Roccat Magma Membrane RGB Keyboard $49 ($39 with Perks Coupon) + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

First time I have seen JBHIFI with a somewhat decent deal. You can probably use the $10 coupon to reduce the price even more.

  • Interesting to see this selling for more than a budget mechanical board.

Anyone know what it feels like- is it better than the cheapo membrane boards bundled with PCs?

      Nah

Used to use one of those Logitech G 'MeMcHaNiCaL' keyboards and was really just better off using an actual mechanical board… considering how much I paid for it.

AliExpress has plenty of mechanical keyboards at this price, I'd rather those than this.

      • I am looking for wireless keyboard and mouse for Mac mini which do you recommend? Been searching a lot

      • To be fair, some of the best keyboards are membrane (e.g. Realforce).

        • Fair, but at this price point I'd argue $50 mechanical keyboard > $50 membrane keyboard

Can definitely be argued otherwise when we reach the membrane or mechanical keyboards that are in the high $$$ range, but at the end of the day it's all personal preference. You use what feels best to you.

            @CrispyChrispy:

Fair, but at this price point I'd argue $50 mechanical keyboard > $50 membrane keyboard

You're almost certainly correct on this, but I'd love more good membrane options to exist. Roccat is one of the better peripheral companies imo, so maybe their membrane keyboards don't suck. Would like to hear from anyone who's tried one of these.

I've got both a Topre Realforce board, and a Topre clone which was a lot cheaper and still remarkably good for build quality and smoothness (but isn't quite to my taste).

I also have MX boards with various switches, they're also good but I have some issues with the fundamental design ideas behind MX switches.

        • To be fair to mechanical keyboards, those realforce keyboards look like niche market trash.

          • @Budju: I take it you've never tried one then.

Or have much experience with keyboards in general.

Also, the entire concept of mechanical keyboards is already niche, so you seem to be missing a point or two here in a sad attempt to wind up.

            • @rumblytangara: I watched a positive review video about a $300 USD membrane keyboard and was left flabbergasted anyone would be stupid enough to buy one. What am I missing?

P.S. mechanical keyboards are not niche these days.

The $50 boards on AliExpress aren't great.

On the other hand, we're comparing it to a Roccat membrane.

I think if you push the budget out to $100, one could build something that you wouldn't be ashamed to let other people see.

        • I myself have custom kb with holypanda and boba u4t switches. Honestly compared to other “gaming” membrane keyboards it’s a ok price. There can definitely be some decent mech keyboards for around 50 but the overall build quality, etc may be lower quality.

      Obviously doesn't get out much!

  • +2

    Not a deal IMO

    Paying this much for membrane..

    • +6

      Insane for the membrane

    • -1

not paying for membrane but the rgb that will blind you at night 😂

  • A fully RGBified top plate… wowsers

    • -2

Honestly I always price match at JBHIFI because they prices are so marked up compared to other companies

  • Does it having usb 2.0 for the connection matter much?

    • It's a keyboard, not an external SSD.

So no, it doesn't matter at all.
