15% off Ultimate eGift Cards (Variable Load, 1 Order Per Customer, Max Value $2,500) @ Giftcards.com.au » All Comments

    • Hmm, yes but you remember the bargain long after you forget the labour ;)
I remeber running around Coles stores for physical 15% giftcards a few years ago to buy the new iphone - that was a lot more effort. Compared to that this is pretty easy

  • Would I be right in thinking it would be wise to convert these cards into a retailer?
I already have a few JB Cards, I'm thinking I should convert these too as it's (probably?) unlikely JB is going anywhere and their gift cards don't expire.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Slowly building money up for some big purchases.

  • +3

Just used 2000 worth on Ikea Online purchase.

It was painful to covert 2000 worth in 2x200 and 1x100 online gift cards as the max you can go for a single Ultimate card is 500.

In the end though it all worked and saved 15% on my ikea purchases (Pax wardrobe for a new build).

Thank you to the original poster!

  • Can anyone advise if I can buy a iPhone pro max using 4 * 500 aud ultimate home gift cards and remaining on personal eftpos credit card. I understand the ultimate gift cards are like eftpos cards and can be used as a eftpos while paying for your phone if added into Apple Pay but I haven’t done this before . Can someone confirm this before I pull a trigger on this massive gift card transaction?
I am flying overseas soon so would also try TDS return .

    • +2

      Sharing my experience
I bought 5*500 ultimate home gift card using my Amex card, got all gift card in my email within 10mins. I then added all of them to my apple wallet using card no and cvv.
Backordered iphone 15 pro max at Good guys, no dramas, using apple pay.

      • @rakuju87 What is the expiry date on this card if you don’t mind sharing? As in a year or lesser from when you purchased ?

        • +1

          Mine was year 2028

          • -1

@rakuju87: Tried to dummy order on the good guys store website and don’t seem to get the Apple Pay option . How did you get the option ?

Did you walk into a store and order it using split payment ?

            • +1

@glenf: For split payments you have to visit the store

  • I'm thinking only to activate my Ultimate Home when I'm ready to make my purchase. Does anyone know if this will protect it from being "hacked" (card number guessing) like those Coles Mastercard gift cards.

How long do I need to activate the card after its issuance date? and what's the expiry for these Ultimate cards? Thanks

  • Hi all,

Has anyone got the error "Invalid Card - Check the information on your card and try again" When trying to add the gift card to your apple wallet? Any help here would be great.

    Thank you!

    • +1

      Few fixes to try:
      1. Restart phone try again.
      2. Try again after some time
      3. Try on another iPhone
      4. Try on Apple Watch

      • Ill have to try another phone as still not working for me… Thanks for the tips though. Whole process is very painful.

  • Does this 15% off deal pop up very often?

Will it happen around Christmas time?

    • +1

      My crystal ball said NO

  • If I buy Ultimate Him, do I use it directly in store just like I would a debit card (if I can add it to my wallet) ? Or do I need to buy the store's gift card first or convert it online somehow (I saw someone mention you have to convert it to uber eats if you want to use it for uber eats)

    • I added it to google wallet and paid in store like a normal credit card.

  • Would using this to buy a lenovo laptop from OW/JB be better than buying direct with sales? Can't find exact comparable deals but was just wondering in general..
    E.g. Lenovo sale
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/799539
    Vs JB

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lenovo-legion-5i-pro-16-w…

    • JB and Officeworks have very overpriced laptops most of the time. $3300 after 'discount' from using the Ultimate gift cards is still ridiculously bad for a 3070Ti laptop.

  • +1

Anyone else having issued purchasing the gift cards with their Amex

Have just about given up as I continue to receive the below error.

    Payment Details
Transaction failed, please contact customer service.

    • +2

I've tried more than 10 times over the span of an hour with my Amex card. Kept having that SafeKey thing pop up but would still show up that error. Eventually it wouldn't even show up and go straight to the error message.

Going to give up. Not worth the hassle.

    • I got it in 1 go with my AMEX on the first go.

    • I get the same error on my explorer but it passes on my Charge card

  • Can I get one that accepts Officeworks to buy a VISA gift card instore since it's like a credit function?

    • +2

      Probably not.

Officeworks has a gift card policy where it says you cannot use any gift cards to pay for a gift card sold by them.

Additionally, Officeworks started updating their instore checkout systems June 2023 to automatically block people from using Ultimate gift cards to pay for gift cards sold at Officeworks (e.g. Activ Visa, Apple, Coles Group & Myer), even if you are using an Ultimate gift card from a mobile wallet. I have run into this automatic block a few times at multiple Officeworks stores, so it looks like Officeworks has thoroughly patched this out… at least for now.

In terms of online purchases, there have a been a couple of complaints from people on this deal post that they cannot complete an online purchase on the Officeworks website, even if they are purchasing “regular” items. It sounds like Officeworks’ fraud detection controls are flagging purchases from Ultimate gift cards for some reason. With that in mind, I would expect you to have problems trying to purchase a gift card online using an Ultimate gift card.

In terms of over-the-phone purchases, someone told me an Ultimate gift card was not accepted when trying to purchase a gift card, but they did not elaborate what happened.

      • oh okay thanks. I read somewhere that ultimate giftcards ran off the Visa network and not technically a giftcard (even though it's called that)
        Good to know!

        • +1

The Ultimate gift cards in this deal operate on the Visa network, but it is quite easy for Officeworks to tell that you are using an Ultimate gift card. I talk about it in more detail here.

  • Ok after trying with 3 different CC's and getting "transaction failed" I used a debit visa card and it worked, had to try twice though.

  • +2

Worked great for me. Wasn't 100% sure how it was gonna work in-store.
Got 5x $500 vouchers, paid using CBA credit card (mastercard). Gift cards emailed in about 20 minutes. Loaded them onto my Apple Wallet.
Walked into JB Hi-Fi, paid for iPhone 15 Pro using the cards in $500 chunks.

    • Pulled the trigger based on your confident comment . Thanks mate

      • That's why I commented haha. I'm always a bit wary with this stuff being "too good to be true". E.g. you can't use the vouchers in store, can only use 1 voucher, can't use them for Apple products, or god knows what else. Glad my comment helped someone.

  • +1

For anyone on the fence… I just successfully purchase $1500 Home UGC using my Coles Mastercard. Giftcards came in 10 minutes after purchase.

  • +1

FYI - The Good Guys has a 15% off a huge range, ends tomorrow

    • Do you know if it end tonight at midnight or tomorrow closing time?

  • +1

Tried 3 different browsers: FF, Safari and Edge.

FF: payment details wheel is spinning
Safari: can't get past the part where you add your details
Edge: payment details wheel is spinning

Also tried on my phone. Same issues.

"Support" are a bloody joke. They kept saying it must be a device or browser issue, despite me explaining multiple times I've already eliminated that possibility. And I've bought GC's from them plenty of times before but the only time I can't is now.

Anyone else having the same issues?

    • Just something based on my experience being the exact same as yours, FF stuck on payments, safari stuck on details… are you entering a message? It says it's 'optional' but every time I tried proceeding without entering one it doesn't work, but every time I do add a message it works fine

      • Tried it and still doesn't work. Using my Amex and have tried on Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Safari and incognito, nothing is working.

      • +1

FMD this has taken waaaaay too much time out of my day. Figured it out finally! It was the VPN connection that was preventing me from getting to the Payment Details screen.

So, you can use a VPN for the website itself, but as soon as you go to pay, it bugs out and spins indefinitely on Payment Details. I tried a new dummy order from scratch without the VPN and it took me to the next screen to enter in my card details Which is odd, since I have bought cards from them before but I don't recall ever needing to kill the VPN.

Hopefully this helps anyone else out that's unsuccessfully trying to pay with their VPN connected.

    • For me (coincidence or not) when I turned off my adblocker I was able to enter the payment details. Otherwise I was also stuck on the loading wheel spinning.

  • Hi may I ask a question? Could these cards be used to pay bill at post office? Thanks

    • +1

I don’t think so as the post office logo isn’t listed on the cards.

      • Thanks heaps, which type of gift cards can be used to pay bills please? Hopefully it’s not a dump question for you

        • +2

pay bills using your credit card, not gift cards.

    • You will need to add these gift-cards into your current iphone Apple Wallet or Google wallet if using Android. Then go to JB-hifi and purchase Apple Giftcards and pay using the cards in the wallet, simple as that.

Then add these Apple Giftcards to your Apple Account then pay for new iphone using Apple Account Balance.

      • -1

        Thanks for your reply.
But some here in comments are saying, you won't be allowed to buy apple giftcard using ultimate giftcard (or giftcard using giftcard) ,isn't that true?

or you mean I don't tell them I am using giftcard and tell them I will be using visa debit card and tap it? is it so?
Even in that case, I would be just adding the giftcard as individual card in my wallet and they will be able to see i am actually using giftcard isn't it?
        Am i missing something?

do you have any idea what is max denomination of apple card I can buy in a day using this method?

Once I have the apple giftcard i plan to go to store and ask them to redeem it as it says available in apple store only.

        • When you check out using Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, it appears as you are using your credit/debit card so it will go through normally. JBhifi won't even know that you are using Ultimate Giftcards - essentially the Ultimate Giftcards is a virtually VISA cards.

do you have any idea what is max denomination of apple card I can buy in a day using this method?

depends on stock, I could only buy $50 at my local store. JB Hifi told me they sold out $100, $200 and $500.

Also buy on batches, let's say if you get 10 of $50 then tell them I'll pay for these 10 first, then proceed paying another batch. I have been using this at different stores, no one cares.

Once I have the apple giftcard i plan to go to store and ask them to redeem it as it says available in apple store only.

Best to add to your Apple Account. I am not sure if you can use physically.

        • Just tell them that you are paying by cards.

      • -1

Am I correct that you can only purchase the Apple GC instore at JB?

        • I haven't tried online.

    • Just wait for the stock at JB HiFi. Just a note, I wasn't able to pay at JB HiFi using Ultimate Home + Google Wallet, so I converted mine online to JB HiFi cards.

      • Too long…i know apple is doing it for marketing purpose so that they can show that it is very high demand and people value products when it is scare, but this drama is suppose to go for few more weeks…or giving priority to US users…..i am not that apple lover, actually buying it for someone else..
Otherwise, at this particular point there maybe 200k-500k people trying to buy or upgrade to iphone 15 and they cannot bring that in 10 days not possible (amazon delivers from amazon us in 3-4 days these days)…
But apple's website is saying it is available in store, I don't know why it is taking weeks for jbhifi and other stores…

      • When you say convert, did you just convert the UGC directly to JB HiFi? Can you please share how? Thanks!

        • +1

Add $500 (or less) JB Gift Card to your cart on their website, then checkout using Ultimate Card like it's a VISA card.

      • Did it there and have been waiting for 2 weeks now…they have not been able to provide it..
what a shame apple and jbhifi…cannot provide phone after paying for weeks…

  • Have they resolved the issue of adding multiple cards to apple wallet yet? That seems to be the biggest limiting factor for most people

    • I added 4 and used them no problem @ JB

  • I bought 4 gift cards, when adding the 4th into my apple wallet it says it’s invalid but I’ve triple checked the details are correct. Tried calling support but there’s no way to get through to an actual human

  • I am wondering when buying a TV, Fridge blah blah has anyone compared NV, JB and GG and seen who is the cheapest? Generally speaking, VS sales? Hard to know! 15% off is good tho!

  • +2

Thanks for this, got JB to price match Amazon, then bought these cards, used Apple Pay to convert one to a JB Gift Card, then purchased the item with the JB Gift Card and the other Ultimate Gift Card. Nice.

    • What did you price match?

    • The price of the iPhone 15 pro at JB is higher than on Kogan.com. Do they price match Apple products?

      • $50 cheaper for First Kogan Members, right?

        • Thats correct. Their credit card comes with complimentary Kogan First membership

  • Tried five times and just doesn't want to play the game. Oh well

    • I was trying to pay using commonwealth cards, it did not go, I tried with BOQ and it was fine

  • Checked out in Incognito Chrome - worked all fine for me.

  • +12

    And that’s a wrap OzBargainers!

70,000+ clicks, countless of transaction failures, hours of chatting with customer supports, many iPhone 15s have been sold because of this…

    Till the next time folks!

    • +1

Cheers OP and @WookieMonster, appreciate both of you for your support and for posting. Planning to purchase a new laptop soon and this deal will be put to good use.

  • +1

Hopefully they can do 10% off on Coles prepaid Mastercard starting tomorrow. About time!

    • Are you hoping, or is this happening?

      • Hoping and wishing

  • +11

Thanks for the post OP. For people converting to JB you can do it directly on the ultimate gift card website again. No need to go through the headache of purchasing GCs via JB.

    • +1

Thank goodness. Only took nearly two years for this feature to be brought back for JB Hi-Fi.

My guess is that this exchange option will disappear again ahead of Black Friday.

      • My guess is they added it, because they saw how many people converted it anyway, and it was generating them too many failures in their systems.

    • Thanks for the heads up. Is it simply the case of using the UGC to pay for the JB/Apple giftcards?

      • +1

On the UGC website you click "exchange for e-gift" and it takes you to this link.

        https://exchangeyourcard.com.au/

You put the card number, CVV and expiry in and you will be shown the exchange options - JB will be there if applicable, and you can exchange the full amount or partial amounts.

I am not sure about Apple.

        • How long does it take to get the cards exchanged?

          • @choofa: Instant

            • @currentfad: hmmm… I put one through a few hours ago and nothing yet, and just did another one now but nothing so far. I guess I just wait it out…

              • @choofa: When I exchanged it was already on the same page and you could print it out or whatever.

Also got an email with the voucher instantly too.

                • @currentfad: It now says that you will be emailed the voucher within 24 hours and you can only print a receipt, which I did

    • Hi can you please explain this process

    • Thanks for sharing this, made my life easier.

  • oh NO! discount not showing on checkout anymore!

    • +1

Well it did say it will expire at 5pm lol

      • +1

oh no! 15 mins too late!

    • Oh no :(

  • +1

Regret not buying more than $500 but I wouldn't feel comfortable sitting with that many gift cards for a long time (I don't have anything I want to buy yet..)

I'll put it towards a ps5 pro next year, hopefully EB has a nice trade in bonus for my ps4 pro.

  • +7

This was a damn good deal. I bought $1000 worth of apple gift cards from JB using apple pay after I had bought the Ultimate Him cards. Then walked over to apple store - exchanged my iPhone 12 64GB for $430 - and then paid $69 top up for the iPhone 15 - 128 GB. Altogether $919 out of pocket for a brand new iPhone. When I explained this to the apple guy who was selling me the phone - he was gobsmacked.
Thanks OP and others - very happy. Hail OzB!

    • +1

Wait : so you uploaded the ultimate gift cards onto your iPhone (wallet), then went to JB HIFI, and used Apple pay wallet to buy Apple gift cards?

      • Correct

        • Thanks! I'll look into it. This gets around the "can't buy gift cards with other gift cards" thing

  • +2

Thought it was until midnight 😔. Might try an pick up some discounted TGG cards for a $3.5k oven I just ordered through Commercial.

    • +1

Likewise…went to buy only to find expired. Ah well, will look at the bright side as it saved me from buying a non-essential item from JB. It was the 15% off that was initially swaying me but will hold off now. :-)

  • Hi all, I purchased the Ultimate eGift Cards a few hours ago (5 hours ago, my ING was shown pending) and the card is now registered, activated and added to my Google wallet. However, I tried to use it in Ikea, it failed. Does anyone know why?

  • Oh man I didn’t realise this expired at 5PM - only saw this in the morning and planned to buy after work.
Is there any equivalent deal on iPhone 15s at the moment?

    • You wouldn't believe it but my phone literally broke 5pm today. lol. What can you do.

  • I wanted to buy Apple Gift Cards in JB Hi-Fi, and they were sold out in my closest store. As I was leaving, I overheard one colleague asking another, what is happening? Why are people suddenly buying so many Apple Gift Cards? Sadly, I didn't hear the end…

  • +1

Does anyone know if JB can put your name on the receipt for an iPhone 15 Pro? Stacking these (15%) with the extra TRS (10%) GST back is my intention.

    • They can provide you with a tax invoice.

  • I can't seem to be able to add it to uber/ubereats payment methods, anyone else having this problem?

    • +3

You have to exchange it I believe

    • +2

      That is to be expected.

If you look at the Ultimate Him gift card webpage on the Ultimate gift card website (which is the source of truth for where and how you use an Ultimate gift card), Uber and Uber Eats are only listed under the Exchange for eGift redemption option.

In other words, you need to go to the Ultimate gift card exchange portal (and the link to this can also be found on the Ultimate gift card website), enter your Ultimate Him gift card's details on the login page, then choose Uber (or Uber Eats). You will need to provide an email address during the exchange process, then you will have an Uber (or Uber Eats) gift card emailed to you that you can add to your Uber / Uber Eats wallet.

      • +1

        Didn't find that, thanks

  • +6

    Long-time lurker, first-time poster.

I signed up just to say a massive THANKS to @BargainsGrabber and everyone else who patiently helped out the rest of us first-timers (with gift card schemes). THANKS!

Thanks to several posts explaining reasonably clearly (always hard without screenshots) what we had to do in several scenarios.

I ended up being confident enough to get 4x$500 Ultimate Home GC's ($2000), at about 2 am last night, for $1700. Everything so far very smooth, and I'm glad I read so much before trying myself, as if I got to the stage where something was not working, I would have been super stressed about whether my money was gone/double charged/etc.

    • Major bank Debit Card, late at night when the site wasn't getting pumped, 1st payment attempt, $2000 in one hit, all good, receipt in about 1 minute, 4 separate emails with the cards in about 8 mins. MASSIVE RELIEF.

    • Very old iPhone (7 years old now, all day, every day use), added each UH GC patiently, one by one to Apple wallet, all added fine. MASSIVE RELIEF.

    So, thanks again!

    • Wow 2k.. and i was trying to get 1x$100 for buying uber eat and failed lol..

      • +1

This is my second batch, I think I have $5k worth of these now AND $2500 of Apple (maybe $3k? not sure)

        Gotta spend it all.

        • +3

          Amazing.. congratulations

    • The main plan was to get a new iPhone 15 (long-awaited upgrade, from a 7!), and I'm just not sure about the model still, so I got $2000 worth, to cover a few options.

      • I think the iPhone 15 Pro Max is just a bit too much money, and not sure about extra size in pocket. Plus, tried to get an extra $100/$200 UC GC after work today… 5:01pm… no discount showing (adios amigo!).

      • So, either, iPhone 15 Pro, 256gb - $2,049 (x 0.85 = $1,741.65), and have to just add $49. And I have a $100 Apple GC somewhere to get a case/screen protector from Apple store.

      • Or, iPhone 15 Pro, 128gb - $1,849 (x 0.85 = $1,571.65), and have $151 GC credit left for … ? … more choice on cases etc at JB?

      • iPhone 15 (non Pro), 128gb - $1,499 (x 0.85 = $ 1,274.15), and have $501 GC credit left for … ? I'm just not sure about the longevity on the lower model, USB-2 transfer speeds, and a couple of camera and other things. But hey, I've been putting up with an iPhone 7! Hahaha.

Another part of me feels like I should be getting something "better than just a phone" with $2k. Like one of the DJI Fly More drone kits etc. Hmmm.

Any feedback from any early iPhone purchasers here?

JB vs Good Guys? Is Good Guys as 'hit and miss' as Officeworks to buy in store (using UC GC on Apple wallet)? JB seems safest, but GG have $100 credit?

Massive thanks to all. Enjoy your 15% off things!

      • +2

Apple will give you $55 for tradein on the 7, Gumtree will give you anywhere from $70 to $150 at best.

Don't buy the non pro, the titanium weighs less, the cameras are mind blowing.

        • Cheers for the iPhone feedback Ham!

iPhone 7 has a crack from the lower left corner (and has charging/charge port issues, they might not notice), but with a crack in the screen, I don't think I can get jack for the trade-in, unfortunately. So it'll probably be a spare/house phone for Chromecast/Spotify for anyone to use.

I also looked at the $650/$1000 off deals for going with Vodafone in-store at Apple store… but I've been with them (V) for years, and looking for a change (might try Telstra pre-paid for a bit, via Boost or Belong?). And also the best of the 3 deals is for 'new' customers only.

  • Anyone having issue adding to Apple wallet? I tried several times, come up with the error “invalid card detail” wtf, same thing happen when tried to add restaurant choice gift card too.

    • I do have this issue after adding about 6 gift cards, it's been a few days and I still getting the error, however I have an old Iphone 6 lying around and was able to add 10+ cards so far on that iphone 6

      • I don’t think thats the problem I’m having, I can add other gift card, but for blackhawk network card ie ultimate and restaurant choice, they all having error..no sure how to fix atm..

        • Same with me. I have 4 x $500 cards. Could add one, can’t add the other 3. Raised a ticket and still waiting for a response.

  • +2

Just wanted to thank @BargainsGrabber and everyone on this thread. This was an insane deal!
    Love OZBargain Community!
    Cheers!

    • +1

      Indeed! Thanks @BargainsGrabber.

  • Purchased the card and added to my digital wallet. Do I need to activate it? It does not work with Apple Pay on iPhone for valid merchants payment page (say Uber Eats)

    • Did you check the Ultimate gift card website to see how participating retailers accept Ultimate gift cards?

The Ultimate gift card website says are three different ways participating retailers accept Ultimate gift cards:

      • Instore
      • Online
      • Exchange for eGift

For Uber Eats (and Uber), the only listed redemption option is Exchange for eGift, which means attempting to link an Ultimate gift card to your Uber Eats account should fail, and trying to use an Ultimate gift card via Apple Pay on Uber Eats should also fail. In terms of how Uber Eats accepts Ultimate gift cards, I talk about this in more detail a little further up.

      • Thanks for directing me to the instructions, it helps. Just wondering if partial payments can be done on redemption of ultimate gift cards for eGiftCardExchange?

  • Am I the only person who struggle to register gift card on my apple wallet?

    • same here, I cannnot add them to my apple wallet, come up with invalid card…

      • same :9

    • Are you adding the details manually?

Don't take a photo of the card, as it automatically grabs the "PCN" (which gives an error).

Manually add the GC details, entering the "Card" number, and the "CVV" as "Security".

      • yeah I did manually but it keep saying contact to card customer service centre :0

  • -3

Is it still on or already expired ?

Have a read on the OP’s description mate, or the big red label ontop of the deal title

    • +5

      It’s still on

Just use the promo code - ‘Please’

      • Where can I use the Promo code on the website

        • +2

Hey, I am sorry lol but I was only pulling the other person’s leg.
The promotion is well and truely over, sorry 😞

I think we are able to swap JB HI-FI Gift card with "Exchange for eGift" on ultimate website now.

    • Yeah, I swapped some this morning.

Now I have eight Cancelled Transaction for gift card purchases in my jb account for nothing.

The 15% off came at a price lol, can’t have everything in life…

      • Is this a normal JB Hi-Fi gift card you were able to swap? Or is this from the Ultimate cards/network only?

    • Can you tell me more? Are you saying you can change the ultimate card to a jb e-gift card?
      Is it an easy process?

      • Go to www.ultimategiftcards.com.au

Click "EXCHANGE FOR EGIFT" at the top

        Enter your card details

You will be able to see available brands to exchange

Mine is Ultimate Home, I see Ikea, JB-Hifi and others

        • I exchanged my ultimate home card to a jb hifi card and the check balance says it’s there but when on jb site it’s not letting me use it anyone have this issue?

  • +1

Went to 3 jbs and all sold out on apple gift cards. Wanted to get iphone at apple store now im stuffed lol

Great i think I outsmarted myself now I'm stuck with $1000 giftcards.

    • Did you ask them about when would they have more Apple gift cards available for sale?

    • +2

Just go back next week? They're not sold out forever lol

      • +1

I got a apple iphone on reserve tomorrow morning… didnt realise they be all gone tonight

    • Since most JBs are sold out of Apple gift cards - anyone know (or tried) if it's possible to grab the Apple gift cards let's say from Coles/Woolies (unpurchased), then bring it to JB to purchase/activate? Or would the Apple gift cards be allocated to specific retailers?

      • +4

Can you even do that? That feels like stealing.

      • Come on, have some respect for yourself.
Work a little harder if you have to,
🤦🏻‍♂️ Imagine doing all of that for a little extra $$

      • Or would the Apple gift cards be allocated to specific retailers?

I guess you could try, and find out the hard way that the serial numbers are tracked by certain retailers.

        • Well, not really

The gift card vendors just come and stock these cards randomly. They aren’t really tracked like we would expect them to be.

It’s entirely possible that one could nick a few gift cards from WW to pay for and activate them at a JB.

          • +1

            @Gervais fanboy:

Cool. I dare you to try paying for a variable load ($500) Apple GC at JB Hi-Fi (obtained elsewhere).

            • @DoctorCalculon: Well, I am not going to do anything like that. Especially not over a ‘I dare you’ challenge on Ozbargain lol.
We’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one?
Hey, maybe the gift cards vendors have recently changed their whole gift card distribution setup and yeah, you could be 100% right.

    • @richmond where are you? Ill pay sale price for 1 of the jb cards

      • Melb. Ended up finding a jb that had some last minute but still have $500 left on ultimate gc home. Not sure what to do with it lol

        • Sell it, lol. Hell, I’ll take it 🤣

  • Are you guys able to pay through a gift card online ? I tried not working for me

  • -3

Hi @ Gervais fanboy Where can I use Promo code “Please” on the web site , thanks

  • +1

    Missed out :(

  • still waiting on my iPhone pro max 256gb to come in stock, i ordered on 21st at jbhifi, they said mid nov :/
and if i want to change the colour selection (ordered black) my position will reset in the que

  • Just order your apple stuff at JB guys, they may stop doing promos like this because of the apple gift card shenanigans.

  • -1

I know it’s expired but can you use these cards online with jb?

    • +2

Yes, but you can only use one UGC per transaction at JB online, since they essentially function like a prepaid credit card.

If you want to use more than one, e.g. for transactions greater than $500, you first need to convert them to JB gift cards either by buying them from JB online (1 per transaction, maximum 2 transactions per day) or exchange them via the UGC website. That’s what I did to make a $1000+ purchase yesterday, used 3 x $500 UGC to buy 3 JB GC (already had converted 2 of them earlier in the week) and then applied the 3 JB GC for my purchase (with a residual amount still available on one of the JB GC).

When the stars align, these UGC discount offers can really boost your savings: I bought an already discounted Surface laptop on my Wishlist by stacking the JB 10% off storewide AFTERDARKSEPT23 coupon (expires 8am AEST today) and using the 15% discounted UGC/JB GC to get a 38% discount off RRP overall. I was originally hoping for a good Black Friday deal but luckily didn’t have to wait that long for a decent enough price.

  • anyone else can't get on the exchange site? Privacy error

  • Has anyone here tried to purchase something from jbcommerical? Curious to know if my Ultimate GC will work there. Many thanks in advance!

  • +1

Looks like apple gift cards are wiped out across JB in Sydney. Anyone have any luck buying apple gift cards with Apple Pay or google pay at TGG? Officeworks didn’t work unfortunately.

    • What stores did you try?

      • +1

Miranda, Roselands, Caringbah and Eastgardens so far

  • Hi guys, I went to Jb to swap the UC for Apple gift cards. I did not mention, I have an UC. I picked up $200 X 2 and $100 X 1.The counter chick told me, there is a limit for gift cards and you can buy only one $200.

I bought one. Easy transaction. On my way back, dropped into another JB store, got told the same thing. Got another $200.
    Nice pain.

Any tips to get more Apple GC from JB? Or just keep going everyday.

    • Mostly depending on the staff who serve you. A girl i met imposed a $1k limit PER customer on me. Even when i came back later, she didn't let me buy more. Another girl let me buy $1k and told me to do it again 15mins later. Same store.

  • Does anyone else using Bankwest have this REPEATEDLY FAIL when trying to do it?

Yeah I know it's expired, but next time I wanna catch it on both my cards!

It's very annoying, I have to resort to my AMEX

    • bankwest alg, they only stop me for crypto purchases even after i validate with sms

  • +3

Just a recap to say it all worked, and thanks again to all the helpers!

Went in to JB Hifi this arv, picked out a new iPhone 15 Pro, and told them at the counter that I'd like to split the payments, they asked "with what", and I just said "Gift cards, but they are Visa, so don't set them up as gift cards, and I've already added them to my Apple wallet, and they'll be charged $500 each" etc. Then I just tapped the 4 x UH GC's, one at a time, for $500 each, and then paid the remaining $100-ish on my physical debit card. All done, iPhone, case, and receipt handed to me.

Everything went smoothly for me, but mostly due to the continually refined instructions by the community here.

    Massive thanks again.

    • Any reason why buying from JB rather than Apple direct?

Just because you didn't get Apple cards. I'm just wondering if it's cheaper at JB?

        1. It seemed like a bit of an extra and reasonably unnecessary stuff-around… to go to JB… to then see how many $200 Apple cards I could get, then if not enough (looking for 10) go to another JB, then maybe another (!), then once had all 10 x $200 Apple cards, have to add them all to my Apple Pay/Account (because can't use more than 7/8 in Apple store), then physically go to Apple store and see if they even have any stock or not (see below), and when no stock of any iPhone 15 Pro's at all… then wait several weeks and hope it all works out that you eventually get a phone…
          …Vs…
Go to JB… get the iPhone in my hands, today, in less than 10 mins in-store (just 1 store too).

        2. Apple store near me had no stock of iPhones, and definitely not any of the models I wanted anyway (JB was right away, today).

        • Which Jb had stock? None of the stores I went to had stock…

          • @nosrad: 3 stores in the Newcastle area, showing stock of different models at different stores most of this week, I was mostly checking on iPhone 15 Pro (128gb + 256gb, Black + Blue). I was told I got the last Black one in 256gb at Kotara Homemaker store.

      • Aren't you limited to 8 gift cards with Apple? In other words, you will be able to spend only $1600 if you buy cards at JB Hi-Fi.

        • Yes, that's why I mentioned that the only workaround that I heard of, was to add all of your Apple gift cards (10x) to Apple Pay (not Apple Wallet), and "apparently" the Apple store will/might accept payment this way.

Too many "might work/might not" scenarios for me overall. I didn't want to get stuck with a heap of Apple cards that wouldn't all be accepted by Apple, but then also not accepted anymore by JB.

Is there anyway to convert these to eBay?

  • +1

I bought $2300 worth. Is it safe to just keep them as they are while I wait for something to buy? Is there a chance they'll be hacked online or something? What's the safest way to store them? I'm thinking a physical JBHIFI card but I kind of want to purchase the new iphone from office works for flybyes and best price. Any advice would be appreciated :)

    • Does it make sense to limit yourself to Officeworks? $2300 is 2300 Flybuys points, which is roughly $10. It's better than nothing, but I would rather buy now than wait.

      • True. x5 though for having one pass so it's like $50. I'd assume office works would restock the same time places like JB do

        • Fair enough, can’t you just place a preorder at Officeworks now and collect points?

    • i also want to know the answer to this question…
      - do i leave the card unactivated in email?
      - do i activate it and link it to my phone?
      - do i use it to buy a physcial store giftcard?

  • Anyone have luck finding apple gift cards at jbhifi in sydney?

    • Not me. Keen to know if you find a jb hifi selling those.

  • Just tried my Ultimate Him card on Uber Eats but it does not work. Anyone have any ideas?

    • I tried it yesterday, worked for me

    • +1

Which of these are you trying to do?

      • Are you trying to use your Ultimate Him gift card directly on Uber Eats?

      • Are you attempting to exchange the Ultimate Him gift card for an Uber Eats gift card through the Ultimate gift card exchange portal and are unable to see Uber nor Uber Eats on the gift card portal?

      • Directly on ubereats. Let me try exchanging it. :) thanks!

        • I would have been surprised if it directly worked on Uber and Uber Eats, because I have only ever seen Ultimate gift cards listing Uber and Uber Eats against the Exchange for eGift redemption option on the Ultimate gift card website.

If Uber and Uber Eats directly accepted Ultimate gift cards, it should have been listed against the Online redemption option, but it is not (and I am fairly sure it has never been).

          • @WookieMonster: Wookie, sorry to bug you, I messaged about payments for these? A lot of us had issues where it won't process.

Both times with this I've HAD to use my AMEX or it just won't work, period.

Any idea what the deal is? Know of a workaround?

            • @hamwhisperer: I am entirely not sure what was going on during this deal.

Based off the multitude of comments through this deal, it sounded like it could have been one or both of the following:

              • Card issuers declining payments, whether it is due to suspected fraud or the purchase appearing to be a cash advance or some other reason.

              • Giftcards.com.au refusing to process orders. This could be because their systems suspected the customer details to be fraudulent, or their systems thought the customer did not pass the 3-D Secure check (even though the customer actually passed the check), or their systems were not coping with the avalanche of transactions or some other reason.

I do not think there would be any known workaround except to keep trying.

  • Can refund for purchases be credited back to the ultimate card? I bought something from cotton on and some items were out of stock so they would refund it. From what I saw on ultimate website (#22 here: https://gift.ultimategiftcards.com.au/faqs/) purchases can not be refunded to the card, but they do provide a pin number that is for refunds right?

    • You have provided a link to the website for the eftpos version for Ultimate gift cards. That FAQ you saw is only correct for the eftpos version.

If you look at the FAQs for the Visa version of Ultimate gift cards, it says:

WHAT HAPPENS IF AN ITEM WAS PURCHASED WITH THE ULTIMATE GIFT CARD AND NEEDS TO BE RETURNED?

Any refunds on Card transactions are subject to the policy of the specific merchant. Refunds may be in the form of a credit to the Card, cash refund or in-store credit. If the Card expires or is revoked before you have spent any funds resulting from a refund (whether or not the original transaction being refunded was made using the Card) then you will have no access to those funds.

Me and a few other people have had refunds processed onto the Visa version of Ultimate gift cards in the past, so I do not see any issue with Cotton On processing the refund back onto a Visa version of the Ultimate gift card.

still havent gotten my call back from JBHIFI for the iphone pre order, in 5 days its gonna be 1 month since pre order date.

    • Apple has them in stock for pick up now.

      • 15 pro max, they got that in stock too? if thats true than idk wth jbhifi is doing. waiting a whole month for a pre order

        • Reserved and picked up one from Apple Sydney on Saturday. 15 Pro Max 256 Gb black. Check availability online first and reserve.

          • @nosrad: but how can i do that, my order is placed with Jbhifi using these coupons, how can i reserve and pick up from apple

            • @Roe Jogan: I canceled my pre-order and bought Apple Gift Cards instead.

              • @nosrad: Do Jb Hifi have apple gcs available in store now? I am in Sydney and whichever store I call suggests that they don't have apple gift cards in stock.

                • @dcool75: JB at North Sydney has heaps behind the counter, but they aren’t selling any, saying that there is widespread scamming. Surely that can’t be all of us with the gift cards?

              • @nosrad: how easy is that to do? can it be done online?

  • Used my Ultimate gcs to buy the iPhone from OW. Nice 15% discount stacked with flybuys dollars. Effectively got a $1k discount.

For ref, OW don’t normally allow stacking gcs with flybuys dollars but Ultimate gcs are recognised by the system as just prepaid credit cards so the restriction wasn’t triggered. Win

    • how to stack with flybuys dollars?

      • +1

Earn flybuys first. Get enough points to convert them to flybuys dollars. Then use as one payment method like a normal debit card using your flybuys card. Use other bank card or prepaid cards for balance.

  • Time to reload Timezone $ online via the fun app, but Ultimate teens failed to perform. LOL.
    Please try again

  • How did I miss this deal… How.. i open OzB once everyday…

    • you need to open every hour
