Is hand washing the only way to prevent that horrible white stuff?

    • I only hand wash but I still get the white stuff on older containers.

      • +1

What the heck is it? It's off-putting.

      • +1

What is this white stuff you are referring to?

        • +1

After a lot of use in microwaves, wear and tear there are white marks on the containers. About the time I bin them and replace them . Décor stuff is pretty reusable but made from plastic and not forever wear.

          or google says
Microwaving foods high in sugar, oil, fat, tomatoes, carrots, broccoli or curries may mark or stain plastic, but will not affect its safety or usability

@xxtra: I've thought in the past it is from microwaving food in them that's then good super hot and wrecked the plastic, however I've seen it on recent containers that haven't even been in the microwave as I've made a point not to.

It does look pretty gross and happens so soon after buying them.

        • +1

It's like residue from a sticker but it builds up over time.

  • +3

I use these for things like raw veg etc.
Any thoughts on microwaving in plastic and microplastics?

    • +1

I use the small ones for reheating frozen veg and the bigger one for pre cooked meat . thoughts on microplastics ……. meehh I just walked though an under ground carpark to get to work?

me to the bowls at my Chinese take away get a few reuses

  • +1

Noice. Use these every day, have to replace a couple as there's some sort of residue in the bottom, probably from the dishwasher over time. Good deal OP!

Purchased, back in stock but says 2 stocks remaining.

these are still as bad as bpa. Everytime you microwave them they shed microplastics. But better buy em cause they're cheap and "microwave safe"!
