  • Fishing gear looks alright, I'll keep you in mind when stocking up next time..

  • Good price, but how can you only offer only 90days warranty, is it not covered by Bosch warranty because it's a grey import?
I would steer clear of buying new power tools with insufficient warranties.

    • It's $149 - even if you have to buy a replacement you're still way ahead of the usual price https://sydneytools.com.au/product/bosch-gsb-18v85-c-0615990…

      • You didn’t answer either of the questions. If I had to replace it, I’m not going to be ahead at all.

        • +2

          149 + 149 < 395

          • @DingoBlue: Yes, thats true, but were not in the business of paying full RRP here, $330 standard at Bunnings.
The point of not being ahead if it did fail was more the fact that I doubt the second time around your going straight back to someone who wouldn’t replace it under warranty in the first place.
My comment and neg was to draw attention to the lack of warranty.

            • @Wezzer: Again, it's $149 - well under half the usual selling price.

There is quite clearly not enough profit here to pay for warranty claims, isn't that obvious ?

If you want to pay for a full price unit with full warranty, then go ahead 🤷🏼‍♂️

            • @Wezzer: Yup, ima have to go with you consider local stiff comes with 6yr warranty on unit ane batteries.

    • If you were to have no moral standing in society, you would buy this, buy the same one from Bunnings, return this one to Bunnings for a full refund and then register the Bunnings one with Bosch using the Bunnings receipt for 6 years warranty.

  • Thanks. Didn't get the drill but did a "Bosch" search to see if they had other skins and found the 'BOSCH 22 PIECE X LOCK ACCESSORY KIT' for $35, so got it to give it a try.

  • Is a hammer drill the same as an impact drill?

Wondering as I'm new to power tools and wanting to build a decent tool set. Also, what am I looking at in terms of batteries for this? Bosch platform any good generally?

    • +1

I’m guessing you meant impact driver.
Drill driver - drill stuff and drive screws
Hammer drill - hammer action to help drilling masonary/wall easier, tho if you’re gonna be doing a lot of wall drilling opt for rotary hammer ones.
Impact driver - for driving big and long screws (decking jobs etc.), overkill for flatpack assembly as will most likely destroy/strip threads.

For general use I’d personally opt for Ozito or green Bosch. Depending on your needs I’d start with a drill driver, flash light (my most used skin), and an electric screwdriver. Buy the rest as you need them.

      • Yeah, I think you thought what I was thinking.. 😅 Is the impact driver also usable on car nuts and stuff? Trying to builidng out a more automotive orientated set though, I should have mentioned.

I had to look back through some links but this is the tool I really want as I've heard DonutMedia rave about it in a recent video.. 😅 But that would also limit me to the Ryobi battery system if I want to build on it. (Don't want a different bunch of batteries around). I do actually have some Ozito bits around the house like the Push2Go screwdriver and a heat gun and also dads older Ozito drill (not actually sure what type it is). I'll find out on Monday anyway when I have to pull out the storage box of gear and build a tool trolley I ordered Thursday night.

(My advice are based on general around-the-house usage, the pros may beg to differ).
I do general work on 2 cars and a motorbike, don’t think I needed powered drive on any of them, nor would it have made it easier.
I do have an ozito brushless impact wrench 1/2” that I got to do wheels nuts but haven’t used it yet.
You can buy the tool you want if you like it but I would be wary of stripping threads and what not. Not to mention a lot of the time clearance’s gonna be an issue.
For automotive work, I personally find these useful:
Good 6-point socket set (1/4 and 3/8, metric only, Bahco’s good), you’ll be using these most of the time. Add a breaker bar if it’s not included.
Ratchet spanners (metric only, Toolpro, Bahco or Gearwrench), these’ll come in handy when there’s not enough clearance for sockets.
Ratchet screwdriver, ideally fullsize and stubby (Wera, but can’t go wrong with Toolpro, Gearwrench or Bahco).
Hex keys, metric and imperial, I highly recommend Wera, ball-ends can be useful but I haven’t been in a situation where they were needed since you shouldn’t torque with them anyway.
          Obviously jack AND stands.
If you still have cash to burn after all that maybe some Knipex cobra and wrench pliers (18cm is useful but do your research), not essential but can make your life easier from time to time, both automotive and house work.

  • THIS PRODUCT COMES WITH A 90 DAY WORKING GUARANTEE PROVIDED BY OURSELVES. IT IS NOT COVERED BY BOSCH WARRANTY

In Australia consumers have the right of ONE YEAR WARRANTY.
    Be ware of these scammers!

    • It’s actually FAR less clear than that and revolves around the word “acceptable”.

This is a $400 drill for $149. If the warranty is what you lose for such a big discount, then what's the problem ?

      • -1

        This is a $400 drill

        LOL

  • I've had one of these since 2019 and it's great; tons of torque, hammer action is as good as you get without upgrading to a dedicated masonry drill. Can recommend.
