That's not bad at all for a new model release.

However, it's not worth the upgrade from the QCII. Bose also still owe us a firmware update for AptX and multipoint BT. If they don't deliver that, then that is poor form.

Would be a shame because the QCII (and these Ultras) are solid earbuds. Best fitting earbuds for my weird ears and best NC IMO.

    • You can still use the button on the charging case to switch between saved devices.

A word of caution, I had to return a pair of Quiet Comfort II earbuds recently after finding out they have a well known 'white noise' that persists whenever noise cancelling is enabled. Made the earbuds impossible to use in quiet situations and would warn anyone considering getting Bose to give them a trial first.

Personally, I wouldn't get Bose again.

    • Can confirm there is more white noise on NC with these earbuds so if anyone is sensitive to that then avoid these.

The Sony XM4 had less white noise on NC for comparison.

      • Sonys been ahead of bose for noise cancelling since they started doing noise cancelling. Bose seeme to have enjoyed the first mover advantage for ages bit they havent earned their rep in the field for over a decade.

I have to disagree since the QC II and I've been team Sony for the last 5 years. QC II is a hugely noticeable step up in NC against the WF1000XM4

          • @tof: Ah, my statements re the over ears. WH series, I think? Yeah, I tried the sony in-ears and they were absolute pants for ANC. Returned them in fact.

      • If you try to return clearly faulty Bose items to Myer after 30 days the return process is long-winded and arduous. You'll be in the store for half an hour while the sales assistant works through the seemingly never-ending return process on an iPad. In the end, items are returned to Bose to "fix" which goes via the mail system. I returned faulty BLACK earbuds and was returned BLUE earbuds one month later. This further process to resolve this took so much of my time and ultimately involved arguing and getting "assertive". Ultimately it was Myer that gave in, not Bose.

I will likely never buy Bose again after my recent return experience. I've been totally put off by their absolute garbage customer service when you experience problems with their product. Ultimately, they tried to replace my "popular" coloured product with a "non popular" one, which is shady as.

My advice, do not delay opening and using any Bose item you buy. Use them immediately, in other words, don't buy anything as gifts. They will use every single day against you as a reason not to make the return process of faulty products simple and easy.

  • Bose have a 90 day return policy if you buy directly from them. They also price match. In my experience return process was easy

  • I am currently using QCII, white noise is there but not so much compared to Bose NC700. The Bluetooth on QCII is a bit flaky. I used Bose website for repairs and it showed I was covered for free repairs. Sent for repairs using free return service. One week later they shipped Brand new pair of earphones ( BNIB).I initially bought these from JB HiFi from the last deal I think I paid 249$. AirPods Pro /2 never stay in my ears, was tired of pushing earphones deep into my ear canal. NC, Bass is amazing on QCII and would pick Bose no doubt.

    • I noticed the opposite: white noise on the QC II was unbearable, but very comfortable to wear. NC700 had minimal white noise and NC was exceptional but uncomfortable to wear for a long time. Returned them both to Bose.
