • No guaranteed speeds = product targeted at wishful thinkers.

the rep is very selective on what he comments on…

  • Slow write speed according to Amazon reviewer- he/she got 11/MBs.

  • OP, your link for the 32GB goes to the 16GB and the link for the 16GB goes to the 32GB.

    • Thanks, just fixed.

  • Sandisk extremes are cheaper at scorpion (if you pick up in Vic)

    $19 for the 16gb

  • Is there any possibility of combined shipping?

    • Yes, for Kingston $1.95 Shipping for 1st item, $0.98 Shipping Each additional item. Check out the multiple item together and get the discount.

I think read speed could be 40megs/sec, Write would certainly be no greater than 20MB/s.
    Source: http://usbflashspeed.com/device/22416

Also, there was this informative, whilst unfavorable, Amazon review.
    http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Digital-DataTraveler-DT111-32…

Unfortunately, after running Crystal Disk Mark (see my uploaded test image), it is clear that the Malaysian vendor was simply lying. From my own test, the sequential read speed was 56MB/s (acceptable and better than any USB 2.0 flash drive) but the sequential write was only 11MB/s, one third of the Malaysian vendor's quoted speed and no better than the fastest write speed on some of the newer USB 2.0 flash drives.

@danilochan, you care to share what speed Data Traveler 111 is really?

I highly doubt this 111 could make such a list that compares benchmarks.

My eye, therefore, is on "S102 PRO 32 GB" worth USD18.13 Amazon: thanks Mr chan if you can supply to AUS. S102 PRO reportedly achieves 40-50MB/s write, making it effectively a 10min drive with 30GB.

  • Seems like USB2 controller with a USB3 jack.
Good way to use up old stock.
Plus don't really trust Shopping Square and there "generic" packaging.
Will wait for the inevitable better deal….Flingshot, no doubt you can better this?
    No Bingo.

  • The Sandisk Extreme are very fast drives - probably faster than your source media can provide data to the drive in fact.

Seems a bit hit and miss as to whether or not you get a reliable drive though.

  • Danilo, can you beat $65 for 64GB Sandisk?

  • I have gone on a personal vendetta against this mob.

Purchased Asus EEE Slate on the 13th of September and all I have so far is a "Confirmed Payment" status.

No reply to etickets nor any response via Paypal Dispute.

Furthermore, they change their "estimated shipping dates" automatically (I have proof of this) if there are delays with the shippment.

    Idiots.
