  • Claims to have been $1,999

  • is that a single speed? i can't see where the motor is. the tiny battery is in the down tube, fair enough. but it looks to be single speed and the motor is in the rear hub.
that may cause some issues if you live in a non-flat area

Yep, combed through and couldn't find any mention of internal hub gearing. It's gotta be single speed

      • "With 250W motor power, single speed belt drive…"

Spec says 40Nm, so should be OK. For people who want to rely on the motor, and not put much effort in on hills, multiple gears are a bit redundant.
At 17.5kg, this is very light for a budget e-bike.

I very much doubt you will find a multi-gear belt-drive bike for anywhere near this price.

    • The GLIDER comes fitted with an extremely powerful 250W Brushless electric hub motor with 5 power speed levels…

Glider Urban Ebike - Step Thru $999

    Any discount for cash?

    10Ah battery = no deal.

    • +1

How much amp hours do you recommend? Looking for a e-bike and I can't decide.

      • +2

        13 ah min imo.

Highly dependant on alot of things aswell eg. Distance you need to cover, motor/controller power rating, how reliant you are on motor assist.

        • 13Ah (brand cells) starting point and like you said it depends on what you need the bike for, in my case even 17Ah is not enough.

This one also $1k - bigger price reduction, has gears, but even smaller battery…

    • Also weighs in at 23kg.

  • +1

Take a look at their commuter, now that confused me. Rear hub motor and the battery is where a mid motor goes ? At least it has hydraulic brakes and racks for $999. 4k for the dual suspension eMTB.

    • This is a better bike that the initial post. Purely because it has hydraulic brakes, it’s very dangerous for a heavy bike going fast and rely on just mechanical disc brake.

      • +2

How so? Ive got a 1000w foldable that weighs about 38kg, with my fat ass on it the no name mechanical brakes still lock the rear wheels.

I mean were not considering brake fade on bikes, as long as your brakes are always checked and pads not worn then mechanical brakes are fine.

    • Got excited for a sec there thinking it was a bafang mid motor for 1k.

Yeah thats new seeing a mid hub mounted battery, doesnt seem like you could fit much batts there.

This bike is sold in many places like Bunnings, Myer, Harvey Norman and few other places. Bunnings listing has a very poor review. I am in the market for a electric bike. Please share your thoughts on it or any other like Giant or many models in 99 bikes.

Reid fire sale on MY24 models, but difficult crowd to deal with. Every bike shop is bleeding, bid hard.

Best top end bargain in the 99Bikes sale is a Merida commuter:

    • +1

Thanks. Compare to Merida one, whats your view on Giant. I can get a good discount on them too. Local Giant would be happy to sell Giant Roam E+ for $2,600. Long range and good components.

  • Giant, tick, tick, tick. The big name shop brands are far better quality, professionally assembled, excellent quality control and after sales service and that'why they cost more.

Never had a single issue with any of my (3) Giants, unlike my bucket of bolts Reid bought online <GROAN>.

Roam E+ is excellent bike. If only it had 500wh battery which is the sweet spot for weight and range.

  • Check bike exchange for competitive pricing. Some shops will price match.
