  • So you walk near the door and the intruder can then just open it?

    • from my quick read i believe the key would need to be stored in your phone first. so if they stole your phone then yes

      https://www.kwikset.com/products/detail/kevo-traditional-tou…

Patent pending positioning technology security feature automatically detects if you are inside your home to prevent unauthorized access

Without looking I assume it's two antennas and using ToF.

  • Id only trust this if the keyhole was permanently epoxied shut.

Have had one of these for a few years but it just recently failed. I won’t be replacing it with an another.

It’s quite slow and sometimes fails to unlock with the phone at all. The app also spontaneously logs you out so it stops unlocking until you log in again.

These are good in that that don’t look like a smart lock from the outside, and the manual key backup is a useful feature, IMO (means my failed one is currently just being used as a dumb lock).

I’m looking to replace it with a Level Lock+ that has Apple HomeKey - but they aren’t sold locally at the moment and aren’t cheap.

    Yeah no thanks.
Haven't had a problem with keys and a spare in the neighbours garden

  • Also the “Kevo Plus” mentioned has never been available in Australia and is no longer available anywhere - so definitely no remote access/integration options with this lock if that’s a requirement.

The $542 “original” price on this seems steep too. This is now quite an old lock. I paid $349 for mine from Bunnings in Sept 2019.

Got them on clearance in 2020 for $40 each @ bunnings. Bought 3. Looks great, but 70% failure when batteries are 60%. Works well with fresh batteries. 90% Faustration. I've since upgraded to eufy lock. The key fob that can be bought seperately is so fragile, that 0% of the 5 I purchased lasted, thankfuly they were only $3.50 on clearance @ bunnings. Calibration of my phone distance from the door gets closer and closer until you are touching the phone on the lock to unlock. Getting this lock after my comment would be absurd. Sorry OP!

I sincerly hope you have a different experience especially if you bought it at this price!

…and 100% reason to remember the name!

  • Poor quality, slow to work.

I have an August Lock which works a lot better instead.
