Accu Chek Performa Nano Meter Kit (Blood Glucose Monitor) $0.99 after $40 Cashback

41

Found this Blood Glucose Monitor/Meter at my local 'mychemist warehouse' on sale for $40.99 save $28.01 (SRP $69). What makes this a bargain is on each unit (this model only- which is actually the top range model) is an attached cash-back card for the value of $40.

Just before you buy it make sure someone at the chemist stamps the cashback card as I believe it is required for it to be approved along with a photocopy of the receipt. Cant find the cashback promo on their site but read all the terms and conditions and seems to be pretty straight forward as with other cashbacks. The only other thing is that it needs to be the actual original cashback card as these are numbered and thus a photocopy of it will not be accepted.

Can't comment on how good these are as bought this for mum as she has diabetes and has never used one before.

*Note -You can buy online and get it shipped out for $8.95 (pretty sure state wide)but might make getting the cashback a little tricky as you need to make sure the cashback card is included with the delivery and it needs to be stamped.

**Note -i have linked to chemist warehouse not mychemist but I think they are the same as they show the EXACT same prices.

***Note- does not come with strips but advised by the chemist that once properly registered as a diabetic you can buy the strips for MUCH MUCH cheaper then the normally sell for. Apparently only about $5 for 100 (instead of $50-ish according to the pharmacist) but don't know yet as have just got the unit and still need to take mum in to get the strips and registered.

So basically in order to get subsidized glucose test strips, the patient will have to register for membership for something called the NDSS which is the National Diabetes Services Scheme. depending on what entitlements they are on, ie General medicare patient, health care card, veteran affairs etc, it will govern the cost they can get the strips for, all of which are substantially cheaper. Patients will need to bring the registration form for their doctor to sign, to confirm they suffer from either Type1/2 diabetes. good luck guys!

    • thanks for that info, I will hopefully take mum to get registering this sat.

  • Where did you get this? I am in SYD CBD.
I indeed need one for my mom who has diabetes.
How can I ask gift card from the staff when I am buying this?
Just ask for it? If the staff says "have no idea", how can I show him I should be able to get a $40 cashback?

I got it from melbourne, in coburg. Should be offered everywhere at its an offer from the manufacturer not the chemist. It's a black cardboard with a tear away section that you fill out. Just ask the people at the counter about the cashback if it is not already attached to the box. Should have plenty of time as cashback expires in sometime in 2013.

Full priced test strips are very expensive, aren't they?

    • Yes, but unless you have diabetes, you probably don't need them lying around the house.

These promotions have been running for a very long time, and just about every single pharmacy out there is selling them for a similar price, although perhaps not the Nano. The Performa Nano is very similar to the Performa, but it is slimmer, more discrete with better LCD contrast, so if you don't really care about those things, just go for the Performa (where your local pharmacy will almost certainly sell it to you for $1 or free after cashback). The company makes the money on the strips and lancets so it's not dissimilar to selling inkjet printers.

If you are not familiar with blood glucose testing, then I would definitely recommend that you head into a pharmacy and get them to show you how to set up the machines, coding the strips and techniques for using lancets which you won't get online.

The strips by themselves usually retail for $36, not $50 but NDSS registration requires some details filled out by the GP and subscription fee, but you get a lot of support from them, and not just subsidised strips (which are good too). When you return the cashback, you are also registering with the company which gives you a five year warranty (I think) and means you are also entitled to one free set of batteries a year.

  • At my work in Ryde, buy the machine for $40 and get $40 cash back. We have the Nano at the same price.

  • Everyday price. No deal.

  • As a T2 Diabetic, I use the Accuchek Integra (3 years with two AA batteries)(16 strip cartridge) and multiclix lancet. I got it off eBay, for $30 (new) when it was $90 in chemists. If I were to buy one today, I wouldn't go to a chemist. Also NDSS makes strips cost negligible.

  • our local chemist next to logan central bowling is selling for $40 , 100% rebate. Not a deal~

Ok, I guess $0.99 it's not that much of a good bargain for one of these Units based on other people's input.again never bought one before so not sure the regular price behind these type of devices, just thought i would post it Up in the hope that it would benefit someone that needs it.

    Thanks everyone for your input.
