    gone…

I paused because the title originally said 256gb and was cross checking. By the time I confirmed it was 512, the deal was finished.

  • Any mini pc experts out there? I'm looking for one which has thunderbolt 3/4. I'd like to just use 1 cable to power and display a mini pc like this but can't find anything that does. Thanks

    • Probably your best bet is an Intel nuc.
I don't know if it will do exactly what you want but they can afford to put thunderbolt ports on as they own the rights.
They are getting out of the nuc business so get them while you can.

ASUS taking over Intel NUC division we don't have to worry about them leaving the market

also Intel donated TB3 spec to the USB-IF to use for USB4

USB4 has thunderbolt 3 compatibility (intel is holding the rights to thunderbolt 4) it's available on lots of 7000 series even some 6000 series AMD hardware, future AMD is expected to integrate it much deeper so it's no longer just a feature of some AIB's on AM5/4 platform

just beware AMD's current implementation doesn't support hot plugging, thunderbolt devices should be plugged in before boot (it still works, sometimes at least on my AM4 X570 Gigabyte Pro Wifi on the first revision of my motherboard that doesn't support thunderbolt 3 with a Gigabyte TITAN Ridge Rev2 expansion card with the pins shorted that makes it think it's connected to the motherboards nonexistent thunderbolt header that's on the v1.1/1.2 revisions)

        • Notwithstanding what you said (please tell me if I'm using that right) the easiest was to get a full implementation of thunderbolt is a nuc with at least an i3.

          • @erasimos: likely still the cheapest until USB4 gains mass adoption, my response was future thinking (year or two from now) as i was responding to intel leaving NUC behind, not to panic as USB4 will be cheaper (higher availability) as it doesn't have to pay royalties to intel

    • re no cables another option is an AIO computer where the mini pc is integrated into the screen

for light/general computing the old 27" imacs from 2013+ are cheap, can get for around $200, installing windows/linux is simple on those

or you could go for something substantially newer from a lenovo/hp/etc for around $400 - $500 through grays, ebay, gumtree, etc

      combine with bluetooth keyboard/mouse

      • Nah not looking for an aio, just something small with low power consumption for YouTube or Web. My main power hungry gaming rig with leds and full water loop etc is overkill for it and I feel guilty when it's run for 8hrs a day.
I have an lg ultrawide with built in hub + thunderbolt 3 so that 1 connection would make everything much easier.

        • very specific requirements, i'd steer clear from the budget chinese mini pc market and go with a reputable brand like asus or intel, iirc centercom had a nuc 11 for around 350

          asus are similarly priced

    • All the Intel NUCs as far as I know have 3 and the expensive ones have 4. There are a couple of Minisforum minis with 4 including the NUCG5 but I can't see them for sale anywhere.

  • all coupons are mow claimed

  • All gone… that was fast

Thanks, OP. Bought one. It's 512GB SSD.

  • Too quick

    Lightning fast deal

    crazy good deals these PCs!
The windows licence alone costs half the price with the other half being the M.2 drive and RAM

    • +2

For sure. Unless you need the GPIO pins of the Pi5, these are much better bang for buck for low-power servers, media players, etc.

      • easier to use too for the common man with Windows interface
and the Pi power consumption keeps increasing

      • Could this be used for reolink cams? Like a NVR?

The pentium mentioned has 48 gpu units, vs 16 in the N95. By all reports it's a great tiny NVR candidate.

          • @Ademos: Does that have POE+? Will it power the cameras?

            • +2

@shap08: I'm not aware of any of these that have POE+ built into them, and if they did the power adaptor would be much beefier.

Luckily that's all cheap now. 8 port for ~$150, 4-port around half that. IE https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/networking/switches/8866… < Though those are slow ports.

You can get the NUCS with like 6 - 8 ports built in. I wouldn't. They aren't going to be as good as a standalone switch which can be easily upgraded over time / retained if you upgrade the NUC, and more stable that fiddling with a software based router system (unless you're a masochist / this is your full time hobby / you really think it'll stop china spying on your boring life)

    • i was thinking this was pretty crap considering the other model was going for $129 the other day

looks like you can get a n100 without ssd/ram for around $165 on ali

      • have to admit with these mini pcs of questionable quality it's probably best to stick with amazon

as theres a significant chance you'll need to do a warranty job

        yeah ali no worth

  • I missed out, AGAIN! Far out

  • Was keen to buy it to make it a NAS with xpenology but the time to check how many sata was available it's gone :)

Any other suggestion to go the synology route without costing an arm and leg?

  • +1

Yeah these are awesome . I got the Beelink a few months ago, same specs in white for $250 delivered. Love it for a basic PC for streaming on my dumb 40" Aldi bedroom tv. 👍

      • Yeah just realised it when I went to check out

        • Apols….thought it was AUD $$$.

  • Bought one now deciding if i need it. Anyone know if it Can it run both plex and home assistant at same time?

  • anyone knows if the fan in the build is noisy at all?
would this be powerful enough to run 24/7 torrent and streaming 4k videos on local network at the same time?
