You go to "Create your apple ID" You enter your first and last name, India, date of birth, an email that you have not used before for Apple, and your Australian phone number, change the prefix to Australia (as they will send you confirmation codes) .

Step 2. Go to Amazon Australia to your account and add an Indian address.

Name: Your name and surname
Street: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Int'l Airport Rd
City: Mumbai
State/Province/Region: Maharashtra
Postal Code: 400099

Step 3. (Incognito mode recommended) Buy an apple store card on Amazon India. You log in with your Amazon account. Write the desired amount (999 rupees for Apple TV+, which is what the annual cost is). You click to pay by card and write your full name and your card (Revolut it's recommended, but any card should work).

Step 4. They will send you a code by email to the email you have in your Amazon account. Now download the Apple Music app (both IOS and Android). You log in with the email you created in step 1.
You go to the settings (top right over the 3 dots). Click "Account" and then "Redeem gift card or code." Copy and paste the code that was sent to you by email (App Store Code). And you will already have your 999 rupees in your Apple account. Important : Add the Indian address from step 2 with the same details in "Account" - "Payment Information" in the Apple Music app.

Step 5. (Incognito mode recommended) Visit tv.apple.com and log in, click the profile picture at the top right and then click "Settings" . Scroll down to "Subscriptions" and select "Manage". You select the monthly subscription of 99 rupees and click to accept. After completing the monthly subscription, you again go to “Subscriptions” and “Manage” and switch to the annual subscription of Rs 999 which is cheaper than going month to month.
Although VPN India might not be required, in case it doesn't direct you to apple tv India, switch your VPN ON to India.

All content will be the same as Apple TV Plus AU. No VPN will be required to watch.

  • Something very odd (in a good way) happened for me. I loaded the 999 rupee onto the new Apple tv + account all good. Then a couple days later the pending Amazon charge was refunded back to my Up account for some reason? Checked the Apple account today after the free trial period was over and the 999 rupee has been taken and new expiry date is October 2024. Very weird, but obviously not complaining.

  • On step 2 when I tried to log in to Amazon.in, it says my password is incorrect but when I logged into Amazon.com.au with the same info it worked. Did anyone have a workaround? Or do I need to create a new Amazon India account?

    • Have you entered your indian details on Amazon AU? After you do that, then you go on Amazon India and sign in with the same password.

      • Ah so I had my AU address as default and when I changed the Indian address to default - it then allowed me to log in. Thanks

  • It works! Super easy! THANK YOU!
How about following years? Stack up Indian Amazon gift cards or add somehow Australian credit card for auto-renewal?

  • Anyway to get the code resent in step 4? Checked junk and can't see it?

  • Hmmm I keep getting "Your request could not be completed at this time. Your account cannot be created at this time." when creating a new AppleID

    • Same here 🤷‍♂️

    • i got this error repeatedly using edge on windows 10. india vpn/without vpn,incognito/without, au mobile/fake india mobile, no difference. tried again with normal chrome on a mac with au mobile and it worked first time

    • I was able to get around this by signing up on my MacBook

  • Thanks this worked great

  • +1

When creating my Indian Apple account, I keep getting the following message:

Your request could not be completed at this time.
Your account cannot be created at this time.

I'm wondering if they're now geoblocking or using the +61 mobile number to block…

    • I tried it on a different Mac and it worked.

    • I got over this by putting a random indian phone number and then when it sends a confirmation code to that random number, you then get an option to change the number. It worked on the 3rd attempt

  • Gift Card unavailable.

    • Worked for me, I was able to buy on Amazon India just now.

      • No idea what I'm doing wrong. I added my indian address, set as default. Log in. tried to use the link but when I put 999 and click pay it brings me to an error page 'Looking for something?
We're sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site.

        Go to Amazon.in's Home Page'

  • I'm currently getting tripped up on step 5…

When I go to do this, it says that I need to add payment details along with a billing address. The latter is no problem but there seems to be no way around the need to add UPI billing details.

  • Maybe you missed this step on Step 4?

Important : Add the Indian address from step 2 with the same details in "Account" - "Payment Information" in the Apple Music app.

    • ahh yes I think I did. I'll do that now.

    • hmm now it's asking for UPI details in the Apple Music app on my iPhone when I try to add account address in too.

    • OK, found the solution. You go into the Apple TV app on the iPhone and subscribe to the 7 day free trial with renewal at 99 a month. It then tells you invalid address and you get a form where you can just enter the address, not the UPI ID.

  • Thanks op, very easy and works like a treat. Wouldn't accept my ANZ credit card but accepted my ANZ debit card.
Had to set VPN to india.

  • How do i bypass the UPI requirement?

  • First of all how do I create an email account without a mobile number. My phone is already linked with my email id.

  • In my confirmation email from Apple, they say 'This purchase was initiated from Australia.' lol

  • I've bought the INR credit, now in Amazon.in, but am getting repeated errors:
"Your request could not be completed at this time.
Your account cannot be created at this time."

I've tried across browsers (started in incognito Safari, but thought maybe they're wise to such things, tried Edge, Chrome, Firefox), also its a free Indian VPN extension, and without, with Adblock off, incognito help!?

  • I had the UPI issue and none of the above methods worked. I had already added the 999inr to my account and already updated the address.

So here is what I did.

I bought a new 100inr gift card, and when adding that it gave the option to redeem a month of free Apple Music. I accepted that and it then allowed me to sign up to Apple TV. Hope this helps someone!

    • 'Adding' as in when you bought the 100inr it prompted you to redeem, but you didn't get the same prompt when buying the 999inr? (I didn't)

      • I did but I ignored it the first time around

  • Apology, this is OOT.
I can't install "AppleTV" app on SONY Smart TV.
Anyone experiences the same problem, and have a solution for it?
atm, I use FireTV dongle on HDMI port as a workaround.

      • Thanks for the tips.

  • For anyone facing UPI issue, VPn to India, open music app on your macbook —>Itunes Store - Account - Update Indian address (No UPI dropdown)—>go back to store page —> Redeem

  • In Step 3, I enter the amount and click 'Pay'. However, the website displays an error message stating: "Looking for something?
We're sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site."

Is there any way to fix this problem?

    • I'm getting this too. I've tried VPN and no VPN, and both incognito and normal.
      Any solution ?

  • For those having problems with Step 1 SMS verification. I tried a 2nd time using the phone call option and that worked.
But now step 3 doesn't work.

  • I was able to redeem the code and ensured that my account had an Indian address, but I was prompted for a UPI ID when signing up via the browser. So, this is what I did:

    1. On my iPhone, go to Settings -> Click on your account
    2. Select Media and Purchases and sign out of your Australian account (don't worry, this is temporary)
    3. Sign in using the Indian Apple ID
    4. Verify that the Rs. 999 is reflecting
    5. Open the Apple TV app on your phone and it should allow you to sign up without prompting for any UPI ID. By default, it will give you the monthly option after a free trial. But you should be able to go to your account subscriptions and change that to a yearly subscription.
    6. You can now sign out of your Apple Indian account on your iPhone and go back to your Apple Australian account.
  • If you're getting stuck on the UPI screen, you can choose the net banking option and select any bank. This worked for me

  • Thank OP, finally got around to doing this and it worked no issues.

  • In step 4 when i go to account in apple music (android phone or windows laptop) there is no option to add gc or code. First line on the phone is "None" and a target icon, on laptop its upi id. Been doing everything to the letter before that. Any thoughts? Cheers
