so if stay on 100/20M for 3 month, then monthly fee is 79-150/3=29
    pretty good deal

    • Plus credit checks and iD back up

    • +$90/3 TopCashback = $1 "profit"/mth :)

      • -1

After clicking the Topcashback link, how do you find the Flybuys deals on the Optus page?Or do you simply paste the direct link into browser? I thought that would have disassociated the cookie and therefore lose the TC rebate.

        • May I ask if you succeeded with both offers?

    • Are you saying 30,000 Flybuys points are worth $150?

      • +1

        30000 / 2000 * 10

        • =$150

    • free ID in 6 months
  • Anyone know if changing over from a grandfathered plan (50/20mbps from FY19) to one of these plans counts as a "new service"?

  • Can anyone share their experience with Optus?
Any penalty if changing plan after 6 months?

    • Yes penalty is they leak your personal info.

    • if your already on a good plan it might be hard to find another one when you leave optus. plus optus can go take a hike after last year in my opinion

    • I signed up for this same offer a 5 or 6 months back. No issues at all with the internet, I had to follow up with flybuys to get the points but I got em.

No penalties because your not on a contract but I wouldn't switch or leave until you see the points in your account.

  • Does anyone still care about Optus hacks anymore? Or no worries she’ll be right…

  • FYI, if you are thinking of churning to optus do it at least a week before. I churned to them for the last flybuys offer 3 days beforehand and due to their antiquated processes they only completed my churn 1 day into my new billing period. So ended up having to pay for a extra month with my old provider as well as the month with optus.

    • Just call them and nag them for a credit to your account because of the issue. They usually are good about this stuff to be fair.

I've been with Optus for a verrryyyy long time (20yrs +) and finally bit the bullet this week to change my bundle again - get rid of the landline, get rid of Fetch and up the speed from 50/20 to 100/20 -so I ended up with the 100/20 from the posted deal and they also gave me a $10/month 'loyalty' discount for 12 months (on top) and told me to call back at the end of that to see 'what else they could do'
Even though they have all my id/credit stuff this current process was treated like a new sign up, had to repeatedly give my license and medicare details and redo the direct debit - 2 phone calls, it took an hour and then 1.5 hours yesterday to complete. (all done and new modem on the way)

TBH - I knew what I was in for - the guy was great, not his fault their scripting and back end systems are still garbage.

I avoid any telco interaction as much as possible, it makes my toes cramp just thinking about it, I usually just put it off as much as possible until unavoidable. (but never had a problem with optus service when I needed it)

  • Did this in the past and worked well. Do we know if the “new customer” thing resets every x years?

    • Seem to be available…. I just quit the last promo 7 weeks ago. Will give it a shot

  • All I want is ongoing $90 250mbps :( hopping is annoying.

  • Bye Bye Origin. Just signed up. Thanks op.

Can you pick a date that you connect/move over?

    • Also wanting to know!

      • +1

Signed up. You can't pick a date unfortunately.

Was also a pain to switchover, not as straightforward as what you would expect with other providers.
        1. You submit a request online.
        2. WIthin 2 business days you get a call from an 02 number that requests your ID and OTP to "validate" your Optus account. Your account is then 'active' and order is 'processed'
        3. You then have to call a 1300 number to request activation/transfer of your service to Optus within 24 hours and the activation cannot be done until at least 1 business day after.
        4. At midnight of the day of activation, you'll be disconnected and need to reconnect to Optus (note: Optus provides very limited support with this if you BYO - so be prepared)

Without any deals, I would not switch over to Optus as it is a PITA.

        • Did they allow for you to request a date when they called to process the order?

  • Does the Optus residential NBN offer a non-CGNAT IP address? A public routable IP is required for a home server environment.

  • Optus has very slow download from some sites and it's not my line at all it an optus issues

  • Does anybody know if you can forward date your connection when signing up? I’m hesitant to fill out the order form as I’m at the start of billing period for my current provider

Legit the worst sign up process ever

  • Thanks for all the comment about the signup process. I went through the similar the other day (1 hour on the chat) to activate a $2 SIM card. Never again.
