$1,000 off Google Pixel 8 / Google Pixel 8 Pro with $69/M 120GB/M 24M Telstra plan (New/Port-in, In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

760

Saw this on JB pixel email. In-store only. Seems like a good deal if you're after a pixel as the $1k / $1.2k gc is reserved for the $99 plan, never on a $69 plan, and if you have JB gc's sitting around.

The free pixel 8 pro on a $69 HN Optus plan is still the better deal (expires 19 Oct) but hey, here's another option for you.

  • Anyone know if the HN deal still ongoing?

    • +1

      Ended a week early

      • Dam, thanks

  • Tried couple of JB's around me. They won't stack the bonus $300 trade-in credit! They did show me the exclusions in red which is fair enough!

    • What stores?

      • +1

        Northland stores in Preston VIC

I wasn't sure since it did say not included with coupon but a few people have been able to get it, including myself

      Gold Coast, qld

      • Yeah, hence I went in today to see. But 3 stores now and they told me you can't. But did you tell them you are using your bonus credit to pay or just paid it at the counter?

EDIT: so just saw your comment. Just don't want to get into the counter and the voucher wont work and I pay extra $300! Cheers

        • I called up a few stores and asked about the Telstra deal and voucher just now, got about 7 stores around me 30min or less drive time. 4 said no but 3 said yes, including the one I bought from.

Maybe try your luck, call around and if they say yes, take note of who you talked to.

          Worth a shit I guess

          • @zb c: Yeah thanks. Appreciate it

          • @zb c: Worth a shot… typo

I bought for a family member as they liked my 8pro and move away for s20fe.

I bought mine from HN deal and picked up launch day. Sucks they pulled the deal but this worked out a little better since trade in was accepted

            • @zb c: Have you spoken to them about how their transition from Samsung OneUI to Pixel Android is? I changed to pixel from Samsung S20FE too but there are just too many inconveniences for me. A lot of things that I used to be able to do with 1-2 taps now takes twice as many.

Not able to set brightness bar in notification on first swipe down
No option for nfc toggle in notification
Pixel combines notification and ringtone into the same volume slider
There was also some annoyance with AOD and how it is set up - you get a tiny small clock when you have notification and a massive large clock without

A lot of them are small things that I got used to with Samsung.

              • @CodeXD: They had pixel before but only bought s20fe because their existing phone was on its last legs.

Actually prefer pixel because it’s simpler and has less crap than Samsung.

The volume issue isn’t there anymore with android 14.

AOD uses the lock screen clock setting which you can change. The big/small thing in A14 wasn’t there in previous versions but it’s just a setting.

            • @zb c: Yes I already have the deal from HN as well. Getting this for a relo as well.

All sorted finally, 4th store accepted it. They had to redo the transaction as they have to put the voucher first.

              Thanks!

                @mcargy08: yeah nice

There are a few stores who are chilled about this stuff.

I rarely shop anywhere else since they have good deals and you can get a good price by asking nicely or doing a bundle.

Yep, I had the same issue yesterday. Coupon first then everything else.

  • Still not sure where to buy the phone from should I just go in-store and buy the phone off the plan. Sorry never knew that one can cancel the plan after buying the phone and go with the cancellation fee. Please advice which deal to go with JB deal or the HB deal.

Just bought from JB Rouse Hill. They will stack trade in and bonus plus $1000 gift card on $69x24mth plan. Happy days.

  • Does anyone know if cancelling a plan straight away like this affects your credit score?

    • +1

I would assume as long as all fees paid it would not affect?

  • +3

For anyone following, they've upsized the GC to $1050 for the remaining two days of the deal.

    • I've just chatted to JB about this and even they were surprised when checked the offer list, yes now 1050.
However, the guy I talked to said if cancel the plan in say 1 year we'd have to pay back half the 'gift voucher ' - to which he implied if I cancelled tomorrow it would be almost the full $1050.
Has anyone had any trouble getting the lower cancel fee mentioned by others?

      • The voucher he referred to is the payout amount for the Telstra plan.

      • +2

If you read the CIS, the max voucher is $450. I just did it today and my cancellation was only $433 (they pro-rata the first month). I don't believe there will be any other repayments. :)

Total cost was: $1799+$69 (1 month plan fee) +$433 (cancellation) - $1050 (gift card) = $1,251. Also cheeky 3% off the $749 remaining so extra $22 off.

        • What does the porting process look like? Is it done in store? I'm on Boost atm so I'm thinking of just buying a random prepaid sim on the day and try to port that over.

          • +1

@quanticism: I just signed up with a brand new number, no port required if you intend on cancelling. I also did another port previously and it was relatively painless but did take >2 hours.

  • Anyone know which store in Vic South East is doing the double stack?

Had a pre order in for the other offer at JB ($300 bonus for trade in) and was away until yesterday. Went in to pick up the phone and asked if they could honour the $300 coupon but on this deal instead and they did! So $899 for the phone - $1000 bonus and I left with a $101 gift card

  • +1

Was at JB in melb central earlier and saw these 2 deals ending tomorrow for those who are interested:

    $0 Pixel 8 + $100 gift card on the $99 plan over 24 months
$1400 off Pixel 8 Pro on the $99 plan over 24 months (was told that they can take an extra $100 off the phone if I sign up immediately)

Early Termination Fee for both is $800 I believe.

  • I purchased this deal, and 5 days in the phone crashed and went into a restart loop and wouldn't even go into recovery mode… JB hi-fi have replaced it so fingers crossed it's not a widespread issue

  • Anyone else get a cranky outstanding debt letter from jb hifi/Telstra for the early termination fee? They don’t bill the credit card on file automatically for this.

  • Loving the phone! I'm looking to stay on the Telstra plan for another month, does that mean the Cancellation fee becomes $450x22/24=$412.50?
    Tia
