Shipping cost varies according to destination, please check before purchasing

A deal was posted yesterday that turned out to be a pricing error, so it was expired and moved to the forums.

After some discussion, the rep agreed to drop the price on this item to $265 plus postage for the weekend only. I assumed that the OP of that post or someone would have reposted the deal once this offer occurred, but it didn't happen so here it is.

looks like the HP microserver is the only IT product that ever appreciated in prices even when there's no floods involved.

    • They seem to have difficulty developing successful products these days so I guys they have to make the most of them ;-)

  • I am interested to know if it will do Raid 0+1 together?

    • It only does raid 0 or 1 so you can have one of each type or two arrays of the same type. Doesn't do 1+0 or 0+1. You can get cheep 4-port HP raid cards on EBay for about $75 that will give you what you're after and raid 5. In yo' face.

  • Ah, the good old days… when we could order HP Microservers -directly- from HP… no shipping to pay… each one cost me $199, from memory.

When will we organise a group purchase… & save?

PS A recent N40L deal was ~$40 less (from memory) with shipping as low as $10.

Wha' happened to the value equation -here- to push price(s) up by so much…???

HP saw green, and their eyes lit up with dollar signs. That's what happened.

    • Its probably the economics. IT and telco prices do not always fall. When these microservers were at the low $200 pricing, they sell out.

Many of the parts for this microserver are desktop parts which are not being sold in volumes they were a few years ago.

Still looks like a buy at $265, but the 2013 version should be out soon.

  • the $199 one are N36L , N40L was around $220~ :(
My N36L is just 1 year old… Maybe I should wait for next generation with USB3~

  • Is this better than the IBM server for $199 from the other day?

    • These are much smaller, but not as powerful. You can install 4 HDD's in them though.

Wanted to buy one of these in July for the $220 sale price but noone would budge. They all offered me at $265 so I'm guessing this is like the normal sale price justified so they can jack up the prices again.

    Neg.

  • Newbie question…. do you need to load an OS or its a NAS out of the box with an interface etc?

    • you need an OS or something like freenas.

  • Yes outdated but had only been used for 1 hour.

  • I should buy a truck load and resell since I can get them delivered for $209 direct from HP…
