  • NRMA offer better as you only need to sign up to electricity for $300

    • how do you get this offer, do you need to have insurance with them, or NRMA blue will work as well?

      • Nrma blue.

        Plan is called simply nrma

  • ooph, I just recently signed up with them for $200 credit.

    I got this offer.
But they are hiding the rates and want you to call them.
Show me the actual electricity and gas rates on this offer and I will think about it.

    • I agree. Clicked on it, no rates easily available, closed the window and left. No deal.

I did the VIC Energy Comparison, and these guys for me basically would be another $500 annually, or an extra $40 odd a month
Given the discount applies on the first month, and I can't see any requirement to stay for longer than the first month to get this discount, I imagine you then need to consider do you spend $350 credit in a month of usage (I don't, just a 2 person household), and of course disconnection, reconnection, exit fees etc from each retailer, particularly if you are going to then jump out of Simply Energy once you have your discount..

    Not worth it for me.

    • +2

Disconnection and reconnection does not apply if you are just changing retailer.

      • Didn't know this! Thanks.. So just exit fees to consider

        • what exit fees? residential energy supply usually has no lock-in contracts

Information that may be helpful (for gas only) -

PayPal offer is called ‘Simply Team’ plan. Here are the rates -
    Welcome credit - $275
Solar feed in tariff - 11c
    Peak rate - 49.31c
    Off peak rate - 28.69c
    Supply charges - 132.51c
Discount (usage and supply) - 12%

Compared to ‘ VIC - Simply Energy Solar 4% off elec’ plan -
    Welcome credit - $200
Solar feed in tariff - 11c
    Peak rate - 49.31c
    Off peak rate - 28.69c
    Supply charges - 132.51c
Discount (usage and supply) - 4%

Compare your usage vs solar production and you’ll be able to decide which one is better for you. I’ve just signed up for the VIC 4% plan.

    • Something about this doesn't work.

      • This was as communicated by the sales rep on call with me.

        • But in what you wrote above the rates are identical for both, you just chose the one with less discount and less credit.

Perhaps the FIT should be different?

          • +1

            @scatman00: Sorry. My bad.
FIT for VIC plan is 11c whereas it is 4c for the other one.

    • The rates for the same plan will differ depending on where you are and who your distributor is. The VIC - Simply Energy Solar 4% off elec plan is showing much better rates than that for me.

      • Yes. That is a possibility.

  • Also available in NSW
$275 for electricity, no discount it appears
$75 for gas, 10% discount on usage and supply

  • +1

The discount cannot be refunded in cash, so if you say join for 1 month and only have a bill for $100 that month, then leave - you forfeit any unused discount.

I was with Simply a few months ago and had constant billing errors - always in their favour. Including paying $0.00 FIT.

  • I didn’t get an email for this - has anyone checked if you can just join if you have a paypal account?

  • Hi All,

If the credit doesn’t get used up first month does it roll over?
