This is a good price for the specs in this Dreamquest Windows 11 Pro mini pc deal.

It looks to have been refreshed as a "2023" version now with the 12th gen Intel N95 CPU so hopefully newer/better components on the mainboard (yet to be confirmed though).

UPDATE: There is a chance these use SATA storage which may be a dealbreaker for some - if you were intending to upgrade it with NVMe SSD, it looks like this may not work.
UPDATE2: The WiFi 5 / BT 4.2 card is soldered on, and cannot be replaced or swapped out.

What I like about this model:
There seem to be plenty of USB 3.2 ports.
3 HDMI ports are simple to use and accessible.
Micro SD card reader built in.
Dual Gigabit LAN.
Dual Band WiFi 2.4GHz / 5GHz
Bluetooth 4.2
16GB DDR 4 Memory
2.5 SATA can be added for additional storage.
Windows 11 Pro is included.

Gaming: Note that the N95 CPU is not particularly suited for gaming. N100 is similarly not suited but better performing for games out of the two.

The UK reviews of the new model seem to be quite positive, with more than one reviewer mentioning quietness, and many surprised at it responsiveness and value for money.

I imagine most reviews on the Amazon AU page are of the older model with the slower N5105 CPU, and some complain of noise (I am hoping the newer model has addressed these concerns, but so far unconfirmed).

You need to check the $60 coupon before purchasing to get the $239.99 price.

Update: There is now a $50 coupon you need to check, to get a $249.99 price

Update: it looks like the 16GB/512GB N95 models have sold out.

    • Unsure of what you meant by "run it with enough power if directly connected to my Macbook"?

You cannot power this mini PC from your Macbook as there is no PD Type C connection (and unsure if Macbooks even can do this?).

You could connect via Remote Desktop (as these come with Win 11 Pro) via your local network, and run MS Applications on the mini PC if that is what you meant?
      A reference here :

Don't ask Windows users. Anyway, it is a crazy idea. Even if you purchased the one from a competitor that supports USB-PD to power the Mini PC, your new Apple Silicon Macbook Air won't allow sufficient output. The USB-C/PD output of a Macbook Air is around 15W. You cannot expect Apple to give you a power supply that can power a Mini PC on the Thunderbolt / USB 4 port.

Remote Desktop suggestion, if that's good enough, you wouldn't be running VM anyway.

Forget that idea. If you want to buy this as a toy, just buy it. No need to come up with some special usage to justify it.

I shake my head whenever someone discusses how good these are for gaming like that is even a factor to buying one of these.

btw, duel ethernet = can use as pfsense router. Edit: OPs concerns about NVME vs SSD are quite silly. In real world performance, you won't notice the difference.

    • btw, duel ethernet = can use as pfsense router

You should never do this on a realtek NIC. It will not be reliable and you will not hit targeted speeds.
Unless you can upgrade to an Intel dual-NIC, this miniPC is not fit for pfSense.

      • Meh, I don't have any problems with realtek these days. Intel is recommended. I use Mellanox Connect-X3 10GB SFP+ NICs on mine (not a mini-PC, obviously). Note I said you CAN use it as a router. I never said it was the grade-A way to do it, but the possibility is there.

  • Would this be good for local 4k HDR Movies?

I can confirm an NVME drive will not be recognised in this machine even though in the BIOS there is an NVME setting.

Shame they disabled the functionality :(
