you're better off with a $300 catleap monitor from eBay.

What you mean the rejected screen with only one input, overseas warranty (if any) and possible pixel problems? I think it's an apple and oranges comparison. Sure the Catleap is good value but not directly comparable as a quality product. It all depends on your needs.

      • I got/have 2x QNIX 1440p with perfect pixel guarantee it was 673 AUD for both. There's no bad pixels, they are perfect. Other people suggest you dont need to get the guarantee, however there is an overclockers thread (you'll know the one if you googled catleap) that has some poll results showing 1-2% are DOA and 7-8% have pixel issues across the main sellers and most people are happy.

I received a DOA catleap off the same seller (bigclothcraft) before these two and it was sent back on their account for return. Good service in my opinion. You will get asked to try different things for a week before you can send it back which is understandable given the expense. Also if it does work with its returned you have to pay the return shipping cost.

Both orders took 2 days to get delivered from Korea.

Not saying the Dell is a bad deal, or that the Korean monitors are better, and I regretted not taking a similar recent offer when the first one was DOA, if that's your thing, but on the flip side the ebay ones are backed by an honest warranty, at least from the bigger sellers with online reputations.

        • It's not so much the warranty as the input and control options I see as the bigger value. For example I have my laptop connected via display port and can switch to it easily to use instead of my desktop when needed. I also love the colour calibration and profiles that come with the panel from Dell. the USB hub / card reader is useful to me also as my main box is under the desk out of the way.

  • I got one of these during the Father's Day sale just past. I primarily use it for photo editing and its perfect!

Lovely monitor. I use it to Ozbargain.

    • Definitely makes you wallet bleeds faster :p

  • I think they really are trying to flog them off before the U2713 comes though

It'll be this price for a bit to come me thinks

Good quality screen and love there warranty and pixel policy

    • U2713HM is already available for $799.

    • The suggestion out there is the U2713 has a different target market and won't necessarily be replacing the U2711, though there's definitely some overlap.

    • and it is 16:9 …my goodness~~

  • Is it possible to use this monitor with a MacAir which only has a Thunderbolt connector? What converter I need to buy?

Quick google and this shuold do the trick

      • Yep I am using one on my DELL U2410. Works great!

    • Yep I use min with my 2010 air and its fine. You will need some form of adapter / cable as it doesn't have mini-displayport/thunderbolt directly on the screen - though it has almost every other connector you could want.
If your likely to travel and use your laptop with other screens I'd suggest a min-displayport to DVI adapter for flexibility (monitor comes with a Dulelink DVI cable), but if it's just for this screen get a min-displayport to displayport cable and it its lovely to simply pug and play. Something like this (didn't check if tits the best price though) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6FT-Mini-DisplayPort-HDMI-Display-…

  • I almost did it. I have a u2410. But with some research, I realised that it's got a bit of lag. Not that much for most, but I'm mainly a gamer and lag is bad.

But for photos, movies, etc, would be a great monitor.

u2410 is brilliant too, but the stands are not completely level which is annoying.

    • I've had an uneven U2410 stand, got it replaced and got a perfectly level one in return :) don't know why some aren't level? Thought I was just me?

whoever wants to buy this as a second monitor to iMac 27, you know what? DON'T.
It's totally two different system, and the Dell 2711 looks awful next to iMac!

    • Well obviously it's going to look different, and the anti glare will give it a different feel to the Gloss of the Mac. But OSx does have the colour profile so colour wise it should match very well in comparison to the other screen, and I have seen posts where people have easily remove the anti glare coating (and voided warranty).
But you know different screens will be different.

Or does the iMac look awful next to the Dell?

  • Any further discounts with NRMA code?

  • Meh, got this for $610 delivered from Dell earlier this year.

  • Hey guys I want to buy this monitor but my laptop has only HDMI and VGA connector. Have googled and found out that HDMI only gives max 1920x1080 resolution and VGA max is 2048x1152. Only DVI dual link and DisplayPort can get the max resolution at 2560x1440. I DO NOT have DVI nor DisplayPort connectors on laptop.

Dell's product guide stated "Set the screen resolution to 2560 x 1440 (DVI and DisplayPort) or 2048 x 1152 (VGA) or 1080p (HDMI, Component)."

My graphics card is Nvidia GeForce GT230M. Nvidia's site stated clearly this card supports max digital resolution at 2560x1600.

So how do I get max 2560x1440 resolution?

You might have to get a Display Port to HDMI converter.. but that scales the quality down for sure. I don't think you can get 1440 if you dont' use DVI or preferably a Display Port cable. My opinion is ditch the screen and upgrade your laptop. I had a GTX 260m when I got my computer in 2009!

If you want the full capabilities of this monitor, you won't get it with your current laptop.
