  • With some external storage this would be a brilliant plex server. The Ryzen chips aren’t as good as they don’t have the quick sync transcoding available.

    • I didnt think you need something so powerful for plex. I was thinking of using intel n95

      • I have quite a few people streaming from my plex. So if 6 or so streams are running out can be taxing.

        • -1

6 simultaneous media steams isn't niche case at all. What are you running, a medium sized hostel?

      • You can run Plex on absolutely anything.
It's the transcoding function that needs specific hardware features - as long as you disable transcoding then any old hardware is fine.

        • I want tanscoding to be done on the n95 so any tv can watch it in the house. Currently running the server off nvidia shield but want a dedicated pc to do it.

    • Rather get beelink eq12 n100. Better igpu for plex server.

  • How are the iGPUs in these? Is AMD still preferable if I want to do some light gaming?

    • Interested as well

    • Would also like to know this. Anyone have experience with these?

I just bought the Beelink Ser5 5560u and it handles most games. Super quiet. Most games pre 2017 around 50-60 fps. Assassins Creed Odyssey 40-45 fps on low settings and 50% scaling at 1440p. RDRD2 30 - 40 fps using FSR 2. I also upped the max TDP to 30 watts in BIOS without adding heat and fan noise.

      • The Beelink SER5-5560U(16G+500G) is currently 349 which is a good price.

      • Looks like it's not great: https://www.notebookcheck.net/UHD-Graphics-Xe-G4-48EUs-vs-Ve…

Intel's iGPU lineup is somehow worse than AMD's when it comes to naming, it took way too long to dig that up.

        • Looks like AMD Radeon Vega IGPUs slap the Intel Tiger Lake Xe's

      • Assassins Creed Odyssey 40-45 fps on low settings

This is a truly terrible experience.
See post below - if you want to do basic gaming, then these machines are totally unsuitable - you can get an actual gaming machine for not much more.

        • Different kettle of fish. Beelink ser5 is half the cost, portable, low power, work and home media box. If you're in to tweaking games, similar to the stream deck, AMD mini PCs are the go. I'm not saying this a AAA gaming powerhouse, 40-45fps in a single player modern game isn't a truely terrible experience IMHO. Heck my Xbox Series X can only do 30fps in some games.

          • @EpicSpaceLord: … but why would you want to make all those compromises when you can just use a better machine instead ?

You don't have to play anything on low detail at low frame rates at low resolutions - you can just choose something with gaming chops and play the games properly 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • AMD igpus beat intel igpus hands down.

      • No they don't, champ. Certainly not for hardware transcoding.

    • If you want to do some light gaming, then just buy a light gaming machine. Here's one for $699 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/801802

None of these ultra small machines are even remotely suitable for gaming.

  • 500GB .. why??

I'm hell interested in the ser5 max.. but i just don't know why Amazon only offer 500GB.

Going to light game and VM .

    • Lol because unpopular models tend to go on sale?

      • My mistake. I meant to say Ser6 Max.

  • Is this brand any good? I've not heard of them
