      • Do you like Dong?

      • Looking for getting one as well. But what to do if you receive a defect one, such as dead pixels? There is Buyer Protection, but I am wondreing if that ever works. And if need to return the item you have to pay the shipping fee by yourself?

        • +2

If you can handle a few dead pixels a partial refund can be arranged via an AliExpress dispute easily. Some sellers may opt for a full refund.

  • Any EV charger recommendations please from AliExpress?

    • +2

Don't buy a charger from AliExpress if it's not got a C-Tick that its compliant with electrical standards Australia. Maybe look at a 'ZJ Beny' or 'Telsa' charger instead.

      • Good luck finding AliExpress items with C-Tick.

For the past 2 years, the items I wanted, Jack visited the sellers and raised the prices the night before 11/11.

      • It is unfortunately how often Aliexpress sales prices are just straight up lies and scams.

      • Jack be Single, Jack be Quick

    • I thought only Chinese people know about 11 11

To be honest, I've found ebay prices to now be comparable to aliexpress. Usually gets shipped faster as well and no need to confirm receipt for cashbacks.

    • +4

Usually free shipping at Ali, better for small purchases.

      • Most of the stuff I buy has added shipping or free if over $15 ( or some other random amount). The ‘free’ shipping items are priced higher. In summary, shipping is factored into the price.

        • Yes the choice items are always free shipping when over 15 or 7.90, the selection at that price on eBay almost never has free shipping

    • +4

I found AliE still cheaper for most items (and the $15 to get free shipping option, I am guessing to match Temu can also help lower the price). Items below $15 may still depend (due to the shipping cost). Most of the time, AliE is cheaper, but I did find a couple of times feeBay had dirt cheap ones.

      • Wanna try your luck with some Fikwot SSDs? Quite the name! They look to be quite similar to Fanxiang SSDs which are usually HIKSEMI (Hikvision) SSDs.

Purchased my 2nd projector off Aliexpress in under 2 months. 2nd one was for a friend who wanted a portable projector. Forget the Samsung Freestyle. Managed to get the Formovie S5 for $657 from the previous Ali coupon sale from this seller: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006007760403.html

Insane value for money. This thing is leaps and bounds better than any other portable projector under $800. Yes, I've seen the Samsung Freestyle in person (retails for $1295 at JBHIFI) and this Formovie S5 at half the price kicks its butt in so many ways from brightness to image sharpness.

    • I second that seller on Aliexpress (Demo Origin Store). Also bought Formovie S5.
The customer service is very good, much better than other seller on Aliexpress.

    • Does anyone have any suggestions for projectors thats cheaper?

Looking around the 300$ mark, doesn't have to be anything to fancy, ideally short throw (if it's available in this price range) would be really nice but open to any suggestions.

Primarily going to be used for movie/streaming with external speaker.

      Thank you!

It's a temping deal, but I never received one of my orders even though it was marked as delivered. So, I don't think I can trust spending at least $90 using AliExpress.

What was the outcome with PayPal when you submitted a dispute?

      • +1

I don't think I used PayPal at the time. I was going to do a chargeback, but I was told that I'd risk getting banned from Ali. It was a $30 loss.

        • AliExpress disputes are really good in my experience. They only failed me once and a dispute was no issue.

      • +1

paypal buyer protection is a dud. they want you to post back item at your own cost.

        • Never had that issue myself.

    • +7

The amount of risks depends on what you are buying, the credibility of the store and whether or not there is a return option.

The buyer protection is pretty weak and heavily sides with the seller. Their ‘free return’ doesn’t mean if you don’t like it, only if there’s an issue - but it doesn’t say that.

Also, a lot of the sellers don’t really understand the details of the items they sell. When you message them, they just repeat themselves and give vague answers. I steer clear of these sellers.

I buy a lot of watch watch parts and rely heavily on ratings of the item and the seller. Fortunately a lot of the items are rated on other websites, which gives me piece of mind.

      There’s always buyer protection too.

I have bought HEAPS of stuff off AliExpress over the years. Several purchases a month, in fact.
I have only ever had one transaction be dodgy and that was immediately refunded by AliExpress (seller looked to be fake)
Also their postage times have improved substantially. In some instances I get the item within a week or 2.

          • +2

@Funky-munky: one of my latest transactions…..

  • Stuff I buy on Ali isn't stuff I need urgently. In my mind you need to think ahead a little with what you need and not care/worry if it doesn't arrive for a while…I find I'm less frustrated that way ;)

Stuff I buy on aliExpress I usually forget about. When combined orders arrive it's like Christmas. I feel each sub-package to try and work out what it is. The best thing is that it's always something I wanted.

Reolink cameras are significantly cheaper on Aliexpress compared to their Ebay and Amazon store. Whats even better is they shipped it from their Sydney warehouse so I received my Aliexpress order within 3 days. Picked up this Reolink Argus 3 pro including solar panel for around $130 previously: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002254036759.html?spm=a2…

I've learnt that for many types of products, you should check Aliexpress before buying on Amazon. Often you'll find the exact same products for less than half the price.
