      • You can apply directly to TCL for the $100 once you have the serial number from the tv

        https://www.tcl.com/au/en/cashback-offer-2023

        • Mine isn't getting delivered til mid Nov, and last day for cashback is 31st Oct.

          • +1

@Yingjunl88: Last day is purchase by 31 Oct. Submission date of receipt and photo of serial number on back of TV is 21 November.

  • Anyone had their order cancelled? Just want to sell my current TV if this is actually coming.

    • I contacted them yesterday to ask the possibility of changing the delivery date. I was told the earliest date is 6/Nov because it's currently out of stock. So hopefully new stock is on the way. I mean HOPEFULLY.

      • +1

I called them yesterday and they said the same. Stock is coming in, orders shouldn't get cancelled.

  • I bought on an impulse but I don't really need this. Might cancel my order. Unless somebody wants to buy it off me? Happy to split the cash back

    • What state mate?

      • Sorry. Not available anymore. I cancelled my order

  • My delivery got delayed until 24 November which might mean I can't claim the cashback any more?

    Will TCL extend their date?

    • Unlikely that TCL will extend, but try contacting them proactively, explain the situation and see what they say.

  • Is it still a good deal even if we don't get the delivery in time for cashback? Not sure if I should cancel and wait for another deal to pop up.

    • It was a very good deal even without the cashback. Current price has jumped to $923 at Appliances Online.

Black Friday is approaching, hopefully you might find another deal.

    • I'm also seriously considering this, $100 is a lot of money to miss out on and I would rather put that towards a better deal, especially since BF is coming up soon.

      • Can we get a full refund?

        • I have cancelled my order and they are processing a refund. I don't really use my current TV much anyway.

  • Since mine arrived and I asked about it:

It supports adaptive sync to 4k/60hz no problem, pendulum demo works and looks fine. It can be an Ordeal to get it to work depending on the combo of selections you've made (settings - channels and inputs - inputs - variable refresh rate right down the bottom) and there's another way to break it by not selecting Game mode (settings > display and sound > picture > picture mode > game).

It does support hdr+120hz actual refresh rate+adaptive sync, but, only at 1440p. The JBHifi listing for the TV is the only place I've seen this listed as a restriction on it as bullet point 4.

For adaptive sync and 120hz to work remember to re-load nvidia control panel if you've messed with TV settings since you opened it.

ed - also, for the cashback, your serial you want is below a barcode on the bottom back left of the tv (from the front), not the number near the hdmi inputs.

    • How's the peak brightness?
This is the one spec it is quite a bit lower than most (conversely gives it a better efficiency rating).

      • I was going to say mediocre after watching new Dune on it last night, only really getting moderately proper bright towards the sunlit scenes at the end and in the environment station tunnels. However this morning on going to test the youtube HDR channel with it and find out for sure, I found the display setting had somehow reverted to "low power" mode, and it's not as bad as I'd thought with it set to a different power mode.

I think it's fine for moderate normal daylight or night time use, wouldn't use it as an outdoor facing set or for full sun. I don't think the colour or contrast on it is at all bad, and it has a whole bunch of point adjustments to calibrate it also (20 point + 2 point simple scale).

The brightness and contrast settings seem to be inverted on some modes which can complicate testing also.

        • Cheers. Any ideas what "low power mode" uses in watts?

          • @tunzafun001: I have the TPlink power monitor thing coming tomorrow and I'll try and work it out with an a/b on Movie vs Low Power mode for HDR for the same thing.

One other bugbear people may run into: If you are missing the ability to change out of a picture mode (low power, game, PC, movie etc) you need to turn off the Auto Low Latency mode in Inputs.

            • @stimutacs: Awesome mate, that would be great to get some real world numbers.

              • @tunzafun001: Seems very difficult to get it to show anything other than 112-110w draw no matter what mode or settings are used. Even big settings you'd expect to use more like Gamma curve don't alter it much. The only real setting that influences draw consistently is brightness, which will drop down to 24w or so at the lowest settings.

I think it was just that I'd messed with the default settings in Low Power mode to be less impressive than the others, they aren't really very different at the defaults, after looking at the defaults from the Movie setting.

                • @stimutacs: Cheers, Normally the settings don't make much difference, except for the backlight. Sounds like they have brightness and the backlight under the same heading.

Out of interest. Can you get a viewable picture using around 50w?

                  • @tunzafun001: 50w, sort of. That's around brightness 37-8 which isn't very bright, but, you can then mess with the Gamma and Black Level in Brightness Settings which make it watchable, if fairly low contrast, for "free".

                    • @stimutacs: Brilliant. Thanks heaps for this info. Seems like a lot of the test writeups haven't realised there are different modes. But seems like a good versatile screen..now to find another deal like this…
                      Thanks again.

  • Mine just arrived. The initial firmware update and installing the apps definitely took a while, but since then it's been purring. Not as responsive as my Fire Stick 4K Max, but it's responding fast enough to not make me go and use it.

Haven't tested any of the adaptive sync/etc, but it looks great and ticks all the boxes. Watched The Continental on Prime Video, HDR+ and Dolby Atmos both popped on and looked stunning!

Have it connected to my Samsung Q700C soundbar with no issues.

The TCL cashback was approved quickly, I just submitted a photo of the serial number from the side of the box.

  • Unsure how it got delivered for people in Melbourne but mine has been delayed to now late December. Anyone else in the same boat ?

For those that received cashback how long until they get back to you? I submitted the form Thursday night, received a confirmation email straight away and nothing since. Didn't even ask for bank details yet… Promo ends tomorrow so might have to call and check.

    • Same, submitted

      Wed, 15 Nov, 14:20 (6 days ago)

Got the auto confirm, nothing else.

      • So I got rejected today because the tax invoice from appliances online (which I sent to TCL) doesn't have the purchase date from October in there. I contacted appliances Online and all they can do is send you an email to confirm purchase date. Now trying to contact TCL to pass the message on…check your junk email by the way.

        • +1

There were two emails AO sent me - one saying, "Proforma Tax Invoice" on 23/10, one other saying "TAX INVOICE" dated 14/11. I sent TCL the earlier one since that was the purchase date.

          • @stimutacs: Thank you so much I found mine, might just submit a new form quickly rather than stuffing around trying to contact them.

            • +1

              @mrcosmo: @mrcosmo
              @stimutacs

I initially submitted the Proforma Tax Invoice which had my Order Date on it, then they said please submit a tax invoice, which had the delivery date on it, and it was accepted.

You'll get a prepaid visa card sent via email/mobile phone via TCL.

      • I sent them the november Tax Invoice PDF as a reply to the TCL cashback confirmation email yesterday and got my $100 gift card just now.
