Cracking price in Business Class on Virgin Australia to Japan, get those Velocity points as well. Dates are from April to August, so the early dates include some of the cherry blossom season.

Note, however, if you prefer a top tier airline, you can also fly ANA Business from Sydney direct for less than $3k.

        The 737 business seat on both Qantas and Virgin is quite good for short flights, arguably better than a lie flat when you're on a short day flight and wont sleep. But its limit really is upto about 4 hours max, 10 hours is too much, especially when there have been deals with lie flat seats for only a few hundred more.

    Few things to point out: It is a stopover in Cairns for 2 to 3 hours to and back. If I recalled, there is no Virgin lounge in Cairns. I don't think Virgin has a lounge in Tokyo also.

    737 short haul recliner with a stopover in CNS, 1000% not a deal

    The $2800 SYD-HND ANA deal posted this week is a gazillion times better.

    Or MEL-NAN-NRT for $2600 in biz with Fiji airways, stopovers allowed although it's angled flat on the NAN-NRT leg

    Or one-way NRT/HND/KIX-MEL/SYD/BNE/ADL in biz with Singapore for ~$1600

    Or etc etc

    Only worth it from BNE where it's Jetstar or Qantas only, and becuae it gets you the 4 flights for Gold, because you're getting all the Status Credits on Singapore Airlines trips.
