Sure it’s a couple of generations old, but cheaper than second hand on eBay and still a crazy good CPU.

No issues encoding a video, while having 27 tabs of porn open and watching YouTube at the same time with this bad boy.

AM4 motherboards are cheap, and you got yourself a powerful spare PC.

  • crazy good deal, my 3900x could use some upgrade I suppose LOL

    • Sell your 3900X and you get an extra 50Xs for cheap.

But, what do I do when I want 28 tabs?

    • +4

      Download more RAM obviously.

      • +2

Only 28 tabs? My Macbook handles 100+ like a champ - my only reason for 96GB RAM of course.

  • Such a beast. Just keep in mind these can suck power

  • 5800x3D has been around 450ish, could be better for gaming if you're after that

    • +4

Better framerate in Sex Chess also maybe

  • Great for a pihole or adguard

how the time flies…. i remember when it was released, us laptop owners look up at this as this is some sort of outworldly beast that eats laptop cpus for breakfast

in 2023, my mobile 7945HX rips this in half at a fraction of the power draw….

really shows you why competition is important

OP was downplaying the benefits!! Cause I can vouch for the 3950X!! Crazy good CPU! I downgraded to this after paying $1,375 for a 5950X at the time of crazy prices…along with my RTX 3080 [I paid $2,300.00 cash for] and realised I didn't need such heavy hardware [partspicker value priced at $7,350.00 at that time] just to keep 120 tabs - some admittedly with Pr0n, open…

This is a great price…AND AN EVEN BETTER BUY! Seriously may even buy this for myself, sell my used unit for close to this bargain price…and gain another 3 years warranty…ACTUALLY NOW THAT I HAVE WRITTEN THAT…IMA GONNA DO!

  • good for an encoding machine

  • For a fresh build, this cpu only makes sense for workloads, useless for gaming.

Not bad for an upgrade from say a R5 2600 or something if you're still on that platform.

  • similar performance as 5900x but most of the game cannot use the full performance due to the number of cores

    • Agree, unless rendering, even a 5600 will beat this in gaming and in other day to day task due to faster ST performance.

Best use case is probably cheapish video production.

  • Damn, a bit late
