  • Does this support any kind of adaptive sync? The specs says it has a gaming low latency mode and hdmi 2.1 but it doesn't outright say so.

    • +1

Not 100% sure, here's what I found from the site. Does have FreeSync so likely has it some sort of adaptive sync.

"Dual Line Gate presents a 120Hz refresh rate and supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) up to 120Hz*, offering players smoother and more immersive gameplay."
      *up to 2K

"The AMD FreeSync technology promises a seamless gameplay experience, putting an end to choppy visuals and broken frames. It is regarded as the next breakthrough in PC and console gaming."

"Unlock your gaming potential with Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM). Enjoy a smooth and responsive gaming experience with minimised input lag, giving you the edge in fast-paced action and immersive RPGs. Discover the ultimate gaming experience with TCL's low input lag and quick response times."

    • I got the Roku version don’t think it has any

      • Happy with the Roku? Reviews suggest its simplicity makes it great?

        • it’s is os pretty responsive, can cast using iOS too

use it mostly as monitor a bit reflective during the day but nice in a dark room

    • -3

lower your expectations at this low price, it's a TCL.

you will be happier with a samsung, sony, or maybe LG.

      • +3

Ngl tcl really have the sub $1000 segment sewn up. These are great value for money

  • +6

You will never get the cash back for your info. Numerous attempts and they never even bothered to reply to emails. Other than that the tv is not bad.

  • +4

$600 bucks for 65'' seems not bad

    • It's a 4k tv and it's including delivery, what's more? A hundred dollars cashback. Bear in mind that's tax free, plus 10% gst back if you're have business. I have $527.30 after gst and cashback. What a bargain!

  • +2

I've got the previous model and it's horrible to use.

    • +1

      Model number?

    • Ive had a chance to use what looked very big and newish TLC TVs and I have nothing bad to say about the pictures quality, Its OK for me for the price. I've never had a super expensive premium TVs so luckily I dont have a comparison.

But the remotes have been HORRIBLE! And you really have to find the exact place to point it at.
Is it just my misfortune or is this standard for TLC?

      • -1

The remote that came with the 85P745 is awesome, no issues like you've mentioned and the other remotes for our 75P8M and 65P8MR are fine, so perhaps unlucky.. not sure

      • +2

@ripprind I got a 75" TCL (2nd hand for $500) and I kinda have the same issue. Originally I thought it was the batteries in the remote .. but i've found the sweet spot to point it at (which is basically infront of the TV).

Lucky I don't use it much otherwise it would drive me insane.

The lag on the operating system on the other hand .. OMG .. literally have to turn the TV 5 minutes before you want to use it before it loads up and gets to where you want it to be LOL.

        • yeah, I suspected that the battery compartment was built in a way that made it difficult to have a solid contact on the + end.
On these TVs the IR receiver seem to be in the corner. The TV was in no way obstructed, but pointing more than 10 degrees off the sweetspot made it unresponsive
also buttons had to be pressed very hard. And menu was slow ( but I've seen worse :))

      • -1

You might have obstructed the infra red receiver?

  • Is this better than the recent Samsung deal?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/806162

    • +3

Na, that was a dream deal mate.

  • Does anyone know what's the best and second best tv to watch movies with subtitles?
I just need high contrast without halo effect.

    • +3

      OLED?

      • +1

C3 or G3 or Sony oleds?

        • +1

I've been researching as I'm looking for one. C3, S90C are both good values and have their pros and cons. Sony A95K/L will cost more, but marginally better because of processing.

          • @KaitoKid1412: Personally I wouldn't consider S90C as it's a mess in terms of software and hardware.
            Been using KS8000 since 2016.
Last time I checked it had better colours and brightness than LG CX from 2020 based on a YouTube overview. Even G3 can barely match it in terms of brightness.
I think an OLED with higher brightness would be the perfect option for me.
Might go with G3 if the price drops low enough.

  • +3

    Don't forget commbank cashback $30 on $300.

  • +5

Recently purchased the 85P745 and it's awesome.

For this price, the same model 65" is a ripper.
Just note a couple of things before you buy it.

If you plan to use the TV OS for apps, then don't buy it.
You will likely get upset with what many complain at this model spec about a laggy user experience.

So if you're going to use a Fire TV or another system, ie HTPC, Foxtel etc etc, you won't be disappointed.

I've already signed up for the $100 cashback and it's been approved, no issues at all.

If I didn't already have older TCL models 65 and 75 - both using a Fire TV and Foxtel, I would buy this without a second thought.

    • -6

Looks like a scam to me, probably should call the police to be sure

      • Haha after recent TCL attention on another "deal", this post for the win 👍

Sad to see so many negs, I wonder why 😜

    • The 85P745 has really a laggy OS ?

      • Hardly use it and definitely don't load any apps on the TV OS, I use a Fire TV for all apps, perfect combination.

For basic TV use, power on, settings and selecting Inputs I've had no issues, fast power on is awesome too.

        • +1

Fair enough. I've got the Fire Stick 4K Max so that should work a treat if the OS is crap.

    • Hi

I dun use foxtel or fire TV. How about casting Netflix or youtube from a smart phone or iPad on this TV? Any issues?

      • +4

Seriously, I wouldn't touch these TVs without another OS in use.

Let's weigh it up… Purchase a $50 Fire TV while on special, run all your apps through it or Foxtel and you will have scored an absolute bargain, never look back and it's happy days.

Ignore it and try to use the TVs OS, you're in for an unhappy experience and will complain how crap the TV is.

Its that simple and super cost effective, because a Fire TV even on a top of the line model is a step above for TV app or Kodi use, it's a pretty awesome system and fast.

    • What's the casting like to the tv os, any good?

    • +2

Agree, TCL TVs are terrible as smart TVs. We got one at my workplace and there has never been an update for it's Android system since new.

  • +2

    Plus$20 offer for first purchase

    • How?

      • +1

for signning up for their mailbox

    • Ahh forgot to add mine to the cart. 😆

  • +1

Hmm would JB or good guys price match when its not currently in stock? Only ask as i have discounted gift cards for them but feel this is a loophole they will use

  • Can anybody give their experience of the operating system on the C series vs the budget P series. I have a C735 and it's quite responsive, just wondering about the P version.

  • Aby good deal for a slightly smaller TV? 65 probably too big for my one bedroom living room.

    • +1

Bing Lee - $795 ($715.50ish with 10% cashback via cashrewards) - https://www.binglee.com.au/products/55-a7kau-4k-uhd-smart-tv… - but Vidaa OS isn't great and doesn't support near as many apps.

      • thank you. the size is definitely more suitable and I love hisense. My current TV is a hisense and it’s great but the price is a bit higher than this bigger TCL, so I’ll probably hold off for a better deal

        • Yeah, keep an eye out for ClickFrenzy deals coming soon. There could be some good pickups there.

      • Do Bing Lee price match the online appliances price ?

        • Should do, but would be ineligible for cashback.

    • +2

i got the 55 Roku version for $420ish wouldn’t pay more than that, probably should have waited for 144hz but whatever don’t game much just use it for monitor

      • I see. I think I also can pay $400-500 for this. Hopefully a good deal cones along.

      • What is the 144hz you should have waited for? Is it the same price?

        • whoops ithese are 60hz says on website

have a feeling cheap 4k 144hz tvs are not far away tho

    • +2
      • +1

But not eligible for cash back unfortunately. It effectively means almost the same price for 15" less

      • Thanks. Will check it out

    • How big is your wall? That is how big your tv should be. Always buy bigger than you think you need.

      • Wouldn’t a gigantic tv look out of place in a small living room?

  • QUHD?

    • quad / ultra 4K HD. Standard in most 4K TV descriptions nowadays

  • Wouldn't that be QFHD…or just UHD? QUHD would be 8k and I don't think this TV is 8k for $700…could be wrong though.

    • It's definitely not 8K. You'll need to take it up with Appliances Online for the title ;) laugh

      • Lol, I think it's official TCL wording 🤦🏻‍♂️

  • +3

Bought the 55" P745. It has convinced me to never buy anything with Google TV ever again. What a horrible OS. My son can't switch HDMI inputs if signed in on a child Google account. Don't believe me? It's a known issue, and TCL can't/won't help.

    • +1

Was that the only OS issue, or was there other stuff? I only ask because I don't have a kid so I won't need to worry about that

      • Yes, that’s the only issue; but it’s a big one for me

  • +1

It seems that I am not able to claim the $100 cashback if the TV will be delivered after 31 Oct 2023? Got the below message from TCL CB claim webpage:
"You may continue to submit your claim but it will not be reviewed until the serial number is provided. You must send your serial number by 11.59pm AEST 31st October 2023 in order to claim your bonus."

    • +3

Submit the claim without the serial number, follow the instructions from this comment on the 85" post and you should be golden: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14459136/redir

      edit: fixed link

    • +2

They mixed up the dates. It must be submitted before 21st November 2023, but purchased before 31 October 2023.

  • OK, thanks all. I selected the delivery date on 24th November 2023, maybe need to contact the support to reschedule. lol

    • +1

Yeah, I'd be trying to get it in well before the 21st November just in case.

    • Did they give details on why it doesn't comply?

      • -1

Reason: The invoice does not provide any customer details for this reason, your claim is deemed invalid. Please submit new claim under customer\'s name in the invoice.

        • +5

In this case I would approach the retailer to help generate a replacement invoice with your name.

I tend to believe retailer has obligation to help you. If the retailer advertises TCL cashback deal on their website then they have the obligation to ensure that your cashback is not rejected because of the retailer's action.

Otherwise you can tell them you're only left with option to seek help from ASIC:-)

          • -2

@b0b0: My card details in it which means Im the owner, they just dont want to pay the cash back, which is scam.

            • +1

@yuisakas: Where'd you buy it from? "Retailers participating in the Promotion are Harvey Norman, Domayne, Joyce Mayne, The Good Guys, Betta Home Living, Binglee, Bi-Rite Electrical, Retravision, Costco, RTE, Winning Appliances, Leading Appliances and Appliances Online and any other participating TCL retailers (in-store and online) throughout Australia. Participating Retailers will display Promotion materials."

JB HiFi isn't part of the promotion, but they're offering their own $100 gift card to price match.

Also, for most of these promotions, you need a Tax Invoice from the retailer with your name on it, not just the card details/transaction statement. If you get a Tax Invoice from wherever you bought it from, and they're a "Participating Retailer", you should get your cashback.

              • -2

                @mattkirkey: Leading Appliances

                • +2

@yuisakas: Reach out to them to get a Tax Invoice with your name and address on it.

I had a similar thing happen to me trying to claim a cashback (with a different company) and when I had my address put on it, they approved it right away.

                • @yuisakas: Not sure why you are downvoting then mate. You wouldn't have that problem with Appliances Online from this deal, since their invoices have customer details on it.

                  • @Ryballs: I think he's trying to downvote TCL, but got wrong target laugh

                  • -6

@Ryballs: Thats why I downvote TCL,you wont get cashback, thats the point does this make clear? If you dont get the cashback, this not even a "deal"

                    • +3

@yuisakas: Even without the $100 cash back, it's an excellent price for the 65P745. I've even included the comparison with other retailers.

You've been told how to resolve your cash back issue. Follow the instructions and advice you've been given and stop negging posts that aren't even from the same retailer you bought your TV from and are having issues with cash back.

            • +1

@yuisakas: You know that credit card details are confidential information and retailers are not supposed to keep record, or even view it right?

Stop ranting and reach out to the retailer for help, it should only take a couple of calls..

              • -1

@b0b0: Looking at the past voting history, there are a couple of their votes have been removed by the community so just don’t bother replying to them if it helps :)

  • 4:4:4 ?

I need a new second monitor for teams chat

  • +3

TV and fastfood are the only things that's coming down in price. The rest are going up!

  • I need a tv for the outdoor area, how would this fair? Not concerned about the elements, more so the brightness and panel reflectiveness, anything else out there around this size and price point? Thanks

  • Showing $879 for me now

    • Imagine if it's a pricing error and they cancel.

      • I was waiting for my wifi approval…then price update, I think it`s error. most likely they will cancel the order.

  • Bum..back to $879. Energy usage on this aint too bad. But I think the Roku one would be a better GUI, and even a little more efficient.

  • Is $879 still a good price?

    • +1

      Hell no

  • +1

Can get this for $796 now on JB Hifi with code 'CLICKVISUAL20' also comes with a $100 JB gift card and 6 months Kayo so isn't too far off the same price ;)

Have made a post for it here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/807495

Can also pay with discounted gift cards!

  • +2

I called appliance online, asked them why they increased price, they volunteered a new price $671

    Minus the $100 TCL cashback

    $571 delivered, arrives tomorrow AM

    • Legend. Where are you based? I want to get mine delivered asap.

    • Thanks! I chatted online, and matched your price. Unable to get the $100 converted to discount though….happy still
