  • Amazon reports it as 26% off $77.15 -> $56.34
  • Delivery time isn't ideal (01/11/2023 -> 06/11/2023)
  • Not finding much with local products to compare it to price wise, Sydney tools stocks a high speed variant for $89 and a variant with a blue switch instead of red but seemingly the same specs, also for $89.

I was looking for a power screwdriver that isn't too big and clunky to work on some DC Electrical projects. I have tried wowstick (a joke of a screw driver) and the bosch go, both are not very ergonomic and the push to screw on the bosch has me rolling my eyes a lot. I have a full kit out of the big boy tools but my beef baby hands need something to screw my smaller screws into my home automation projects.

  • 2Nm of power when doing your job for you, 10Nm when you do it yourself
  • Reviews are saying if you over do it manually the mechanism that stops the motor from spinning, decides to can't even and jogs on
  • 3.6v 800mAh and the dreaded Micro Type B USB port (When will suppliers run out of this joke of a connector and move on…..)
  • Japanese made, the brand is quite decent from the surface level research I have done
  • Aluminum sleeve chuck
  • Weight 160g
  • LED light

Edit:

As per Jamay18 comment down below, you can upgrade the battery capacity by replacing the 18350 battery.

Totally different price bracket but love my makita pen drivers. Great for my electronics work. Super ergonomic.

First off Jimothy, I love your name.

I did have a look at these, I guess I assumed they were too big. Sucks bosch never made a 12v one, having to buy into another platform is getting me sweating (read tool addiction).

    • +1

same, i use Makita pen as well. also have the 12v and 18v, but i probably won't move up to 40v, since 18v has everything i need.

      • +1

        Name checks out… on me ;/ ?

Are you guys not referring to the 12v Makita ? or is there another Makita pen driver?

        • +1

7.2v pistol grip convertible . Loved it so much I have two sets. I have other makita tools but this is the only 7.2v ones.

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: 2 sets? Jimothy you have sold this to me. A man that buys 2 sets of the same tool is enough justification for me.

            • @Gbreal: Haha I do a lot of assembly/repairs of led lights. Doing 300 cob holder screws with a normal screwdriver gets old quick with a normal drill. The second set is usually for one my two assistants.

              • @Jimothy Wongingtons: @Jimothy Wongingtons Hey mate sorry to necro an older post, which model number were you using for those cob holders?

                • @Gbreal: I mainly use citizen cob leds (like CLU038-1205C4) for my repairs, they come with the citizen holders. It’s actually relatively generic though unless your cob reflector needs to screw to the holder too.

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Can confirm this is end game screwdriver. I also have the DF012DSE. The electronic clutch on it is magical.

  • Made an account just to comment haha, I for the life of me cannot figure out if this is the exact same model as https://addictedtotools.com/collections/tools/products/vesse… sells and talks about online heaps. I have always wanted to snag one but $120 (even if its for work was a bit high)

Potentially has a different coloured grip? but ‎220USB-1 is what this seems to be and the other one is a 220USB-P1.

The one you linked is the 3 speed variant, this guy goes into it a fair bit.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW-QN-nI-Mk&t=248s

The one I posted is the high torque low speed, from my understanding their are 3 main ones, high speed low torque, low speed high torque, and 3 speed.

    • This one is just as good if you dont need high speed and cheaper.

I've had it for a year and it's been great, about to swap the 18350 battery for a higher capacity one for longer runtime.

      • I was wondering if the battery was replaceable what capacity 18350 will you be adding?

        • +1

The existing in my one is a KAN brand 18350 800mah and I bought an efest 1200mah 18350 to replace it with.

          • @Jamay18: Thanks for confirming, I updated the post.

    • The one you linked to has usb c and 3 speeds , the one in the ozb post is micro usb and one speed

  • wow amazing price.
It says 10Nm max torque, does that mean during a manual twist is there an audible click or feedback when it hits that torque?

    • Someone correct me here but I believe 10Nm is the motors stopping mechanism capacity, if you push past this (which you can easily), that mechanism will be damaged and no longer be an effective tool.

The idea for this tool is to drive your screw till it can't no longer and you do the final tightening yourself ….within reason.

The number you will be looking for is the 2nm.

      • I believe that's correct, theres no feedback, I think that's the max torque the gearbox can handle before damaging it.

Sometimes when manually tightening it will spin a bit before locking into place so I think it has some sort of mechanism for hand torquing.

  • It looks cool but $56 and it comes with just 1 bit?

    • Yes , also need a flat head bit

    • im surprised it even came with 1 bit at all tbh

I've got a similar no-brand one I got as a gift years ago. Find it super useful and even my then 2yo daughter could successfully use it to unscrew the battery cover from a toy car

  • With that shape and being battery-powered, this can … have a multitude of applications.

I thought that was a black Hitachi magic wand. Jesus.

    • I mean, take the bit out and it could be….

      • +3

I suppose the old adage: "Anything can be one if you're brave enough" is true.

    • +1

No, clearly from the description it's an Electric Ball Grip.

      • I mean, "magic" wand. ;)

      • Oh, so it's for guys then, and sounds painful.

  • I bought one of these a few years ago and love it! Really good for working on computers and putting together flatpack furniture (although the furniture needs a manual screwdriver tighten as well).

  • CNW have it if you it locally.

$81.60 0n eBay for the three speed model.

    • The number of "Vessel" bits and handles on Ali is concerning.

      • +1

I bought the eBay one. It's genuine and comes from Japan with free postage.

  • You can just swap in your existing bits yeah?

Just came today, very impressive. the force is a adequate, tried on those door plate - existing screw can be tightened on easily, new screw without pilot hole need another 45 - 90 degrees turn to tighten it completely. I tried to manual tighten many screws around the house and i think normal job around the house would not go over the 10N limit to damage this thing. Its meant to be a low speed high torque model but i think it still too fast for delicate projects. First i thought they send me a wrong model (0.4N fast) but looking at package it is the 2N model.

  • I just picked one of these up from Sydney Tools - comes with extender/adapter 18 bits - $89 - I had heard of but compatability issues with the Amazon imports, something to do with the JIS?

Awesome piece of kit tho, can highly recommend - I was initially put off buy the ball shape but fits in the hand perfectly - never going to use manual screwdriver again! For those considering the 3 speed version, I really would not want to use any slower speed.
