Alright got the 4TB Lexar as my secondary drive, now for this as my main

      Its a solid drive. <(~,0)>

      • +5

Yes that's correct, it's a solid state drive.

      • any complaints for PS5 users ?

        • +1

They advertise it as good to go!

  • This better than kingston one?

    • +1

This makes the Kingston one look like a floppy disk

      • I think with that heatsink thethe seagate looks more like a floppy disk… Spec wise they are not too far apart. The Seagate FireCuda 530 would be more reliable in the long run but SSD's lifespans are not an issue.. its more about the lack or storage space that kills their usefulness

Who buys an SSD for performance ? It's all about the visuals even if it's covered by the GPU πŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈ

          • @Wicko: What about the 70% of motherboards that come with nvme heatsink/heatshields that cover them :)

The 2TB Kingston KC3000 is going for $189 but that doesnt come with a heatsink.. once you add one the Seagate FireCuda 530 is the better deal for the $$

      Seagate FireCuda 530 2TB - Endurance (TBW): 2550 TB
      vs
      Kingston KC3000 - Endurance (TBW): 1600 TB

      Performance is similar
      https://www.kingston.com/en/ssd/kc3000-nvme-m2-solid-state-d…
      2048GB – up to 1,000,000/1,000,000 IOPS
      2048GB – read/write 7,000/7,000MB/s

They basically have the same key components, but with a different firmware (and different approach in the firmware).

Kingston KC3000 uses a more aggressive SLC cache whereas FireCuda 530's dynamic SLC cache isn't as aggressive. So, in general, KC3000 might get slightly better performance (because most of us don't constantly stress the SSD to the max). However, eventually, the data written in SLC needs to be re-written back to TLC format so foldback write will need to happen. When that's happening, FireCuda 530 spends less time in that (so it recovers faster and runs faster). That also translates to better TBW (less repeated writes basically means less writes).

Which one is better depends on your most common usage pattern. For most people, probably just get the cheaper one.

Bought as main drive for new pc, thanks OP!

  • good product. their warranty process is also nice and smooth. had to send one in a couple of months ago, received a new drive in about a week

    • I was worried here about this being from amazon UK warranty wise - was the source an issue for you?

      • i didnt have any issues with that no. i brought it from ebay and im pretty sure he wasn't an authorised seller or anything. when i got it i just registered the warranty on their site with the receipt from eBay and never had an issue

  • this is going in my PS5 😁

  • how does this compare to Samsung EVO 990 Pro?

  • CCC says it's lowest price ever

    • Drive without heatsink has been as low at $189 before a few times.

The most recent reviews on this from Australia aren't great, 4 out of 8 verified had complete failure within 1 year

    • where? a link maybe please?

        Amazon AU reviews

  • This isn’t an all time high. It was $189 on Amazon UK a few weeks ago.

    • No heatsink

    • You mean this. It was the cheaper version which has no heatsink which is probably prone to some over heating. Different model. The version with the heatsink (from this deal) is designed for the PS5 gaming console in mind.

So yeah with this version of the FireCuda 530 2TB SSD is probably an all time low for this model.
