    • Its 120hz according to TCL website

      • +2

120 hz only if you play 1080 or 1440, otherwise 60hz native.

I guess this tv would still be much better than my 10 year old I have now.

        • Yeah probably watching FTA sports won't be great. Let us know.

        • what console games do 4k/120?

    • According to specs on TCL website:

      HDMI 2.1 & HDCP 2.2
      Dolby vision
      120 Hz
      5 Star energy

What else do you expect from 85" TV worth just over 1 grand??

      • +2

that's 120 Hz DLG, not real 120 Hz.

        • Would love to know the difference because I hate 60 Hz panels with a passion.. lol

      • No mention of energy consumption… Hate that..
Apparently we are in a fincially tight time..but dont worry about the running costs. An 85 would need to be 6 star for me.

        • 732 kWh (as per TCL brochure)

          • @npnp: Thanks.

I think this works out to around 200 watts. Dont know why they cant just show watts.

Pretty good for its size. But compared to my old 47" (42 watts) ..well 5 times as much. Think i'll stick with a 65 around the 100 watt mark.

  • -3

    One thing with TVs.

    Quality > Size.

I'd rather have a quality 55inch TV that looks good, than a 85inch edge lit, rubbish panel.

    • +6

      Cannot agree

      85" makes a 55" look tiny.

A quality 75" over a much lesser 85" OK, but 55" to 85" there is no comparison

      • +2

I’m going to wait and go all out for a 75-80” OLED when a good deal comes. I’ll be stuck regretting it for years if I don’t

        • +2

This is the way. LG G3 only.

        • Black Friday is the sale you should wait for

        • I picked up an LG C3 77inch for 4800 a couple weeks back from appliance central. Not exactly a bargain, but if you spread the cost out over the lifetime of ownership, it hardly makes a if you saved a couple hundred on the initial cost or not. Amazing picture, highly recommend.

          • @jack0: So you paid over 4x more for an 8 inch smaller screen….

            For 4800 I'd rather a 98" or 100" Hisense/Samsung QLED

            • +1

@TheCandyMan2020: @TheCandyMan2020 I'd pay 10x more if it gets me an LG over TCL. To each their own I suppose.

        • My understanding is the tech in the 77" models exceeds the 83" at the moment, you want next years or newer again.

Also, sadly QD-OLED is a burn in nightmare fizzle, avoid the thing.

    • I take 85

    • Not for everyone. For some people size becomes priority once the picture quality is good enough for them.

I'd personally take a 65 inch OLED over a 85 jncb LCD any day (unless it's a fancy dual layer one). I upgraded from a 55 inch oled to a 65 inch one. I'm sure I'll notice it if I go back to 55".

    • +1

      This.

F*king love watching cam rips on my 55" C3. Blacks really pop out… It's like I'm really in the theatre

    • Meh. Even cheap tvs have better wuality than mid range tvs a decade ago. I always recommend getting real hdr, but at this size i think it’s be a toss up. You aren’t going to get a micro led at any size at this price. Even zoned backlighting is kinda rare.

  • JB have blocked the leading edge website from being accessed via their store computers.

Confirmed by phone chat and Cranbourne store….

    How rude.

    • I chatted this morning, they can open it using their phone but not JB computers. I reckon Leading edge is blocking competitors so they dont price match.

JB rep can only do 1390.

      • Including delivery?? If not, go with LE and don't stress

        • They said $120 delivery for me. I'm regional.

Can't pickup in any store they said they don't hold stock of that size.

        • Didn't check as wasn't interested in $1390, was trying to get JB to match because I suspect this is a price error ends up in cancellation tomorrow. I have a feeling LE got the price swapped between 75 & the 85".

    • Ah how do you block a customer walking in with a mobile? Anyway JB just can't price match heh

      • They can't. They block the url on all internal computers on the network. JB need to be able to visit the site themselves to verify.

        • So if you got it on your mobile it doesn't count it has to be on their own computers… So blocking it means they can't access and hence cannot price match what an arse

          • +1

@neonlight: Exactly. The rep said it's not the only site either. Pretty dodgy.

            • @XXRydeR: Very dodgy so that's actually anti competitive. Not sure where they stand on consumer laws. Feels like Qantas vs Qatar

  • I have been using the 50" version of this and have been surprised by the OS and picture quality. Definitely a noticeable difference between this and my LG 65C2, but it's not horrible.

The apps are a little slower to load compared to my Firestick 4K Max but still usable. I don't use any voice commands so am unsure how well they work.

Can't comment on the 120Hz DLG as only the 55"+ have this feature. There is a game mode which feels more like a gimmick as I haven't noticed any difference with this turned on/off when playing on a Series X.

If you can afford it, get an OLED. However if you're looking for a cheap TV, this is a steal!

  • +1

Isnt P series pretty rubbish? Whats the point of 85 inch of rubbish picture quality?

    • +1

Picture quality is pretty good for the price. It's the os that is lil sluggish, but you can solve by firetv, googletv etc..

      • What about sport or fast moving objects, how have you found the quality? Obviously not using the TV's own OS for the apps.

        • +1

          P series is jittery

        • +1

It does have sports mode, game mode etc.. when I was watching K-pop music videos, had no problems.

  • I so want this bad boy, but no chance it will fit up my stairwell (units) & i'm facing a main road, so the balcony option is sketchy at best..

    Damn..

    • YOLO - make it fit for this price!

    • You can remove the box and then move, but also some risk damaging it.

      • yeah, i downloaded the specs & measured, there's 1 tight turn in the stairs where the handrail & stairs above makes it difficult, id have to lay the panel flat to have a chance & thats where it gets dicey..

        • +1

85 is big, at this price + cashback.. but I am waiting for the miniled sale.

        • +1

          Maybe if you pivot?

    • YOLO! these dimensions - make it work and be a true ozbargainer!!

      https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/118285/106903/71frpmeu…

    • Trigger pulled..

FOMO got me.. The Ozbargain way, BNTL..

  • +2

The only problem is they only take cards no other payment option and never heard of this site no physical stores either…What if anything goes wrong maybe a big disaster

    • +3

      Credit card chargeback?

      • they link from TCL's website and the ABN has been active for a long time, it's not a pop up overnight business. They may just be new to eComm and are trying to get their name out there.

Had a look, they also link from Electrolux, Ninja and some other websites so they are definitely legit otherwise the brands wouldn't trust them and link through.

      If you're concerned, don't buy it :)

      • Harvey Norman said Leading edge is not considered a "leading" retailer so won't match because of that.

    • +2

In a world of scams, I understand the concern but this isn't one of them… you just need to work out if you're happy with the price for an 85" and if you're also happy to use a FireTV or similar device to control all your apps, if so, don't sleep on this deal.

      • +1

I'm going to bet their website doesn't update stock in real time, so 11,299,900 out of the 11,300,000 Ozbargain orders placed today will wind up getting cancelled tomorrow. I just can't be bothered dealing with that ####.

  • Thanks, order placed :)

  • +1

I bought the new fire Tv 4k max. The previous 4k max gen 1 was slower. The extra storage is very nice to have. I think it would go great with this tv

    • Have you setup Kodi, any difference or issues with the 2nd gen for add on apps?

      • Sorry I haven't tried to use Kodi at all. Only Netflix and streaming. You might have to wait for someone else to chime in regarding this.

  • -1

    This or 65S95B for $1,439?

    • Samsung you would expect to be a better TV with nicer OS, a negative would be the smaller screen size if it's a deal breaker for you… Is Samsung still 1 year warranty?? If so, that's not peace of mind. And no dolby vision.. hmm.

    • +1

OOS can't get them anymore. S95b is 65inch, is a good size, and the quality is awesome. I will get Samsung, if I can get it at that price.

  • +1

    $2467 for me - OOS?

    • $1197 still for me?

  • +2

I pulled the trigger on this. I was looking for a TV for up to $2k and also have a large wall to mount it to.
I usually research the crap out of every purchase I make which can some times result in missing a deal.
At this price point for an 85 inch tv, I just had to go for it. Was it a good decision? Time will tell!

    • It's freaking good price for 85inch. +cashback on top.

      • But I am waiting for the 75or85 miniled sale.

  • Purchased also.
For $1197 before cash back for 85" seems to good to miss.

  • Thanks OP pulled the trigger, hope they honour this price.

  • +2

Got it successfully price matched at Jb hi fi.
Live chat said they couldn't access link offered $1600
Called the sales team, said they couldn't access the link offered $1400
Called JB hi Fi Liverpool said they couldn't match it because store is online only and can't pick up from store. I mentioned there's a store in chatswood. Said still can't be done. I asked what's the best price they can offer. They transferred me to the sales team. Sales member asked where I was trying to price match from, told them and told them the previous guy had said no because there isn't a physical store to pickup from but there is (I assume because living edge has a store finder). Lady said yep they can match it. Pretty stoked it worked out in the end!

    • TGG,JB,HN,Binglee none of them will price match it,Ive tried but didn't push as hard as you did. This sale price are below the wholesale price they said.

    • -1

      Sunday afternoon well spent~!

    • Also had a mix of 15% and 4% off JB gift cards, used a $10 perks member code, and JB website says they give you a $100 jb giftcard buying the TV plus 6 months kayo. Adding the $100 tcl cash back it comes out to a pretty sweet deal. Comes out to be around $850 if you value the kayo at $50. Even though kayo is like $30 per month

      • Do you have to pay shipping ? Jb is not the participant store so you won’t get the TCL Cashback. But it’s good they give you the jb gift card. I picked up in store and they price match it with shipping fee and won’t give me the JB gift card

        • Yep I had to pay shipping. Oh bummer I didn't know they weren't a participant store! Also I just assumed I'd just the giftcard given it says so online. Not sure if price match deals are exempt…

          • @billybrown: You should be fine as I called the support team they said Price match will still get the JB gift card, you should receive it within the next 2 weeks. There is no term and condition saying price match will forfeit the gift card. I have lodged complaint about the store refusing the gift card hopefully they will compensate me one. Even though JB is not the participant store can still try to lodge it on TCL website and see how it goes..

            • @ozvictor: @ozvictor yep I couldn't see any T&Cs on the jbhifi website saying a price match is excluded from the offer.

Also I can't see where jbhifi is excluded on the TCL cash back either.

    • Any chance of posting a receipt?

  • I don't want to change TV cabinet for this. Hence no go. Plus not sure quality ones with middle stand is better like the LG ones

    • +1

Didn't know people still had tv cabinets. Most people I know mount them on the wall.

      • -1

Mounting on wall… When TVs change your mount might not be compatible. Leavings hole on the wall or patching up will never be as nice. Also some are not possible with soild brick wall, gyrock might not be thick enough for brick veneer. Mounting by professional that's a cost. DIY is not so good unless you are really good at it.

LG OLED has the best stand I would get that rather. The four leg corners ones are horrible

  • Thanks OP… Pulled the trigger as well… hope the store doesn't go bankrupt tomorrow and all money collected from today will be forfeited….

  • This or c845

    • Yes, I am waiting for the C845 sale as well, preferably 75inch or 85inch.

    • C845 but not at this price for mini led

  • must be $2197 and a price error in this case. my 65' still work with no issue. hard to resist.

  • +9

Mod: OP is associated with Leading Edge, but did not declare it initially.

    Then isn't it sockpuppeting? 🤔

    • +2

How did they even discover this

    • +1

it is, but we now know this is not a price error

      • We now know this is not a price error but may a scam

        • -1

IMO there is no way this is a scam…
and now that little bit of doubt :) if it is, it's by far the best executed retail scam yet and will become the benchmark for the OzBargain community on how not to throw your money away.

        • They are noted on the TCL website under where to buy on multiple models
since they could offer such a low price, they may be directly backed by TCL

          • @excite: I dont think this will be the case as big4 can not price match and if they are legit why afraid to show association? Also they seems have unlimited stock with one choice of payment.
Even they send out the TVs for the price with free shipping, you dont know they are grey imported,2nd hand, renewed or brand new,not to mention there like 99% no aftermarket support
And my guess " where to buy" is where you apply and they will add you to the list doesnt means too much.

            • @yuisakas: If so, mod would have already terminated this deal

              • @excite: Im not sure if mod know what is behind but thats see how is goes

          • +1

@excite: Leading Edge Group: They turn over $35 million and have been around since 1986

    • That's correct, I've changed the wording to avoid confusion.

The applicable user and store bans for sockpuppeting were already applied at that time. The notice was added so that users are aware that the associated tag was not there at the time of posting.
