Is it safe to travel to Paris now? have been seeing a lot of videos about looting/rubbish all over the city.
Has anyone traveled to Paris recently?

    • +1

I haven't seen any news re the riots in the last three months. There must be a whole mob on instagram still posting warm summer vids from Paris.

The only European country you unfortunately need to avoid at the moment is Ukraine, which is being invaded by Russia.

        and possibly Kosovo and surrounds…https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/10/1/serbia-denies-us-eu-reports-of-military-build-up-along-kosovo-border

        • Just posturing, nothing is going to happen, there are thousands of UN peacekeepers.

Even if it did, it's just Kosovo and Serbia to avoid, everything else around them is NATO.

“We mean no harm. Our units are merely passing through the area”
          Yeah I heard that before

@Nedkellyinthebush: I'm not saying international politics always abides by simple logic, but there is nothing for Serbia to gain and everything to lose by sending troops into Kosovo. If that wasn't the case they would have already done it long ago. They're just trying to get attention because Kosovo haven't implemented certain agreements and they want the UN/NATO to come say "naughty Kosovo, implement the agreements". Just avoid northern Kosovo and you'll be fine as little skirmishes may break out. Serbia is green on the Australian government travel advice, while Kosovo is yellow aside from part of northern Kosovo which is orange (reconsider travel). Most neighbouring countries are green. For comparison, the UK, Germany and France are all yellow.

        Id avoid london personally

Yeah still probably the dodgiest city I've been too and I travel a fair bit. In fact, 80% of the UK feels like a ghetto.

I was there in the middle of the riots and protests…..didn’t see a thing!

    • I have friends visiting there right now for fashion week and other friends just got back who holidayed there with young children. No problems in either case.

Paris is back to its low-level sketchiness it's been for a few years where there is the possibility of terrorist attacks or riots, but nothing currently kicking off.

    • The city of love has fallen a long way.
Landing at CDG is recommended whilst using a Rosary and praying.
Still the flowerpot urinals are a bit special!

You should ask Qantas about Qatar.

    my experience in August 2022:
    "I'm super butthurt on Etihad.
First time I flew them more than 10 years ago was very good. I was pleasantly suprised by the service at cattle class and legroom on planes .

I fly to Europe every year and have often used them.

It has been getting progressively worse to a point that now I strongly suggest everyone not to use them if practicable.

On my last flight from EU my seat was broken, so couldn't recline on a 12+ hour flight.
Flight was apparently fully booked so they wouldn't change my seat.

When changing planes at Abu Dhabi they lost my passport for couple of hours (looked like it was a shift change and someone just walked away with my passport on the table, and the next guy only started asking about that random passport on his table hours later) making me miss my flight, and having to buy a new ticket for 2k for the next day out of pocket. They didn't take any responsibility.

Staff at Abu Dhabi was very unhelpful and straight up lied to me ( went to another counter with the same question and got a positive answer)

Obviously my luggage got lost. I was quoted 3 days for recovering my luggage and delivery to my house. Insted I was given a runaround for more than a week and finally told that it was on its way BACK to Abu Dhabi !!!? In the end had to pick it up myself. Tbh glad I got it back at all.

Their website is a horrible for submitting claims.
Reporting a missing luggage REQUIRES attachment of photos of the luggage that was lost !?(make sure you take a photo of your luggagebeforethe trip!). Among other idiotic fields and contradictions."

    • They were loosing money for too long.
Still the B787 beats the A330
Security staff are overdressed and if they don't like your name can be a pain!
      Overall just above average!

  • Op any deals for dec/jan coming months?
