  • Good price. I am currently running this mesh system at home too.

  • Serious question - if I had 250mb nbn plan could this wirelessly transmit data within the house at that speed?

    • -2

No. Even if you could get the maximum possible speed that 5Ghz allows, you'd be limited to 1300Mbps (162.5MB/s)

In the real world you'd probably get closer to 200-400Mbps

      • +2

        1300Mbps > 250Mbps though

        • -2

          I'm assuming @miasommers means a 250MB plan

          • @DGrayson82: Yep. Like 100/20 plan. But it’s a 250/20 plan. Ok bummer. I need to upgrade to deco x60s 😭

            • @miasommers: They have the x20 on special as well. I grabbed some as a cost effective upgrade between speed and coverage.
Throughput fairly good, though most TP Link mesh systems seems to lack dedicated backhaul channel. Which may or may not matter depending on what devices you have connected and how they set up.

          • +1

@DGrayson82: No such thing. All NBN plans are Mbps, so yes, this device would probably be sufficient for that plan - keeping in mind that WiFi never runs at the labeled speed, so it might limit the speed somewhat.

    • @miasommers Apologies, I got my mbps and Mbps mixed up, the deco M5 should be for your use

      • Haha all good. Thanks for helping.

  • Probably similar query to what was asked above but I’m with Aussie broadband on FTTP on 100/20 Mbps plan.

Currently use Tp link modem router VR600. I think My nest doorbell at the front of the house has intermittent disconnects from the wifi so I believe this is due to the wifi range? Would this be sufficient to help resolve this and cover the possible wifi dead space at the front of the house?

    • Deco M5 should solve your Wi-Fi range problems. Two Deco's maybe sufficient to cover the range. The VR600 gets disconnected. One Deco becomes your router that gets plugged into the nbn NTD and you plug in another Deco near the doorbell.

  • This one, or the TP-Link Deco Whole Home Mesh WiFi System (Deco S4)?

A friend wants to connect a main house with a studio/granny that is not too far from the main house but it detached from it.
