Does anyone know if JB can put your name on the receipt for an iPhone 15 Pro? Stacking these (15%) with the extra TRS (10%) GST back is my intention.

    • They can provide you with a tax invoice.

  • I can't seem to be able to add it to uber/ubereats payment methods, anyone else having this problem?

    • +3

You have to exchange it I believe

    • +2

      That is to be expected.

If you look at the Ultimate Him gift card webpage on the Ultimate gift card website (which is the source of truth for where and how you use an Ultimate gift card), Uber and Uber Eats are only listed under the Exchange for eGift redemption option.

In other words, you need to go to the Ultimate gift card exchange portal (and the link to this can also be found on the Ultimate gift card website), enter your Ultimate Him gift card's details on the login page, then choose Uber (or Uber Eats). You will need to provide an email address during the exchange process, then you will have an Uber (or Uber Eats) gift card emailed to you that you can add to your Uber / Uber Eats wallet.

        Didn't find that, thanks

    Long-time lurker, first-time poster.

I signed up just to say a massive THANKS to @BargainsGrabber and everyone else who patiently helped out the rest of us first-timers (with gift card schemes). THANKS!

Thanks to several posts explaining reasonably clearly (always hard without screenshots) what we had to do in several scenarios.

I ended up being confident enough to get 4x$500 Ultimate Home GC's ($2000), at about 2 am last night, for $1700. Everything so far very smooth, and I'm glad I read so much before trying myself, as if I got to the stage where something was not working, I would have been super stressed about whether my money was gone/double charged/etc.

    • Major bank Debit Card, late at night when the site wasn't getting pumped, 1st payment attempt, $2000 in one hit, all good, receipt in about 1 minute, 4 separate emails with the cards in about 8 mins. MASSIVE RELIEF.

    • Very old iPhone (7 years old now, all day, every day use), added each UH GC patiently, one by one to Apple wallet, all added fine. MASSIVE RELIEF.

    So, thanks again!

    • Wow 2k.. and i was trying to get 1x$100 for buying uber eat and failed lol..

      • +1

This is my second batch, I think I have $5k worth of these now AND $2500 of Apple (maybe $3k? not sure)

        Gotta spend it all.

        • +3

          Amazing.. congratulations

    • The main plan was to get a new iPhone 15 (long-awaited upgrade, from a 7!), and I'm just not sure about the model still, so I got $2000 worth, to cover a few options.

      • I think the iPhone 15 Pro Max is just a bit too much money, and not sure about extra size in pocket. Plus, tried to get an extra $100/$200 UC GC after work today… 5:01pm… no discount showing (adios amigo!).

      • So, either, iPhone 15 Pro, 256gb - $2,049 (x 0.85 = $1,741.65), and have to just add $49. And I have a $100 Apple GC somewhere to get a case/screen protector from Apple store.

      • Or, iPhone 15 Pro, 128gb - $1,849 (x 0.85 = $1,571.65), and have $151 GC credit left for … ? … more choice on cases etc at JB?

      • iPhone 15 (non Pro), 128gb - $1,499 (x 0.85 = $ 1,274.15), and have $501 GC credit left for … ? I'm just not sure about the longevity on the lower model, USB-2 transfer speeds, and a couple of camera and other things. But hey, I've been putting up with an iPhone 7! Hahaha.

Another part of me feels like I should be getting something "better than just a phone" with $2k. Like one of the DJI Fly More drone kits etc. Hmmm.

Any feedback from any early iPhone purchasers here?

JB vs Good Guys? Is Good Guys as 'hit and miss' as Officeworks to buy in store (using UC GC on Apple wallet)? JB seems safest, but GG have $100 credit?

Massive thanks to all. Enjoy your 15% off things!

      • +2

Apple will give you $55 for tradein on the 7, Gumtree will give you anywhere from $70 to $150 at best.

Don't buy the non pro, the titanium weighs less, the cameras are mind blowing.

        • Cheers for the iPhone feedback Ham!

iPhone 7 has a crack from the lower left corner (and has charging/charge port issues, they might not notice), but with a crack in the screen, I don't think I can get jack for the trade-in, unfortunately. So it'll probably be a spare/house phone for Chromecast/Spotify for anyone to use.

I also looked at the $650/$1000 off deals for going with Vodafone in-store at Apple store… but I've been with them (V) for years, and looking for a change (might try Telstra pre-paid for a bit, via Boost or Belong?). And also the best of the 3 deals is for 'new' customers only.

  • Anyone having issue adding to Apple wallet? I tried several times, come up with the error “invalid card detail” wtf, same thing happen when tried to add restaurant choice gift card too.

    • I do have this issue after adding about 6 gift cards, it's been a few days and I still getting the error, however I have an old Iphone 6 lying around and was able to add 10+ cards so far on that iphone 6

      • I don’t think thats the problem I’m having, I can add other gift card, but for blackhawk network card ie ultimate and restaurant choice, they all having error..no sure how to fix atm..

        • Same with me. I have 4 x $500 cards. Could add one, can’t add the other 3. Raised a ticket and still waiting for a response.

Just wanted to thank @BargainsGrabber and everyone on this thread. This was an insane deal!
    Love OZBargain Community!
    Cheers!

    • +1

      Indeed! Thanks @BargainsGrabber.

  • Purchased the card and added to my digital wallet. Do I need to activate it? It does not work with Apple Pay on iPhone for valid merchants payment page (say Uber Eats)

    • Did you check the Ultimate gift card website to see how participating retailers accept Ultimate gift cards?

The Ultimate gift card website says are three different ways participating retailers accept Ultimate gift cards:

      • Instore
      • Online
      • Exchange for eGift

For Uber Eats (and Uber), the only listed redemption option is Exchange for eGift, which means attempting to link an Ultimate gift card to your Uber Eats account should fail, and trying to use an Ultimate gift card via Apple Pay on Uber Eats should also fail. In terms of how Uber Eats accepts Ultimate gift cards, I talk about this in more detail a little further up.

      • Thanks for directing me to the instructions, it helps. Just wondering if partial payments can be done on redemption of ultimate gift cards for eGiftCardExchange?

  • Am I the only person who struggle to register gift card on my apple wallet?

    • same here, I cannnot add them to my apple wallet, come up with invalid card…

      • same :9

    • Are you adding the details manually?

Don't take a photo of the card, as it automatically grabs the "PCN" (which gives an error).

Manually add the GC details, entering the "Card" number, and the "CVV" as "Security".

      • yeah I did manually but it keep saying contact to card customer service centre :0

I think we are able to swap JB HI-FI Gift card with "Exchange for eGift" on ultimate website now.

    • Yeah, I swapped some this morning.

      • +1

Now I have eight Cancelled Transaction for gift card purchases in my jb account for nothing.

        • +2

The 15% off came at a price lol, can’t have everything in life…

      • Is this a normal JB Hi-Fi gift card you were able to swap? Or is this from the Ultimate cards/network only?

    • Can you tell me more? Are you saying you can change the ultimate card to a jb e-gift card?
      Is it an easy process?

      • Go to www.ultimategiftcards.com.au

Click "EXCHANGE FOR EGIFT" at the top

        Enter your card details

You will be able to see available brands to exchange

Mine is Ultimate Home, I see Ikea, JB-Hifi and others

        • I exchanged my ultimate home card to a jb hifi card and the check balance says it’s there but when on jb site it’s not letting me use it anyone have this issue?

  • +1

Went to 3 jbs and all sold out on apple gift cards. Wanted to get iphone at apple store now im stuffed lol

Great i think I outsmarted myself now I'm stuck with $1000 giftcards.

    • Did you ask them about when would they have more Apple gift cards available for sale?

    • +2

Just go back next week? They're not sold out forever lol

      • +1

I got a apple iphone on reserve tomorrow morning… didnt realise they be all gone tonight

    • Since most JBs are sold out of Apple gift cards - anyone know (or tried) if it's possible to grab the Apple gift cards let's say from Coles/Woolies (unpurchased), then bring it to JB to purchase/activate? Or would the Apple gift cards be allocated to specific retailers?

      • +4

Can you even do that? That feels like stealing.

      • Come on, have some respect for yourself.
Work a little harder if you have to,
🤦🏻‍♂️ Imagine doing all of that for a little extra $$

      • Or would the Apple gift cards be allocated to specific retailers?

I guess you could try, and find out the hard way that the serial numbers are tracked by certain retailers.

        • Well, not really

The gift card vendors just come and stock these cards randomly. They aren’t really tracked like we would expect them to be.

It’s entirely possible that one could nick a few gift cards from WW to pay for and activate them at a JB.

          • +1

            @Gervais fanboy:

It’s entirely possible that one could nick a few gift cards from WW to pay for and activate them at a JB.

Cool. I dare you to try paying for a variable load ($500) Apple GC at JB Hi-Fi (obtained elsewhere).

            • @DoctorCalculon: Well, I am not going to do anything like that. Especially not over a ‘I dare you’ challenge on Ozbargain lol.
We’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one?
Hey, maybe the gift cards vendors have recently changed their whole gift card distribution setup and yeah, you could be 100% right.

    • @richmond where are you? Ill pay sale price for 1 of the jb cards

      • Melb. Ended up finding a jb that had some last minute but still have $500 left on ultimate gc home. Not sure what to do with it lol

        • Sell it, lol. Hell, I’ll take it 🤣

  • Are you guys able to pay through a gift card online ? I tried not working for me

  • -3

Hi @ Gervais fanboy Where can I use Promo code “Please” on the web site , thanks

  • +1

    Missed out :(

  • still waiting on my iPhone pro max 256gb to come in stock, i ordered on 21st at jbhifi, they said mid nov :/
and if i want to change the colour selection (ordered black) my position will reset in the que

  • Just order your apple stuff at JB guys, they may stop doing promos like this because of the apple gift card shenanigans.

  • -1

I know it’s expired but can you use these cards online with jb?

    • +2

Yes, but you can only use one UGC per transaction at JB online, since they essentially function like a prepaid credit card.

If you want to use more than one, e.g. for transactions greater than $500, you first need to convert them to JB gift cards either by buying them from JB online (1 per transaction, maximum 2 transactions per day) or exchange them via the UGC website. That’s what I did to make a $1000+ purchase yesterday, used 3 x $500 UGC to buy 3 JB GC (already had converted 2 of them earlier in the week) and then applied the 3 JB GC for my purchase (with a residual amount still available on one of the JB GC).

When the stars align, these UGC discount offers can really boost your savings: I bought an already discounted Surface laptop on my Wishlist by stacking the JB 10% off storewide AFTERDARKSEPT23 coupon (expires 8am AEST today) and using the 15% discounted UGC/JB GC to get a 38% discount off RRP overall. I was originally hoping for a good Black Friday deal but luckily didn’t have to wait that long for a decent enough price.

  • anyone else can't get on the exchange site? Privacy error

  • Has anyone here tried to purchase something from jbcommerical? Curious to know if my Ultimate GC will work there. Many thanks in advance!

  • +1

Looks like apple gift cards are wiped out across JB in Sydney. Anyone have any luck buying apple gift cards with Apple Pay or google pay at TGG? Officeworks didn’t work unfortunately.

    • What stores did you try?

      • +1

Miranda, Roselands, Caringbah and Eastgardens so far

  • Hi guys, I went to Jb to swap the UC for Apple gift cards. I did not mention, I have an UC. I picked up $200 X 2 and $100 X 1.The counter chick told me, there is a limit for gift cards and you can buy only one $200.

I bought one. Easy transaction. On my way back, dropped into another JB store, got told the same thing. Got another $200.
    Nice pain.

Any tips to get more Apple GC from JB? Or just keep going everyday.

    • Mostly depending on the staff who serve you. A girl i met imposed a $1k limit PER customer on me. Even when i came back later, she didn't let me buy more. Another girl let me buy $1k and told me to do it again 15mins later. Same store.

  • Does anyone else using Bankwest have this REPEATEDLY FAIL when trying to do it?

Yeah I know it's expired, but next time I wanna catch it on both my cards!

It's very annoying, I have to resort to my AMEX

    • bankwest alg, they only stop me for crypto purchases even after i validate with sms

  • +3

Just a recap to say it all worked, and thanks again to all the helpers!

Went in to JB Hifi this arv, picked out a new iPhone 15 Pro, and told them at the counter that I'd like to split the payments, they asked "with what", and I just said "Gift cards, but they are Visa, so don't set them up as gift cards, and I've already added them to my Apple wallet, and they'll be charged $500 each" etc. Then I just tapped the 4 x UH GC's, one at a time, for $500 each, and then paid the remaining $100-ish on my physical debit card. All done, iPhone, case, and receipt handed to me.

Everything went smoothly for me, but mostly due to the continually refined instructions by the community here.

    Massive thanks again.

    • Any reason why buying from JB rather than Apple direct?

Just because you didn't get Apple cards. I'm just wondering if it's cheaper at JB?

        1. It seemed like a bit of an extra and reasonably unnecessary stuff-around… to go to JB… to then see how many $200 Apple cards I could get, then if not enough (looking for 10) go to another JB, then maybe another (!), then once had all 10 x $200 Apple cards, have to add them all to my Apple Pay/Account (because can't use more than 7/8 in Apple store), then physically go to Apple store and see if they even have any stock or not (see below), and when no stock of any iPhone 15 Pro's at all… then wait several weeks and hope it all works out that you eventually get a phone…
          …Vs…
Go to JB… get the iPhone in my hands, today, in less than 10 mins in-store (just 1 store too).

        2. Apple store near me had no stock of iPhones, and definitely not any of the models I wanted anyway (JB was right away, today).

        • Which Jb had stock? None of the stores I went to had stock…

          • @nosrad: 3 stores in the Newcastle area, showing stock of different models at different stores most of this week, I was mostly checking on iPhone 15 Pro (128gb + 256gb, Black + Blue). I was told I got the last Black one in 256gb at Kotara Homemaker store.

      • Aren't you limited to 8 gift cards with Apple? In other words, you will be able to spend only $1600 if you buy cards at JB Hi-Fi.

        • Yes, that's why I mentioned that the only workaround that I heard of, was to add all of your Apple gift cards (10x) to Apple Pay (not Apple Wallet), and "apparently" the Apple store will/might accept payment this way.

Too many "might work/might not" scenarios for me overall. I didn't want to get stuck with a heap of Apple cards that wouldn't all be accepted by Apple, but then also not accepted anymore by JB.

  • -3

Is there anyway to convert these to eBay?

  • +1

I bought $2300 worth. Is it safe to just keep them as they are while I wait for something to buy? Is there a chance they'll be hacked online or something? What's the safest way to store them? I'm thinking a physical JBHIFI card but I kind of want to purchase the new iphone from office works for flybyes and best price. Any advice would be appreciated :)

    • Does it make sense to limit yourself to Officeworks? $2300 is 2300 Flybuys points, which is roughly $10. It's better than nothing, but I would rather buy now than wait.

      • True. x5 though for having one pass so it's like $50. I'd assume office works would restock the same time places like JB do

        • Fair enough, can’t you just place a preorder at Officeworks now and collect points?

    • i also want to know the answer to this question…
      - do i leave the card unactivated in email?
      - do i activate it and link it to my phone?
      - do i use it to buy a physcial store giftcard?

  • Anyone have luck finding apple gift cards at jbhifi in sydney?

    • Not me. Keen to know if you find a jb hifi selling those.

  • Just tried my Ultimate Him card on Uber Eats but it does not work. Anyone have any ideas?

    • I tried it yesterday, worked for me

    • +1

Which of these are you trying to do?

      • Are you trying to use your Ultimate Him gift card directly on Uber Eats?

      • Are you attempting to exchange the Ultimate Him gift card for an Uber Eats gift card through the Ultimate gift card exchange portal and are unable to see Uber nor Uber Eats on the gift card portal?

      • Directly on ubereats. Let me try exchanging it. :) thanks!

        • I would have been surprised if it directly worked on Uber and Uber Eats, because I have only ever seen Ultimate gift cards listing Uber and Uber Eats against the Exchange for eGift redemption option on the Ultimate gift card website.

If Uber and Uber Eats directly accepted Ultimate gift cards, it should have been listed against the Online redemption option, but it is not (and I am fairly sure it has never been).

          • @WookieMonster: Wookie, sorry to bug you, I messaged about payments for these? A lot of us had issues where it won't process.

Both times with this I've HAD to use my AMEX or it just won't work, period.

Any idea what the deal is? Know of a workaround?

            • @hamwhisperer: I am entirely not sure what was going on during this deal.

Based off the multitude of comments through this deal, it sounded like it could have been one or both of the following:

              • Card issuers declining payments, whether it is due to suspected fraud or the purchase appearing to be a cash advance or some other reason.

              • Giftcards.com.au refusing to process orders. This could be because their systems suspected the customer details to be fraudulent, or their systems thought the customer did not pass the 3-D Secure check (even though the customer actually passed the check), or their systems were not coping with the avalanche of transactions or some other reason.

I do not think there would be any known workaround except to keep trying.
